Who Else Thinks Steelers Beat Buffalo
Okay Asshats...I'm counting on you to aid my mental health by diagnosing me as a delusional fuck. See, I am soooo fuckin' pissssed that the Pittsburgh Steelers are not in the playoffs, the best team not qualifying (as well as the Lions) as I truly believe they would have gone into the Ralph, and shut the Buffalonians the fuck down....sacked Josh Allen's ass, picked him off a few times, and scored enough points to win, just like in the 2021 season opener.
I'll feel better, not have nearly so much angst, if yinz can convince me that there's no fuckin' way Steelers prevail in that game.
FUUUUCCCCCKKKKK!!!!!!

I already made a post earlier on how we would have a great, great chance to beat the Bills.
They needed 2 fucking kick off returns for TD's to sneak by the Mac Jones-led Pats. Tua beat their asses in Miami and should have beaten them again just prior to his most recent concussion, in Buffalo.
With Watt back and with the way the Steelers offense is running the ball and Kenny making clutch throws on a consistent basis, there is zero doubt we could have beaten the Bills.

I was telling my friends and fam, if the Steelers get in, they won't leave right away.
Given how it played out, Go Bills / Vikings for the Lombardi.
Given how it played out, Go Bills / Vikings for the Lombardi.
They’d lose by 2+td
not close
The defense wouldn’t be able to hold up to a legit QB and the ability to run
And more importantly, they offense wouldn’t score more than 16 points
Thinking anything else is just wearing your yellow colored homer glasses

I look at Tomlin's track record in the playoffs and think Buffalo scores 30+ on us while we don't sniff 20. Call me jaded but I can't see us moving the ball let alone scoring with Canada, Tomlin and a rookie QB in the playoffs and Tomlin's proven to not be able to stop anyone in the one and done tournament.
Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”
This is a team that lost to the Jets, patriots and the Dolphins, and you want to say they could beat the Bills??

Buffalo would boat race them
It would look like the Browns trucking the Steelers in the playoffs a few years ago
Dopey Tomlin and Canada would have no answers for legit team with a capable coaching staff
I think the Steelers would have been more competitive than in the game earlier in the season, but I don't think the Steelers would have won.swissvale72 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 1:03 amOkay Asshats...I'm counting on you to aid my mental health by diagnosing me as a delusional fuck. I don't think they would have beat Buffalo either, but I would suggest that the Steelers at the end of the season were better than the Steelers who lost to the Jets, Pats, and Dolphins.

Don't think they would win, but I think it would be a good game. Maybe Denver 89 type game. Pittsburgh and Detroit were the hot teams, a shame we will never know. Can't wait til next year though.
They gained some general growth and improvement through experience, they didn’t sign a whole new roster
The oline would still screw up a dozen plays (between missed assignments and penalties)
DJ would still run backwards and drop 2 drive killing passes
Pickett doesn’t become Josh Allen and start slinging the ball all over the field
The inside linebackers would still completely suck
Edmunds would still blow multiple assignments
The scheme would still have the corners 7 yards off on 3rd and 2
I mean the team deficiencies are extensive
They have no positions, other than OLB, where they are better
None

Cue Toreador
Well, somehow they were a better team at the end of the season than the start of the season. Some of the guys you mention are playing better than they were. Kenny is better and the Oline is better. Like I said, I wouldn't expect the Steelers to win, just look better.anpsteel wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 1:49 amThey gained some general growth and improvement through experience, they didn’t sign a whole new roster

After 15 seasons Jibbs hasn’t figured out that all games matter.
That’s why things such as bye weeks and anything other than 6 or 7 seeds have gone away.
Never his fault. Always a victim of circumstance.
Maybe next year.

Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 84 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.

Mike Tomlin’s defense vs a good NFL offense is a mismatch. In the playoffs it’s a massacre. The Steelers have practically no way to keep up scoring wise short of an injury to Josh Allen on the first drive and a bunch of defensive turnovers.

What would make you sure of that? They primarily looked better because they played teams that either didn't care, were bad, were hurt, or all the above.

Smoke that shit @swissvale72
This is where I am at. I would like to see rematch to asses what improvement toward the actual top echelon we made since they stomped on us in that crazy wind game. I could see it being a 7-10 point game if Najee was able to keep running the way he has the last 3 weeks. I don't think anyone at this point of the season wants to see a 240lb workhorse RB that has a been showing more pep in his step the last month.

