So, we're rooting for one of two things:

1) Pickett drastically turns it around

or

2) To fucking bottom the hell out. Go 3-14 and hope we end up clean on the other side.
this times a million

Before Highsmith strip sack...that coverage call by Austin? Was so bad. 3rd and 13 and a LBer has to sprint half the field to get in the passing lane? Madness. Gifted Browns as easy a 3rd long conversion as you could wish for.

Next Gen Stat of the game: Deshaun Watson completed just 3 off 11 pass attempts while under pressure Monday night, bringing his total to 7 of 22 while under pressure this season. His -26.7 completion percentage over expected while under pressure is the worst in the NFL among qualified quarterbacks.

Bench Najee.

Go Steelers.
Can we do something with Gunner too?

I was really pissed at Pickett at halftime.

He missed too many throws he should have made.

But......

1) As hard as I've been on him, this offense misses Diontae Johnson. Not much separation at all by our receivers. Freiermuth is starting to look like Najee out there. He runs like a 62 year old plumber.

2) Not sure any QB (especially a young QB) could succeed in Matt Canada's offense, let alone thrive. I defended the guy heading into this season. I'm done and will admit I was wrong. I could not believe the play calling last night. Back to Najee. He needs to be RB2 now and Warren needs to be the guy. Don't know if Warren can hold up to the punishment as an every down back, but it's time we find out. Canada had Najee out there at some of the worst possible times. Looked like he was trying to help Pickett fail.

3) Defenses have begun to realize that Pickett, like most NFL QB's, does not like pressure in his face.....and they consistently blew up the interior o-line. Backs failed to pick up blitzers.

Kenny sucked for a good portion of this game.....but this suck was a major team effort on the offensive end.

Thankfully I also saw some good from Kenny as the game went on. Hopefully Diontae is back in a few weeks and the timing improves with the current receivers.

Calvin Austin is going to be a very, very good player.

I could not believe that playcall. I have no idea what Austin was thinking...maybe he thought the disguise was so clever no opposing team could figure it out?

What really concerns me with Pickett is the 2 or 3 misfires a game when he does have a clean pocket and an open man. You can forgive some occasional bad reads with QBs this early in their careers. And you can certainly acknowledge that the supporting cast and the OC do him no favors. But that just magnifies the misfires even more. If you can’t make hay when the sun in shining you’ll starve in the bad weather.

I mean, even prime Ben was usually guilty of a boner or two a game. I forget who mentioned it earlier in the thread, but I'm now worried that offseason tweaks to mechanics for velocity may have messed with accuracy in game situations.

I’m laughing at his “I saw some good from Kenny” line. Dude was garbage. Had probably three decent NFL throws the entire game. Yet he “saw some good?” The only reason he saw some good is because he was pimping KP hard for a year. Dude was orgasming over Kenny Pickett hitting check downs on 3rd and 16 followed by Warren cranking out 14 yards.

What concerns me isn’t the 2-3 misfires but that he only had 2-3 good throws.

Pickett was also incredibly lucky the Browns failed to catch a Hoyer level bad interception that the Browns inexplicably dropped to start the second half.

Tomlin won a challenge, and won the game too!

Watt and Highsmith both scored touchdowns, and each one had a sack.

Is Stephen A. Smith destroying Tomlin for keeping him?

This genius has gone from hot trash Fichtner to toxic dumpster fire Canada. He had the receipts on how bad Canada was. Who was hanging around to be poached last year? Bieniemy could have been called. Moore?

Tomlin is a stubborn buffoon. This was KP's CRUCIAL second year and Tomlin keeps him saddled with an OC who makes NO defense have to guess anything, who seemingly cannot coordinate a varsity level offense.

And there sits Art, twiddling his thumbs.

Where is Connor Heyward?
Where is Pat fucking Fry?

This offense is TOTAL shit.

I cannot believe Canada makes it the entire season even with Captain Loyalty stalking the sidelines in his RayBans.

Yes. He was very reverential to Tomlin but said Canada has to go.

Too predictable. Doesn't attack. The players don't believe in him and Smith said Canada's ruining Pickett, Najee and Freiermuth.

Not sure why he picked out those 3 guys.

Hyper extension. Ouch.
I think that looks waaaaaaaaay worse than a hyper extension dude.

That didn't bend right. That's got to be shredded beyond belief.
That’s a dislocation and multiple torn ligaments. He got bent from the side. Out for the year and will never be the same player.
He was the best RB in the league up to that moment. A damn shame. Mad respect for that guy.

You can't have your pudding if you don't eat your meat.

The Steelers need to check off their boxes of establishing the run game and getting some quick passes completed with success before they're allowed to use different personnel or throw downfield. You can't go to those exotic H-Back curl routes until Najee has a feel for the game.

We don't threaten vertically with the pass, and we don't threaten horizontally with Najee. That's an easy, easy match-up even for mediocre defenses.

Starting to look a lot like the Mason/Duck offense under Fitchner in 2019. Same dink-and-dunk, go nowhere bullshit, and then hope to catch them sleeping on a play or two (like the 72-yd TD last night to Pickens).
