Trent Jordan

Ok, I'm sure that passes the RON test. Looks like he's a keeper.

Yes...but this is obviously a Colbert pick, since we know from the "NFL Drafting According To Ron" handbook that Tomlin only chooses players that "look like him"...

Some analysis from the net.

J.J.'s brother, Watt (6’5/252) arrived in Madison as a tight end recruit, only to convert to outside linebacker as a redshirt sophomore and break out as a junior for 15.5 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks, earning second-team All-America. As a former pass catcher, Watt is a legitimate interception and pick-six threat with huge hands (11"). Watt ripped up the Combine with 94th-percentile athleticism. Although he carries one-year wonder concerns, Watt has drawn comparisons to Clay Matthews from NFL scouts and has significant growth potential at his new-ish position. At worst, Watt should become a dangerous sub-package rusher. He's an upside pick for the Steelers. http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/12242/tj-watt

I think FC compared him to Chad Brown a little and I am old enough to remember Brown. What is interesting to me is that Watt could be on the field with Harrison and Dupree by replacing Vince Williams at times at ILB.

Taller, faster, former TE prospect with 11 inch hands, yes, taking Vince Williams off the field in obvious passing situations and putting in Watt is very interesting indeed. He could also provide that interior pass rush presence from that spot as well.

You hear comparisons with Clay Matthews with Watt, and Matthews has played inside and outside. I just really like the versatility with Watt, you could line him up a number of ways, get him on the field to where he is getting a lot of snaps as a rookie. I can see him rotating with Harrison, Dupree and Vince Willaims and see 60% of the snaps as a rookie.

Not to mention ST's Scunge. My favorite pick from this draft so far is Brian Allen. I hope he develops and actually plays. Second is the Watt pick.

Decent breakdown (once you get past ridiculous bro love fest) on Watt:

Clay Matthews comps are a bit lazy. TJ Watt is bigger, has larger arms, much larger hands, a bit quicker and much better at broad/vertical leap (i.e., explosion). Matthew might be a bit faster and maybe a bit stronger. Just because both are white doesn't mean they are similar.

1. I doubt Watt wouldve been drafted in the top 100 were it not for his brother. Hes a 1yr wonder with ok not great tape stats at a football factory in a less than the most competitive conference who put up decent combine numbers.

2. I think the Clay comparison is valid because hes a white guy family lineage pick. Although Dom Capers and GB are MUCH MORE willing to mobe him around. Watt is gonna be the ROLB going up against the LT do or die in Pittsburgh

He is a one year wonder who tested very strong at the combine.

Family lineage picks aren't restricted just to white families.

Did you hate the Burns and Dupree picks this much? I hope you did. Otherwise, all this vitriol makes no sense.

This is the third year in a row the brass nabbed an athletic freak raw at his position, but young and with tons of upside.

Hmmm ?

Athletic freak is somewhat nebulous.....nonetheless

I could like the Watt pick if the Steelers were going to use him more like Clay in Capers system but they wont. They will forever line him up at ROLB and expect him to play the run cover and rush the the pass and that hs basketball playing looking dude is gonna fail because you dont get to play EastWest Tech St one week and Iowa St. the next in the nfl

Nebulous? Look at the dude's combine numbers and SPARQ score.

I'll ask again, did you hate the Dupree and Burns picks this much? Because if you did not, all this vitriol makes no sense.

By the way, TJ Watt is taller and weighs more than Bowser. Step back from the ledge, dude.

Those are kinda typical SPARQ for a Move TE though are they not ? Thats what Mini Watt looks like to me

Burns I took a wait and see approach but i wasnt thrilled

DuPree I was cautiously optomistic

I will bet whatever you wish Bowser is much better than Watt

Fuck if I know about TE. My guess is if you go looking at SPARQ scores for EDGE, your'e going to like what Watt looks like. So basically, Bowser is a TE, too. Their numbers are mirror images. Except that Watt is taller, weighs more.

He's 6'5" 250 with room to bulk up. How is that small? The dude is long as fuck but he's still 250 pounds.

Bowser has played some football though

Here are Watts 2016 numbers 15.5 TFL 11.5 Sacks. You tell me. Who did he get those against ?

Id bet you right now its not against anyone drafted in the top 50 ?

Its not against any 4 or 5 star recruits ?

Watt at ROLB for the Steelers might be passable in 2 or 3 years. Thats a bust at 30 if you ask me

Good, so we've moved past your ridiculous assertion that he is puny.

All I know is the dude has ginormous hands and really long arms. Once he's had a year in the James Harrison conditioning program, it will be fun to see how he matches up against LTs. By all reports his hand technique is already really something.

You can sit in your rain cloud all you want.

He may flame out.

He may blow the fuck up.

If you were going to be cool with Burns and Dupree, your position on Watt is absurd to me.

If there is any player that deserves a wait and see, it's Watt.

I guarantee you STD didn't watch a lick of Watt's film. He is trolling as he always does. Same shit different year. I don't know why anyone bothers arguing with him at all. He isn't worth the time or effort. Here is a standard Ops STD:

1) Rant and rave about one thing on a player he got from a scouting report.
2) Scream at anyone who'll listen Steelers' FO is screwing Ben over.
3) Wish as much ill on team as possible because he wants to prove some "point"
4) Ignore any evidence to counter his argument
5) Start endless threads about FO sucking ass, pick sucking ass and how he wants to quit as a Steeler "fan"
6) Repeat same shit with new name after begging to get back into Forum from latest ban

STD is a small child who craves attention. Seeing him as anything else only creates angst, frustration and screaming at Mods to get rid of him.

There are definite things to debate with Watt, engaging with STD isn't a debate it is puerile neener neener contest for a needy Berkshire Hunt.

No need. You've already doomed yourself with inconsistency.

Bowser is punier than Watt with equal length arms and smaller hands, but Bowser is going to be a baller while Watt gets shoved around.

:?

(Edited for arm length.)

The senses are fallible. The rules of logic are not. And you, sir, are inconsistent.

We'll chat more when you've sobered up.

Edit: had to chime back in. Just checked: Bowser and Watt both have the exact same bench press numbers at the combine.

I wasn't around for STD, but what's annoying as hell is the habit of just quoting someone else because you agree, but adding no other content. Posting twice just clutters threads and offers nothing.
Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are, the pigeon is going to shit on the board and strut around like it won anyway.

Take a look at who TJ racked up those avg sack and tfl numbers against

Hes a stat whore who pulled a Mike Mamula at the combine and cashed in on his brothers name

I hope he does well. My doubts are warrented and backed up with facts

Cmon man

Facts?

What facts are helping form your opinion that he won't be a good pro?

Sound like alternative facts to me.....
