Well that’s fantastic news! Huge part of our TE screen game, which is a foundation of the Canadian Shitburger Offense that Matt runs.
Can’t wait for Gentry’s dynamic 2.6 yards per touch! Championship!

I think it is a good move. He has been a project. He I s a great athlete for a TE and former QB, and his 2.6 yards is a product of Canada and a rookie QB.Orangesteel wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 4:11 pmWell that’s fantastic news! When he does catch the ball with momentum towards the end zone he trips and falls and can gain 10 yards by accident.

This team can’t help themselves.
They love resigning their slugs.
Marcus Allen should be next.

Man, some of you guys are so miserable. Quality depth player at a low price, sorry he’s not an AllPro for you. Quick, name me the #2 TE on every Steelers SB team.
I agree. Hope he comes in much less than his supposed market value ($3.5MSteelperch wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 9:35 pmMan, some of you guys are so miserable. Quality depth player at a low price, sorry he’s not an AllPro for you. Quick, name me the #2 TE on every Steelers SB team.
The biggest downer is that it makes it that much less likely that they dip their toes into this deep TE draft pool (I'm looking at you Mr. Washington). But, they do have many other needs, I guess.
There's a strange obsession around here with recreating the 2011 Patriots offenseSteelperch wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 9:35 pmMan, some of you guys are so miserable. Quality depth player at a low price, sorry he’s not an AllPro for you. Quick, name me the #2 TE on every Steelers SB team.
If the plan is for Connor Heyward to be the fullback/H-Back, then that still might leave open a spot for a TE to be drafted in this deep class.
Gentry could be the #3 TE, and we still could draft a TE in round 3 or 4 to offer more as a pass catcher as the #2 TE.

Now THIS is something I'm interested in watching play out.Scunge wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 10:04 pmIf the plan is for Connor Heyward to be the fullback/H-Back, then that still might leave open a spot for a TE to be drafted in this deep class.

Matt Williamson had a good read on LaRaven Clark today on DK's site. He thinks they will use him a lot as a TE in 6 linemen scenarios.

We can’t all have top tier players as backups and besides a good blocker and decent hands

You mean he’ll be “eligible” like the fat fuck loudmouth Zack Banner?jewelsongs wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 10:08 pmMatt Williamson had a good read on LaRaven Clark today on DK's site. He thinks they will use him a lot as a TE in 6 linemen scenarios.

Yes, but Matt seems to think he will be good at it. In fairness, Banner was pretty popular in Pittsburgh when that was his role.Jobu wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 10:23 pmYou mean he’ll be “eligible” like the fat fuck loudmouth Zack Banner?jewelsongs wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 10:08 pmMatt Williamson had a good read on LaRaven Clark today on DK's site. He was most definitely popular, but he wasn’t good…not even in that role.jewelsongs wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 10:29 pmYes, but Matt seems to think he will be good at it. The point is we have a lot of guys on the current roster that do very little. Of course you aren’t going to break the bank for a backup TE but as per usual the Steelers look content with “their guys” when there is no doubt better and younger talent out there. Are they scouting that talent?Steelperch wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 9:35 pmMan, some of you guys are so miserable. Quality depth player at a low price, sorry he’s not an AllPro for you. Why do the ravens every season seem to have 2-3 TEs behind Andrews that make plays in big moments for them. Has Zach Gentry every made a big play in a big moment? Maybe at Michigan?

I read their boards, my statement is fact
I like Gentry and I think he'd have better numbers in a real freaking offense.
Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”
Is it legal to bring TWO tackle eligibles on and go 7 OL sets...jewelsongs wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 10:08 pmMatt Williamson had a good read on LaRaven Clark today on DK's site. He thinks they will use him a lot as a TE in 6 linemen scenarios.

Looking forward to Gentry’s prowess on TE screens and inside shuffle passes.

This is interesting too. Ultimately you are saying D. Watt won’t be back I assume?Scunge wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 10:04 pmIf the plan is for Connor Heyward to be the fullback/H-Back, then that still might leave open a spot for a TE to be drafted in this deep class.

We have lost a lot of special teamers, does DW get resigned for that alone? Or does he get cut?
Will be interesting move. If I was betting, I’d say he gets cut, but I wouldn’t bet much. If we have a completely gutted special teams, that will be worth 3-4 game changing plays until they gel and get some professional consistency at mid-season.

He has made some big plays and he is 6’ 12”. He is as a good as or better than peak Jesse James at backup!

Why do the Ravens every season have a dog shit WR room? Different teams have different strengths. The reason the Ravens are always stacked at TE is they are very good at identifying TE talent and miserable at finding WR1s. Hence, their passing offense runs through the TEs.Orangesteel wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 11:25 pmThe point is we have a lot of guys on the current roster that do very little. Resigning slugs like Gentry does nothing to better the team.
It makes upgrading the #2 TE in the draft, which looks to
be deep in talent, unlikely.
