And I’m rooting for him to do well.

So, Rudolph and Josh Dobbs. Is Landry Jones busy next season?

The Brian St Pierre impersonator will have to set up shop in Minnesota.
Yeah. Rudolph to Minnesota would seem to be all too likely
No way is he coming back now. Not that I ever thought he was, anyway.

A Bears fan was whining to me about "who is going to take Fields?" That might also be the vikings or NE will get him for a 6th and a bag of chips

What’s hilarious about Fields is how many people were saying they’d trade a 2nd round pick for him.
I think the Bears will be lucky to get anything for him now. If they are drafting a QB at 1, Fields has to go. They will end up cutting him and let someone have him for nothing. The only way they get a late round draft pick for him is if there is a team who actually wants him.
Your 6th may be as high as it goes. The bag of chips would be an overpay.

I'd take a lottery ticket on Fields for a 6th before spending a top 15 pick on a few of these QB prospects.

There's really not much incentive for a team to trade for Fields unless they plan on playing him this year (or just have cash to blow). His '24 fully G'd cap hit is $6M+ and then you'd have to soon pick up his 5th yr option at ~$26M if you wanted rights to him past this year. If your just trading for him to sit behind a vet QB this year so he can learn or be depth, just wait until CHI releases him -- if they do, that is. If not traded he's $6M on their '24 cap no matter what they do with him -- might as well keep him unless it interferes with having him in the room with the new drafted QB (C. Williams).
Maybe a couple teams need a QB2 if they aren't drafting one, but I can't think any of the top of my head.
Basically put up the numbers of Pickett+ and most of Najee last year, without much of a supporting cast. I'm willing to bet at least two of the QBs in the top 5 in the media anointed "best QB class of our lifetime" will never be able to say the same.
I suppose you could just wait till he's cut and take the gamble at a reduced price salary-wise and save the late round pick, though, so point taken.

As I said all along, the Steelers should have signed Mason Rudolph to compete for starter. People remember his early career struggles instead of looking at him right now. He’s a good QB, I’m disappointed they let him go.
I live in Colorado. No one here (or in Seattle) believes in Russell Wilson. And he’s literally 5’10” and 35 years old, on the downside of his career. Mason is on the rise. Hope I’m wrong.

Probably a good spot for Mason. He’s def the backup and if Levis doesn’t pan out he might even have a chance to start. Plus, Nashville is kind of a happening place to live. Thanks for your service, Mason. Beating Seattle last season was the highlight of the year for me.

23 million AAV and 4 years of term is quite a bit for Ridley.

Makes me feel better about Ridley. We weren’t going to and glad we didn’t pay that.

Hey, you know who the Titans could have signed a few years ago for nearly the same price?
AJ Brown

Yeah, just crazy $. Wonder if the Tits were under the cap floor or something. And sorry for putting the deal in hockey terms

Where's all the folks that swore Mason was going to get $10M+ a year and get paid more than what the Steelers paid Mitch?
C'mon on out witcha.

Happy for Mason.
Unbelievable Trubisky got such a huge contract as a back up and Rudolph can only get a 1 year deal.
Rudolph will be starting for that team in no time.

Let the record show he’s Will Levis’s backup for about a third of the yearly value we signed Trubisky for a couple years ago.
Levis didn't exactly light the world on fire.Steelperch wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2024 10:24 pmLet the record show he’s Will Levis’s backup for about a third of the yearly value we signed Trubisky for a couple years ago.![]()
I wouldn't be shocked at all to see Mason end up being the starter over there in Nashville.
