I ain’t saying he’s the next Ryan Leaf…. ..but def not buying into the (f’n preseason) hype.

So many recent 2nd year QB’s that clearly showed more talent. …although his commitment and effort is encouraging.
You'll be a huge, huge fan soon enough.
I’m already a fan. I want him to be ‘the guy’. I like his dedication. I’m rooting him.

…but we’ll see. Bet week one you won’t see instant TD’s. I mean…literally (like the word reslly means)…I’m willing to wager.

Well, I agree he probably won’t lead 5 straight drives for TD’s but, like I’ve been saying since last season, don’t be surprised if you see a Joe Burrow-esque leap for KP8.

He has “it”. All of it.

KP8 final pre-season stat line:

13-15
86.6%
199 yards
13.26 YPA
2 TD
0 Int
158.3 QB Rating
5 drives, 5 touchdowns

Don’t give a damn if it’s pre-season, pop warner ball, pick up in the park, that’s getting shit done.

Impressive.

Crazy thing I learned yesterday was that Matt Canada recruited TJ Watt to Wisconsin and throw in that he recruited KP8 to Pitt. It would seem Matt Canada was bound to coach these two young men sooner or later.

Imagine how many more people on this board would be praising him if they'd picked him in their mock drafts...
Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”

Absolutely. Watching this team for as long as we have, I can say we’ve looked better in this preseason than maybe ever. Thats not nothing. Been fun to watch and I’m looking forward to this season!!!!

I’m not worried about some interceptions.
I agree the arrow is pointing up. I’m just saying if he’s throwing picks and we are losing games as a result it’ll be hard to have threads about the haters having to eat crow now wouldn’t it???
I will remind folks that in his last…what is it…ten games including these preseason games? KP8 has thrown a single interception.

All his picks came in a couple games early in the season last year. Since he came back from the concussion, he’s thrown just that one.

Yeah but if you take away his long runs he averages less yards per carry.

My comment was in relation to this specific thread. Was just saying a couple picks and a loss out the gate will temper all this enthusiasm. I know KP was much better down the stretch protecting the ball.

I like KP and certainly am not a hater.

My only concern coming out was maybe he lacked a big enough arm. He seems to have put that to rest.

As much as I loved Ben, it was certainly time to move on. I like the fresh attitude and roster turnover that has occurred.
Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 82 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.

1 game.

We have many, many more problems that are a lot bigger than Kenny Pickett.

Uh, as bad as the other problems are, if Kenny P can’t be great against great teams, we’re possibly more fucked than we would be with almost any other issue.

How much bigger? The QB is pretty important.

My take is: with Ben in his prime, you could have an o line play shitty and he’d transcend it. KP ain’t that guy. Our supposed improved line had its ass prison raped today.

KP has had a nice pre season but it is too early to start the parades.

Let's see if he can produce when it matters. Starting with the 49ers.
Sadly nice call Clan. The season starts next week. Hopefully they show up in the first half and at least Give us something entertaining to watch

Ben had plenty of clunkers in his prime.

Remember that 38-3(?) Loss to New England on opening day?

KP hasn't played a full season worth of games yet.

Oh I agree. But with Ben you had receipts for greatness so you didn’t freak out when such happened.

Kenny doesn’t have the receipts.

Kenny made them look a lot worse than they were. People used to bitch way more about Ben behind way worse O-lines.

By age 25 Ben already won a SB, went to two AFC Championship games, won 40 starts, 5 playoff games, made a Pro Bowl, and won Rookie of the Year. We’re still waiting on Big Ken to throw 2 TD passes in the same game.

By the second half today, Kenny's mind was completely fucked to hell, and he was still making bad choices even with less overall pressure from the 49ers.

And like I mentioned, that is not the first time this has happened.

That is not a good sign for the future.

I know it's one game, and SF is a legit contender and we are not.

But after a half where I was ready to absolve him a bit, he goes out and lays that clunker in the second half...and that shook me up.

Why did we have zero run game today? Maybe Kenny made them look as bad as they are?

As I said in a previous post, look at Ben’s first game of year 2….fucking FWParker was running all over the field that day. Big difference from Harris and Warren’s game today.

Things are obviously not as good as we hoped from preseason, but I doubt they are nearly as bad as today’s game either. Fingers crossed! KP is not Big Ben. And Steph Curry is not MJ, Kobe or LeBron. Life is like a box of chocolates….not ready to throw the baby and bath water out yet.

Yeah....... folks really need to stop comparing lil' ken to Big Ben.

Today may have been the worst game of Pickett's career so far. Now the question is this: is he closer to the guy he is today? Or is he a different player? Time is ticking on him to show more. A hell of a lot more.

For context, Burrow totaled 67 passing yards on 33 dropbacks today (much against prevent defense), and Watson wasn’t much better. Pickett was playing the top D in the league.

Pickett was terrible. But not really worth much overreaction.

Burrow sat all preseason and is coming off injury. He looked like ass week 1 last year too. He also has shown he’s a top 2 QB in the league over the past few years. I can certainly accept a clunker from a HOF QB like Ben or stud like Burrow once a season. Pickett has not shown he can lead the Steelers offense to multiple scores in a game yet. He’s fucking 25 years old.
