Love the player. Same with Harris. Just think the Oline stinks but I keep telling myself they got a legit starting guard in the 4th last year.
Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”

Mid to late third round talent taken here when there are better players available.
I hope he works out but...if Darwin were alive he would probably shoot him because he is extinct as the player he is at the position.
The baby Gronk shit is comical.

Two rounds without drafting a LB?? WTF Steelers!

It was tough. At 42 or wherever, Eichenberg, little, samuel, carman, banks, cosmi, jok, and radunz on the board, we had to feel pretty good. And then they all go, and not really like we could have traded up with a team that wanted one of those.
Not obvious to me that he’s not a value there, but we’ll see if he’s jesse james plus receiving threat or jesse james minus blocking.

Whatever. They got too many holes and no where near enough fingers, even if everything fell right and they picked perfect. Ebron sucks, and they haven’t drafted a real tight end since Heath in 2005. Basically they’re taking the best available at their many positions of desperate need. As I said, whatever.

I know it is simpleton but any good to great Steelers team HAS to include a great TE. Edrop aint it. Now lets get some O line!
Edrop. That's hilarious.BouldernBun wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 1:53 amI know it is simpleton but any good to great Steelers team HAS to include a great TE. Edrop aint it. Now lets get some O line!

I pretty much agree with this... Assuming we take o-line in the next 2 picks I think we took 2 players early that correlate to first downs and scoring more points.Rod & Wire Mill wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 1:40 amWhatever. It was close, but Edrop wins the Steeler who pissed me off the most award last year.RemoAZ wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 1:56 amEdrop. I can’t see how anyone can remotely think Ebron is goodBouldernBun wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 2:09 amIt was close, but Edrop wins the Steeler who pissed me off the most award last year.RemoAZ wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 1:56 amEdrop. Yep. He, alone, barely edged out our entire corps of running backs in sheer aggravation. So I am pretty good with the draft so far. We will see!Rod & Wire Mill wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 2:12 amI can’t see how anyone can remotely think Ebron is goodBouldernBun wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 2:09 amIt was close, but Edrop wins the Steeler who pissed me off the most award last year.
One thing I like about both picks so far is they’ll be on the field day 1.
As an aside I think the draft shows should show lowlights. They always show the CB making picks and sacks. I want to see him falling backwards over his own shoelaces or getting trucked by a fullback.
Somebody out there gotta start the worst fucking plays all the draft hotshots made.

I loved the Najee pick. I don’t love this pick of Freiermuth. And I’m not convinced he’s going to be starting on opening day. He’s a good tight end but he’s not fast or explosive. I would rather have gone for position of need at 2nd round.

I called Ebron out early last season for drops when he was somewhat effective and got roasted... Primarily by KC, but others as well, we all know KC is a fanboy and picks his players to support regardless of performance... woof.Rod & Wire Mill wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 2:12 amI can’t see how anyone can remotely think Ebron is goodBouldernBun wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 2:09 amIt was close, but Edrop wins the Steeler who pissed me off the most award last year.

I don't get it.

He’s a two-way TE that can’t really do either

I think Roberts ran him through the drills so they were high on him from the get go. here it is.Thin tight end class awaits Steelers in NFL Draft

Penn State’s Pat Freiermuth carries a second-round grade. General manager Kevin Colbert, coach Mike Tomlin and new tight ends coach Alfredo Roberts scouted Freiermuth at Penn State’s pro day in March. Freiermuth is 6-5, 251 pounds and wore No. 87, drawing the nickname “Baby Gronk.”
In a recent predraft report, Jeremiah noted Freiermuth’s “toughness and strong/reliable hands. He is physical and fights for extra yards after the catch. He doesn’t offer much top speed and wiggle … and isn’t a dynamic athlete, but he has a good feel for the position and should be a steady, reliable starter.”

The Steelers had a heavy presence at Penn State Pro Day. So, it was no surprise to see Kevin Colbert and Mike Tomlin show up in State College on Thursday. However, new Tight End Coach Alfredo Roberts also was there, and he ran highly touted tight end Pat Freiermuth through his drills on the day. After the drills were finished, Freiermuth and Roberts were actively seen having a joyful interaction.
Freiermuth said that he had met with the Steelers multiple times before Thursday. He has met more than a few times with Roberts himself. Freiermuth had a rather glowing review of Roberts.
“You know, that’s my guy,” Freiermuth said. “I’ve met with him a few times. Those calls have been great. I would love to play for an organization like the Steelers.”
While he has met with Tomlin and Colbert virtually, Freiermuth said seeing them in person really made the feeling sink in.
“It was an honor to have Kevin Colbert and Mike Tomlin watch my Pro Day,” Freiermuth said.
After season-ending shoulder surgery, Freiermuth did not test at all on Thursday. Revered analyst Greg Cosell compared Freiermuth to Heath Miller earlier this week. While the Steelers love Freiermuth and that feeling is mutual, it is likely that Freiermuth is a prime candidate in either a trade back scenario, or there is also the off-hand chance that Freiermuth could fall to the 55th pick.
As for how he is viewed by NFL teams, Freiermuth said that most of them love his versatility.
“Teams see me as that F Tight End or that move tight end,” Freiermuth said. “They will line up in-line and block and then split me out wide.”
The Steelers strong interest in Freiermuth is only the latest inkling of interest the Steelers have had in tight ends this season. The Steelers have also talked to Georgia’s Tre McKitty and Ole Miss’s Kenny Yeboah thus far.

About as even keel a player evaluation as you will hear.

One thing's for sure after reading all the comments by the team and local media about this guy, they LOVED him. Hopefully that's a good sign. This wasn't just about need or value or anything like that. They loved the player first. Have to believe that's because they did a deep dive on him.

From what I'm READING, this is an overly harsh assessment.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 4:05 amthisStallworth16 wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 2:52 amI loved the Najee pick.
