So Kahun is back? Nice.
Roster is shaping up for the run.

Just a sickness, it looks like. As long as it's not Coronavirus, shouldn't be a big deal.fractalsteel wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2020 12:06 amThen Malkin goes down in the warmups.

Maybe I missed it earlier on AT&T but they just said it was illness.
Last time he was ill he missed 2 games.
I know he suffers from sinus infections but when he gets sick he must really get sick.
That was a great feed by Crosby on the Rust goal but go back and watch his next shift. The Leafs had the Pens hemmed in and Sid made a nice block, takeaway and got the puck out of trouble. Just as impressive.

If it’s the bug I’ve been battling the past 5 days, it’s a big deal. This shit is wicked. I’ve never felt so weak.Louis Lipps Service wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2020 12:19 amJust a sickness, it looks like. Nothing better than being able to count on your 4th line for production.

Really good period after a fast start by the Leafs. You can see the speed that Kahun brings to that line. I’m so pumped at our team speed right now. Tanev is flying out there.
And there is that wicked snap shot by Lafferty again. He didn’t score on Angello’s goal but man that thing is deadly.

Also - you can really start to see Crosby and Zucker gelling. These two are going to put up some number, me thinks.

Toronto works hard in the OZ not so much in the defensive zone.
If Sid doesn't score there Rust would have.

Zucker is a guy that just knows where to be. I think Crosby is over the moon about playing with him.

I'm watching Zuck meshing with Crosby, and watching acquisition prices rise around the league as we approach deadline, and I'm liking Rutherford quite a bit.
Now I've only got continuing health and Dumoulin's status to sweat out. Wouldn't be a Pens season if I didn't have something to keep me up at night.

Yeah, Rutherford has made some damn fine moves this season.Ice wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2020 2:11 amI'm watching Zuck meshing with Crosby, and watching acquisition prices rise around the league as we approach deadline, and I'm liking Rutherford quite a bit.

Tanev and Zucker have been amazing players.
Tanev has become one of my favorite Rutherford pickups (with a nod to Phil, of course).
There was probably about a 6 minute sequence last night where Tanev had to be on the ice for close to 4 minutes of that 6 minute stretch (he was out there for most of the 5 on 3 kill (I even saw him seemingly skip a line change to forecheck), and then again when we took another penalty a couple minutes later). And even at the end of that second PK, Tanev will still out-hustling guys to the puck and forechecking like a madman.
I was a big Hagelin fan when he was here because I loved how much of a pest he was for other teams, but I definitely like Tanev even better. He's basically Hagelin, but with a scoring touch and I think even more intelligence. Tanev always seems to know exactly where to be to cause the most chaos, and then busts his ass to get there ensure that chaos. It's fun as hell to watch.
And yeah, Zucker, man. I think he feels refreshed being out of MIN. He obviously wasn't happy there. And now lining him up next to Sid must feel like a giant weight lifted off his shoulders, and he's taking full advantage.
Goddam, I fucking love this team!

Right on Lipps.
Also pretty cool that Agnello finds out 4 min before puck drop he gets to play, then scores his first NHL goal about 20 min later. Awesome.

Is there any time line for Guentzel's return??

On a brighter note, Dumoulin did some skating today. I wouldn’t read that mean his return is close yet, as I saw some video of it and he was clearly just kind of coasting around to see how stable he felt.
But, good news nonetheless.

Guentzel is a wild card because no one is sure when he returns or if he does will he be effective. Thus you go out and get Zucker.
When the Pens signed Tanev I thought they overpaid him but now I think they got a bargain. WOW, he was such the right fit for this team.
And when comparing him to Hagglin, remember this, Tanev is much more physical(not that Hags wasn't physical). Tanev is one of those guys who is fun to watch every shift.
I'm still in shock at the effort by the Leafs last night. I wouldn't want to coach that group.

Guentzel wld make this team nearly unstoppable on Offense...Pray for his return.
Are they regretting the Tavares signing yet?fractalsteel wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2020 7:00 pmI'm still in shock at the effort by the Leafs last night. I wouldn't want to coach that group.
Would it be fair to compare Tanev to a young Mark Recchi?fractalsteel wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2020 7:00 pmGuentzel is a wild card because no one is sure when he returns or if he does will he be effective. Thus you go out and get Zucker.

Interesting but I see two totally different players except they both play the game hard. Recchi was much more offensively skilled and Tanev has some skill but his job it to be a big time pest, PK'er and add speed.Jobu wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2020 10:35 pmWould it be fair to compare Tanev to a young Mark Recchi?fractalsteel wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2020 7:00 pmGuentzel is a wild card because no one is sure when he returns or if he does will he be effective.
