Yes, I can't wait to see Kenny listed among STD's doorslammers for the game.

Kenny, also Matt Canada fooled the defense.
Kenny looks much better when you actually give him multiple times to throw...who would have thought? Both throws to PF on that last drive were high quality and the TD was very nice. Good for him. I thought he struggled at times to get momentum this game but a lot of it was playcalling.
Yepper.
Not only for that absolutely GORGEOUS dime to Pickens, but how about picking up that first down the QB sneak????
Shows how important that play is in the NFL.
Ben's the greatest QB in Steelers history and a sure-fire first ballot Hall of Famer, but the punishment his body took the first decade of his career affected his ability to move the second decade and QB sneaks are sometimes necessary to help win games.
KP will never be Ben level great, but he's one tough motherfucker.

I think this board is some sort of perverse social experiment.

Kind of like Being John Malkovich. But instead it's Being Randy Schooner from Saltsburg. And he has some sort of condition where his upper and bottom lip can never touch.

Kenny now has 3 Game Winning Drives and 2 Fourth Quarter Comebacks in 10 games. Not bad for a rookie QB. 5-5 as a starter but that 5th loss came when he left early in the Ravens game, I don't think Kenny throws those picks that Mitch does and completes those passes to Freiermuth and we win the game.
Yet another game close to 33 minutes of time of possession for the offense and they had 350 yards of offense, over 100 yards rushing, and yes, not enough points, only 13 points, but we did have missed FGs and it was a damn frigid game to play in that was going to make points hard to come by for both teams.
I keep telling people don't be surprised if Canada gets another year as the OC. This second half of the season is going to make the Steelers think long and hard about making a change at OC.

This was classic Pittsburgh Steelers bad weather football from the 70's. You young guys have absolutely no idea how many times the offense under Bradshaw would do damn near NOTHING for an entire game and the defense would have to keep them in the game by making play after play.
.....but when it mattered, the offense came together and won the game.
Franco would have been very, very proud of these guys.
Every Steeler legend, alive or dead would be proud of this team tonight.

This is a dark time in Steelers history. I've mostly checked out because this team is going to be proverbially spinning its wheels. The next five years are going to be Tomlin trying to limp the team to mediocrity to preserve his .500 or betters seasons, the Steelers blowing the chance to draft higher draft picks, wasting picks on power 5 linebackers and luxury skill position players, and Yinzer Frenzies with Kenny Pickett.
The dude is going to slop around and manage games for the next few seasons, probably have a near .500 record, and have some of the most devout followers supporting him and blaming everyone else for the teams lack of real success basically because he went to Pitt and sort of has a redneck mullet. It's going to be awful. This is basically one of those games that will rile everyone up about the teams future. What really is the team accomplishing? This shits bleak.

Yeah, Ryan was such a boon for the Penguins and was not at all a sign of the GM losing the plot to his teams success. I was sure handed my ass during that whole debate. The team losing four straight times in the first round because they kept signing players that didn't fit any sort of team build was totally a separate issue. Glad people like steel could be there to tell me how it really was.Orangesteel wrote: ↑Sun Dec 25, 2022 7:30 amGood to see you posting again Hacksaw. I’m liking a lot of kennys game and progression. The one part i’m waiting to see develop is the intermediate routes in the middle of field. Not sure if theyre just not there, or if kenny doesnt trust his arm to throw into those tighter windows. That part of his game will need to develop if we ever expect to wrack up passing TDs.

Both defenses were at the top of their game that day. Keep in mind for the Steelers defense this was pre-Lambert and they were just coming together as a unit.El Kabong wrote: ↑Sun Dec 25, 2022 4:49 amThe Immaculate Reception game was 7-6 with 22 seconds left on the clock. The Stabler TD run was the only bonehead play for them all day. It would be another bonehead play the following week, on special teams with the Seipel fake punt and run, that would do them in against the undefeated Dolphins with all the fuckin' Larrys.

KP will get better and develop.
To what degree will be more dependent on his QBcoach and OC.
If we keep him saddled with an OC openly mocked by many for his amateurish scheme then marginal improvement is all we will get.
Please pull someone off of Shanahan’s offensive staff. Pretty please.
McVay and staff certainly had Baker Mayfield looking decent last night.955876 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 26, 2022 7:28 pmthe-other-burg wrote: ↑Sun Dec 25, 2022 7:14 pmI’m liking a lot of kennys game and progression. Tua isn't winning a Super Bowl, even with a Super Bowl level roster, in Miami.
Ever.
I don't know if Baker can win one, but he has more balls and doesn't completely shit himself under pressure, like Tua.
Baker isn't a star but he's better than Jimmy G. and if Jimmy G. can get the Niners to a Super Bowl, Baker can get the Dolphins there.

Literally every single pass up to the TD was a check down to a Harris or Freiermuth. “Short middle” or “short right” in the score sheet on every completion.. Pass to Pickens looked nice, but he was wide open by NFL standards. Nicer play design than anything.SteelerDayTrader wrote: ↑Sun Dec 25, 2022 4:44 amThe desperation displayed by those who line up to wash Kenny’s balls is HIGH LARRY US !!!! Lolololz

I guess when you only can score 13 points against the 25th rated defense on a day where your D gets 3 picks, you gotta squint to find something to puff your chest over. 3rd TD pass by Kenny in the last 7 games, 5th over the season. League average QB rating right now is about 93. Kenny’s never cracked 91 in a game. Never had a 2 TD Pass game like Mr Irrelevant from this year has done 4 weeks in a row. Great progress. Is it too much to ask for our 1st round pick to have one single start this season as good as any game Brock Purdy has played in the last month?

It’s not. But Purdy is playing in the Ferrari of offenses right now. So is Jalen Hurts. Pickett plays in the worst designed offense I can ever remember seeing in all of my years watching pro football. I don’t think he attempted a pass over 12 yards the entire game. He was really bad on like 80 percent of his throws. It’s a disaster of an offense. He made the one count that mattered to win which is great to do for Franco and his family, but if Canada is the OC at camp next season there is a strong chance I will not watch the Steelers next year. NGL.

The Brock Purdy horseshit is pure comedy. The guy has an elite supporting cast at literally every position on the field. Especially coaching and play calling .Comparing him to what Pickett has to deal with is not only reaching, it’s idiotic.Orangesteel wrote: ↑Tue Dec 27, 2022 5:23 amIt’s not. Also, Pickett’s throws were far from bad on 80% of his throws. He played it safe on a horrible night weather wise, as I’m 100% he was explicitly told to do and avoided mistakes.
That drive for all the marbles though? Wasn’t that a thing of beauty? Love the sour grapes and haters around here because the dude isn’t firing it all over the field in below zero temperatures.
I’ll tell you who DID look like shit on 80% of his throws though? Derek Carr. Wasn’t Pickett compared to Carr before the game?
Either way, I could just imagine the sour faces and Diet Coke being thrown by Steelers “fans” after Kenny’s dime to George.
Christ I love this so much.
