Tomlin inks 3 year extension
Per Scheffter, Tomlin has signed a 3 year extension, I’m sure this will make many here very happy.

Well that gives him three more chances to win Coach of The Year and maybe win a playoff game in the process.
Secure NHALS early and then go deep into the PLAYOFFS.

The best! A head coach where his last three seasons were epic collapses gets an extension.
Another factor is Art II is a complete fucking idiot.

Unfortunate. We need new blood/perspective, and so does Coach (either retirement, or a new landscape to coach within).
It took me a while to get to this point, but following this past season, I came to the conclusion, that the body of work over the past 10 years just doesn't hold up. I don't need to review it, we all know the record, the losses, the late season collapses, the humiliating playoff debacles, and seeming lack of attention to detail and game planning. Now....I hesitate to judge some of the latter part, but we can all see the results, and like it or not, the buck stops at the Head Coach.
I really thought Mike would see it himself and pack it in. Coach Noll did. Coach Cowher did. It was time, Mike.
Ok. It is done. I don't see him changing, which is the problem overall. But...all that said, I can only wish him well and wish him great success as that means that our team, our city, our fans, will enjoy that success right along with him. Picking myself up off the floor and shouting from the rooftops: Let's GO Steelers! Here we go! We had a storybook ending for The Bus in 2005, let's see if we can get that same for Ben in 2021. Someone needs to step up and refuse to be denied, though. Someone like a young Ben was in that legendary year, wanting to win it for The Bus, and doing everything necessary to make that happen for his friend and mentor and hero. Someone like a Joe Greene was in the 70's, refusing to lose and practically willing a championship for The Chief. We need that kind of player (or players even better) and then things may fall into place. Let's GO!

I was hoping against hope... it is unfortunate. Swiss continues to be right. He has better job security than the Pope.
fuck
that is all

Did anyone here actually think Tomlin was going to either be, fired, quit, and going to another team?
I agree with most that he has become stale and predictable. But last years injuries to key players cannot be ignored, along with an OC that didn't prove himself. And he's gone. Besides, considering BR was rehabbing a rebuilt arm with a crappy O line. . . ?
If the steelers make it deep into the playoffs this year, does it change anybody's mind?
I doubt it.

“Blown up, Sir!”
I knew it was a longshot, but I was really hoping they would change their ways, get with the times and make Mike prove it this year.
But.....

Unfortunately I can't say that I'm surprised. Am I crazy in thinking that he will become a better game planner, a better game day coach?? SMH
So much for the , “No extension is the A2 shot across the bow” narrative.

If they somehow make the playoffs this year (they won't) Ben will throw 5 picks and we'll lose, at home, to some back up QB like A.J. McCarron by 40.COR-TEN wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 1:55 pmDid anyone here actually think Tomlin was going to either be, fired, quit, and going to another team?

Fucking Rooney’s
How in the fuck do you reward an idiot like Tomlin?
Jesus Christ this team is fucked.
I don’t care if we have the best fucking players in the whole league....Tomlin sits in waiting to fuck it up once again.
Rooney’s can suck a dick

Two things you're stuck with in life. Herpes and Tomlin.
Tomlin is a regular season merchant. Such a stupid and safe decision by Rooney.
EDIT: He's a first 3/4 of a season merchant.

Injuries Sminjuries! They happen every year to every team. Either plan for them or prevent them.COR-TEN wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 1:55 pmDid anyone here actually think Tomlin was going to either be, fired, quit, and going to another team?

Maybe Tomlin is the reason for the injuries. Not blaming him, but I bet if he retired, there might be a wholesale change (philosophy and personnel) that would get rid of the injury bugaboo that nobody and no single scientific hypothesis can explain such as:
- New strength/weight training philosophy
- New human body type for the personnel scheme
- New nutrition philosophy
- New practice schedules and workouts
- Unknowns that new blood brings

Well for the next 3 years this team has NO hope. Cool Breeze should have been gone 5 years ago. There's no reason to get optimistic at the start of the season cause Jibbs aka Coach Numbnutz will Eff it up eventually.

It's so fucking depressing seeing the stupid shit that the duece does again and again. This imbecile should have been canned after the 2013 season where they started 0-4. If not that year then in 2018 when they went 9-6-1 and didn't make the playoffs while losing to dregs like the Raiders.
I see the best case for this team in 2021 is 10-7 with a first round playoff loss...Again...

Well, there goes the famous Steelerfury sense of offseason positivity
On the plus side, the extra game makes the end of the "never had a losing season" legend statistically more likely, so he'll be coaching with an edge this year.

Put some peanut butter & jelly on this franchise
cuz we are toast.
Guess I never truly appreciated just how crucial Dan was to this team until he was gone. (Should've listened to Swiss and his assessment of Duece and his leaving Ben twisting in the wind a decade ago.)
Actually Rooney Mara would be far better choice if we must have a family member in charge. But look at you, little Art2, showing everybody that Nutting isn't the only clueless sports owner in town! Running down another storied-history team by coasting on the reputation of years gone by ...
Congrats, Dunce. Is this once-elite franchise now the glossier, higher-rent cousin: the Pirates 2?

The fans are going to will this team to a playoff win If they are allowed back into Heinz Field this year. Tomlin will have the players in position to win. I am hoping Ben and company can bring it home one more time.
