For context, Burrow totaled 67 passing yards on 33 dropbacks today (much against prevent defense), and Watson wasn’t much better. Pickett was playing the top D in the league.

Pickett was terrible. But not really worth much overreaction.

Burrow sat all preseason and is coming off injury. He looked like ass week 1 last year too. He also has shown he’s a top 2 QB in the league over the past few years. I can certainly accept a clunker from a HOF QB like Ben or stud like Burrow once a season. Pickett has not shown he can lead the Steelers offense to multiple scores in a game yet. He’s fucking 25 years old.

I'm no draftnik. I'm just getting tired of the massive, unjustified KP over-hype and kool-aid drinking. I don't see any basis for it- KP had a few decent games against bad teams to end the season last year, looked pretty good against back-ups in preaseason games, and had a few puff pieces in the Pittsburgh media. Big deal. Nevertheless, half the fanbase is treating him like the combo of Tom Brady and Pat Mahomes.

I think today is a good reality check. IMO, KP's ceiling is a Tannehill / Jimmy G. / Kirk Cousins type who is good enough to maintain NHALS but not a championship-level QB. The KP hype is totally out of line from what I believe we can reasonably expect from him. I think it's due to KP being from Pitt - I doubt we'd see the same hysteria if KP went to Boise State or some other school with no connection to the 'burgh. KP was the first QB taken in 2022, but he was outplayed by at least three others from that draft today- Purdy, Howell, and Ridder. Hopefully he can show that today was a fluke, but, until he does, I think we should ratchet back the hype a few notches.

Rookie pro season: 7-9 in 12 games

46 TD - 35 INT in 48 games…. That’s the guy we’re riding our hopes on, a guy who throws less than 1 TD per game…. A guy who literally since high school has been a productive QB only once, when he was a 23 year old 5th year starter in the ACC. Good luck with that.

Purdy, Howell, and Ridder all won today. All scored over 20 points. And combined for just 1 pick between the three of them. They probably all have superior offensive talent to the Steelers though.

You and Perch are hard asses on Pickett, but you both do not honestly think he is as bad as he was today.

Pickett is an accurate passer and something happened today that wrecked all the timing and exacerbated his outlier poor accuracy today….and it is most likely:

1.) Oline on skates
a. Too many arms in the air close in because the o-line is way too passive and gave up too much ground at the snap.
b. The initial shift in the line of scrimmage I would guess is the problem….I just kept seeing the RBs getting in KPs throwing halo in the first half and then obviously zero consistency in the running game.
2.) No run game see bullet 1 and then the quick scores didn’t help.
3.) Running backs in KP’s throwing halo. See bullet 1.
4.) Guessing WRs getting manhandled on their routes which is on the coaching to not get that incorporated into practice and also on the coaching for not screaming at the refs.


Absolutely no violence today! I thought we had something when McCaffery got blown up on the 3rd and 1….and then it all went down hill. Kenny and the Steelers will recover……I hope!

I didn’t like the pick because he’s a very limited QB with four years of bad tape, followed by one huge year when he was 23 playing against 19 year olds. I saw damn near every start he had at Pitt, this is what he is. We spent a 1st round pick on him, so I hope he works out. Evidence is showing he likely won’t.

I couldn’t care less if Pickett finishes top 15 in TD passes. An offense isn’t just one player. Ben played in a LOADED offense with a great defense early in his career and was no TD throwing machine. He was a game manager who did a great job performing his role.

Kenny has almost none of what Ben walked into.

It’s hilarious how you blame today entirely on Kenny Pickett. It’s pure comedy and that’s why I know you’re still butthurt Ben isn’t under center and he isn’t coming back.

Any QB that replaced your beloved Ben would be suffering your wrath. It’s kinda sweet actually.
