1/20 Amarius Mims OT UGA
A perfect fit for the Steelers, Tomlin, and OC Smith

2/51 Malachi Corley WR Western Kentucky / Roman Wilson WR Michigan
The Steelers on paper seem pretty full at WR particularly given OC Smith coming on board but every WR currently on the roster is very cheap and very short term. They’ve been connected to several FA and draftee gamebreaker types and I just don’t think they are gonna walk away from drafting a pretty good WR prospect this year

3/84 Brandon Fiske DE Florida State
Not my favorite pick here but again it just feels like a Steelers type pick. Should develop into a decent Steelers type starter imo

3/98 Sedrick Van Pran C UGA
Puke. Short armed and too small but it just feels like a year where the hype fave is gonna be the pick at 98 Ughhhh

4/119 Junior Colson ILB Michigan
Tough guy who fits the Steelers mold at ILB

6/178 Ray Davis RB Kentucky
If he falls this far I think he will be a Steeler. Not a horrible pick in the 6th

6/195 Shonn Stevens CB Ferris State
You know it’s happening. Don’t argue. Lol

Mims is definitely in play if still on the board when we select, which is highly probable

If they go that route and forgo JPJ at 20, (who may or may not be there at 20), I think they should consider trading up to position themselves to get Frazier if he doesn’t get selected too high.

Have to hit on C this year. I don’t want to believe they’re planning on Herbig or Daniels et al to play C.

I’m not as worried about center as most

The fact is the Steelers OL looked ALOT better when they had Jones and Moore at the OT spots even with Cole at center

If the Steelers commit to Jones and Mims at the OT spots they will be well on their way

Herbig or Daniels are preferred to a bad draft pick Imo but I suspect the Steelers will spend a draft pick nonetheless

I think OT and serious WR talent are much more crucial than an early round center

I think this one is really easy.

They'll either go C, WR, OT

or T, WR, C.

That's it.

Somewhat agree with this. I don't think they are going back to back offensive linemen. Also wouldn't be surprised if CB is one of the first 3 picks.
In their current state, I hate everything about this organization.

Being that we have 2 third rounders, I should have added that CB will be one of our first 4 picks, pretty much guaranteed.

While I understand that Arthur Smith's offense doesn't exactly make WR's a focal point, having George Pickens being the lone threat simply isn't enough.

They are going to need to find another big-time receiver and I think that guy will be a second rounder. They MIGHT wait until the third round, because the Steelers have been so good at drafting WR's, but they can't miss with that pick.

At corner, they will have several options. The cover is not as bare (even in free agency) as WR is at present.

I expect a CB to be one of the third rounders but I think the second rounder has to be a difference making WR.

I wouldn't even rule out a Brian Thomas type in the 1st.

If say Bowers slips past 13, I would hope they'd trade up for him. I think he's that big of a talent and could help offset not getting a Wr until late 3rd or 4th.

They need to nail those first 4 picks.

You trade up for Bowers, as great as he is, you lose 2 or maybe even 3 guys you are going to probably need to start right away.

Man Jizz Mop, I hope your right. I just kept waiting & hoping to see a little spark out of Washington. I just never really seen anything to cement that hope. However, with that coaching staff & scheme, everything & everybody looked like shit. Even Muth looked like an off season cut, because of that staff & offense.

My draft opinion: Khan needs/has to find a way to get another pick before our #51. Everything I can come with, in my mind, to blow this draft out the water, involves one more top 51 pick. I'm praying there ends up somebody there at 20 the Steelers don't want or need (like a Bowers type) that teams are offering to trade another high #2 to us for. Move down down from 20 maybe 4-9 spots. 3 in the top 51 & I can devise lotsa ways to fill the major holes with good prospects. That #1 second rounder last year spoiled me. Damn, I wish we had that again this year.

It’s just amazing that the Steelers were able to get that pick for Chase Claypool, yet we’re only able to trade DJ for JAG and a bag of chips.
DJ, despite all his issues, is sooo much better than Claypool!

Bowers will be in his break when Washington finally gets moving.

The Steelers could move Washington to Rt and save a draft pick.

I agree, and I think this is why they are interviewing Penix.

Is it remotely possible they draft him?? I suppose, but I really think it's to try and get teams thinking they'll draft him, to create some trade leverage.

Add in that both Wilson and Fields are UFAs after the season, it adds weight to the Penix situation.

Agreed on all points.

I'll add, in almost every simulation I've run, the top 3 or 4 Centers are off the board by the time the get to the Steelers 2nd round selection.

So, unless they are okay taking Nourzad a bit later, (and risk another team has the same idea- but earlier) they have to target C with their 1st pick, whether at 20 or a trade down.

Say Bowers somehow slips to 20 (for some odd ball reason he's slipped out of the Top 10 on many draft boards) you would trade 20 to a team looking up who may want him. That's crazy. Damn near everyone here screams BPA, BPA, BPA when it comes to Steelers drafting in 1st RD as when they draft for need it never works for them. We have seen some horrendous draft picks when drafting for need.

If Bowers is there (anything can happen) and they pass on him, that would be idiotic. Dude's a straight up Balla and would wreak havoc in the middle of the field. A TE of his caliber is a QB's best friend.

Maybe Bowers is the exception to the rule, however, I look at TEs taken in the 1st round in last 10 drafts or so and the results? Are ugly. Really ugly. Best TEs in NFL?

Kittle 5th round
Kelce 3rd round
Andrews 3rd round

Of course, doesn't mean Bowers won't become a stud year 1 but drafting TEs high is a cautionary tale and I'd prefer PS address the oline or CB at 20. If Bowers "falls" and a team wants to come up and grab him? Sure.

The Steelers had their OL coach and an area scout at Washington's pro day. Troy Fautanu is an older prospect (will turn 24 in October), but checks a lot of other important boxes.

I just think there’s more depth at tackle than center in this draft. Take JPJ II at 1.20, don’t worry about the position until 2040.

At 2.51 best WR or tackle.

Third round, the position that wasn’t addressed in the second, plus corner.

Although I’m warming up to the idea if JPJ is gone a small trade down and snag Frazier.

Depending on WR or tackle(i think tackles are gone by then) consider CB over tackle and take WR in Rnd 3.