This makes no sense because Josh Allen last year was not as good as the Josh Allen this year. A QB with 12ish games under his belt has no chance of running an offense like the guy that has been running it for multiple seasons while being a modern day recreation of Big Ben with more speed and running ability. Josh Allen is a freak athlete. Nobody in the NFL can play and sling the ball like Josh Allen. Other QB's have arm talent but that guy throws his big ass body all over the place. A truly unique problem for a defense.

If the A game was summoned by Tomlin, we could beat the Bills. However if the Bills summon their A game against us, no way do we win.swissvale72 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 1:03 amOkay Asshats...I'm counting on you to aid my mental health by diagnosing me as a delusional fuck. I don’t think you are suggesting A game versus A game, I think you are suggesting our A game versus them stumbling due to a peculiar event; an early turnover, weather, injury or something along those lines.
Tomlin has not been able to summon an A game in the playoffs for a long while. There is always something.
Freiermuth would most likely be out. Certainly him being out is easier to overcome than say Najee, Heyward or Watt.
Let’s not forget 20 interceptions versus Allen’s red zone woes of late! This why they play the games!
This is a laughable take.
You don't think the Steelers were a completely fucking different team the second half of the season? I mean....my God.
They were starting a rookie who struggled mightily early and came out the other end playing very good football. Most importantly, he was taking care of the ball like a seasoned veteran and making big throws and runs to sustain drives.
No TJ Watt in the first meeting. Remember what happened just one year earlier in Buffalo when TJ played? Yeah, that.
Buffalo really isn't playing that well. How often is anybody going to get 2 kickoff returns for TD's to sneak by Mac Jones?
Again, your take is ridiculous. Teams often get better as the season goes on. Players get better, especially young ones. Anybody doubting Pickett was a completely different player than the guy Buffalo saw the first time around has to be high.

The Raiders had won 4 of their last 5 games and that 1 loss was on a Baker Mayfield last second TD pass miracle. They had beaten the Patriots, Chargers and Seahawks during that stretch. There were huge playoff implications for them in that game.....and then KP and George ended the Derek Carr era in Las Vegas. Baltimore was fighting it out for the division title and EVERY game in Baltimore is a war. Carolina too, who had been playing very good football before they ran into the Steelers, who pantsed them in their building.

Regular season, first game no less, vs the playoffs. Remember the epic defensive game plans Tomlin rolls out for the playoffs? How many points have they given up in their last 5 appearances? How many points could you even hope Kenny could drag out of whatever shit game plan Canada came up with? I'd imagine the gap would be enough to fill a can of whoop ass.K_C_ wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 11:48 amExplain what happened on opening day in Buffalo, 2021.Steelperch wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 2:57 amMike Tomlin’s defense vs a good NFL offense is a mismatch. Um....not buying it. Watt destroyed EVERYBODY in 2021 and had rounded into form at the end of this season. Josh Allen was under constant pressure from Watt in that 2021 game and this defense is better at every level than that one. Better against the run. Highsmith has ascended into a feared pass rusher. DB's have been getting picks. Sutton's better. Kazee was a major find. This defense is better than that one.RemoAZ wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 12:02 pmRegular season, first game no less, vs the playoffs. On offense, Pickett was sustaining drives and making big plays when it counted. COMPLETELY different QB than the one Buffalo saw. Our o-line is night and day better than the one Ben had in front of him in 2021. Najee and Warren played like fucking beasts the second half of the season. We didn't have George Pickens in 2021 nor a dude like Connor Heyward who seemingly makes big plays whenever they need to be made.
....and again, Buffalo might not be the juggernaut people think they are. Miami should have beaten them twice and when you have to count on 2 kickoff returns to beat Mac Jones at home.....I mean, c'mon.
Obviously I don't know if the Steelers would have won, but this one had all the makings of one helluva game.

They didn’t COUNT on two kickoff returns for TDs to beat the Patriots.
They happened to get two kickoff returns for TDs in that game.
Who knows how differently the game proceeds if they have to drive the ball instead?

Exactly, thanks for making my point for me. Instant TD’s on something that happens maybe once per year, but they get two in the same game are not only huge momentum boosters for your team, they are demoralizing blows to your opponent.
Who knows exactly what would have happened had they had to drive the ball down the field instead. Great question.
…..and driving the ball down the field vs New England’s defense is a different proposition, than driving it against Watt, Fitzpatrick, Heyward, Highsmith, etc.
Again it’s important to mention that Watt didn’t play in the first game this season. Reining DPOY, Watt who sure looked like was back to form before the playoffs.
