Pens vs Sabres (4/18/21)

Post by Pabst » Sun Apr 18, 2021 4:45 pm

Quick turnaround as the Pens take on the Sabres this afternoon. After yesterday's loss, Buffalo is officially eliminated from the playoffs.

DeSmith starts in net for the Pens.

The projected starter for Buffalo is Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, which is quite possibly the greatest hockey name I have ever seen.

Big day today.

Boston up on the Caps 1-0. make that 2-0 with 6 mins to go in the 1st.

If the B's can beat Washington and Pittsburgh does what it is supposed to do then we can cut the points lead to 1.

Boston is suddenly playing extremely well, and 5 out of their remaining 13 games are against Buffalo.

The good news for the Pens is they play Boston at the end of a 5 games in 8 days road trip.

That was a really nice goal by Krejci to give the Bruins the lead again.

Watching the Pens pregame and they are doing a segment on Gonchar. Doc Emery compared him to Roethlisberger.

On the good news front, I finally was able to schedule my Covid vaccinations.

Hopefully he is tired from yesterday.

This is a bit painful to watch. I have seen this game so many times. Pens look good and control the puck only to give up cheap goals and lose.

I just tuned in and have watched about 5 mins. Is this what it's been all game?
Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are, the pigeon is going to shit on the board and strut around like it won anyway.

Pens have zero offense.

I've been listening to the game while doing yard work. Bourque hasn't been happy with the team's effort.

Hey look, Zucker just scored.

The energy wasn't there consistently.
Too many TO's in the OZ, wow were they sloppy in the Sabres end. Ditto for FO's. I felt like the Pens lost every important FO.

Kudo's to Bluegar and Dumo, the only two that brought it all game. Rust was a TO machine today.

Credit to the Sabres, they have played much better with the new coach and getting rid of some of the old guys.

Every goal on DeSmith was top shelf in the corner. I can't really blame him because the Sabre's scoring those goals have wicked shots.

This is exactly the kind of game the Pens need Tanev to be part of. He can provide that instant spark when a team is playing mediocre. Not saying Rodrigues doesn't bring some of that but Turbo is special in that area.
