Okay, none of those things will happen, at least not yet.
Roman Wilson may send Jefferson to the bench. That might be possible later in the year but it isn't happening now. Tomlin values experience.
Najee is going nowhere and I don't believe he should. Behind this fucking TERRIBLE o-line, it's going to be difficult for anybody to run. It's going to (as usual) take the o-line until around week 10 to get it together. Once that happens both backs will tear shit up....if they aren't killed first.
When the o-line aren't missing blocks, they're holding. Why it takes them half a season to get their shit together, I don't know but you can set your watch by it.
I imagine Russell Wilson will start next week and I have no problem with that, although I think Fields was in for a big day if Broderick Jones stays on the bench.

Dumb.
Why in the fuck was Broderick Jones in the game? Why? Fautanu was playing well.
The amount of penalties, even before and after Jones was ridiculous.
This is a terribly coached team.

I'm not as down as some of you. We've played sloppy on O and had some really conservative play calling to guard against any risk (ie. the dreaded turnovers). Still, we've moved the ball well at times. We are missing that cutting edge. Russell Wilson is slow to read defenses but not Justin Fields slow. I've got to think he identifies open WRs more quickly.
I think this Oline will continue to improve with Fautanu getting more experience, Jones benched, and Seumalo back. Now, if we can get Russ back and perhaps trade for a semi-competent #2 WR, we may have something.

Baltimore losing to the Raiders at home had to be the upset of the day. Cincy could have won their game, but they suddenly remembered they are the Bungles (or the refs remembered they were paying the Chiefs, take your pick). Both of these teams are playing much better football than our team right now, who beat a question mark of a team in Atlanta and barely scraped by a team they should have beaten the brakes off of today. The division lead is right now nothing more than a quirk of scheduling that is giving Tomlin time to somehow pull this thing together. He's got to figure out this OL, they are giving us all of the growing pains they can possibly generate.

The Steelers have two very mid QBs and a bottom 5 WR room.
Is this going to get better?
Likely not.

The bigger issue is aggressiveness. They tried to milk the entire second half clock. All of the good things in play design and play calling we saw in the first half were intentionally shut down in the 2H. It’s that mentality of holding on for a narrow win that is infuriating.. They never have it in them mentally to just bury a bad team.Orangesteel wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2024 12:43 amThe Steelers have two very mid QBs and a bottom 5 WR room.

Imagine if they came out in the second half 5 wide. Spread the field, use a little motion to force the D to declare man vs. zone, and let Fields go to work with the option to tuck it and run. The Broncos would have been completely blindsided.Steelperch wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2024 12:47 amThe bigger issue is aggressiveness. They tried to milk the entire second half clock. But we know that never crossed Tomlin and company's minds. They would rather slowly hand the ball off to our slow ass RB and try to grind out 3, maybe 4 yards against stacked and quickly closing boxes, and just cross their fingers praying they can get it to 3rd and 2 each drive.
It's just maddening. But as long as the Steelers keep eking out 9 win seasons, as they'll probably do again this year, the dumbass fans will not only keep tolerating it, but ultimately accept is as just the way things are. Like we have 1 TD in 8 quarters of football, but even on here you have fans pushing back to any criticism because SCOREBOARD. It's so disheartening. Our offense was a joke in week one against a meh Falcons D and most of the talk online was positive about Smith and the offense lol.

Swiss, enough with the rosey bullshit. If this was a situation where a team went a few weeks scoring under 20 points, road games, going against tough defenses, then fine.
This is a MULTI-YEAR thing; the Steelers are trying to win games 16-10 or 17-13 every damn week. Their ability to win or lose is based on how many sacks and QB pressures their all world edge rusher has.
This is not a serious football team. I think what makes it extra frustrating to watch is how awesome this defense is. Imagine if we only had a middle of the road offense?
Here is the deal; the story about the failed Aiyuk trade is true. So, as it is, the Steelers believed up until the first game of the season that Aiyuk would be on this team. The Niners were on the damn phone finalizing a deal when it fell apart.
Now Van Jefferson is our #2 and we’ve scored 1 touchdown in 8 quarters of football. It’s another year of the same exact bullshit. This is not a serious franchise.

Thank Arthur Smith for that shit.
And all it is doing is taking away from Jaylen, not from Najee.
Jaylen Warren was only behind CMC and Lamar last year in YPC in the entire NFL. He was, arguably with Pickens, our best player on offense last year. So far this year in 8 quarters of football he has 11 fucking carries on a team who wants to run the ball more than anyone else in the league.
