Would be nice if they'd move him around a bit or do anything other than the vanilla defense they always run. It's pretty easy to scheme to stop him which makes it even more incredible he's about to put up the numbers he does. But we do what we do.
Steelers Colts Gameday Bedwetting Thread
Re: Steelers Colts Gameday Bedwetting Thread
Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”

The last play of the 3rd quarter he rushed from the other side. So we have that going for us.
Yeah, I don’t know why they don’t design more exotic rush packages for him

Maybe Roman Wilson can get a hat.
I know, it’s SUPER tough to squeeze in as a rookie when your offense has this much talent. Oozing with talent, there aren’t enough hats!

100% spot on.Steeldrama wrote: ↑Sun Sep 29, 2024 10:33 pmSometimes you just gotta consider the sourceFields put up 360+ yards of offense and 3 Tds today and people are shitting on him. That isn’t right.
One of the poasters doing the shitting doesn’t think Josh Allen is a top 5 quarterback and started a Ben must retire thread….4 years before he actually retired.
The other shitters i never heard of and have no track record
The struggles of the offense at root lie with coaching and scheme.
Perch and others have it right.
No qb in the NFL could excel wearing a Steelers uniform.
Blaming Fields or pining for Wilson is just shit off stupid
Plenty of blame to go around
Fields fumbled but in case you missed it so did Pickens.
Yep the botched snap sucked but how about getting out of bounds Najee instead of fighting for another foot
AND WHY IN THE FUCK WAS JOSH DOWNS REPEATEDLY COVER BY SAFETIES AND WHITE LINEBACKERS
Low Watt must’ve had money on the game. Ghost
The Colts were far from a formidable foe
Tomlin special
Out coached and out played
Najee Sucks. When Warren gets back, he has to start. Need to get a new RB next draft
Obliteration Is Imminent
Agreed.anpsteel wrote: ↑Sun Sep 29, 2024 11:33 pmI like Justin Fields
I want him to succeed
He’s not being done any favors with this ridiculous play calling.
Every team knows Tomlins tendencies. Irrespective of the coordinator
And of course, Tomlins offensive schemes aside, Fields hasn’t really shown he’s capable of winning the game on his own, so the D just stacks the box
Until the offense shows they can make the defense pay, they’ll keep loading the box daring the Steelers to throw
It wouldn't matter if Peyton Manning or PH played for us. You almost always have to give our QB's an "Incomplete" bc you don't know what is truly their fault or if they are being handcuffed.
Tomlin doesn't know offensive football, which is interesting to me bc he played WR in college.
I was "meh" on JF coming to Pittsburgh bc he was so cheap. He's exceeded my expectations, but any QB that comes to this team has to transcend the shitting coaching. I don't think JF can do that. Hope to be wrong.

*I expect more points, relatively speaking, than expected. I would bet the over. I think the run D takes a step or two back today and Richardson hits a couple of deep passes. Fields will make a big play or two with his feet today. Najee will do his usual 20 carries for 75 yards.
*Should be a close one per usual, but I'm seeking a couple of turnovers for the Steelers, including one late, for a 24-20 Colts win.

Those are the rules. You can’t sack the QB and land with all your weight on the QB. The dude sacked the QB and landed with all the weight on the QB. He freed his one left arm but decided against putting it in the crocodile position and it cost him 15 yards. Cut and dry call. Perhaps the ref could have swallowed the whistle. Same thing on Minkah’s URP.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2024 3:20 pmHahah. You, sir, are watching a different game on Sundays.

Hah thanks. I just thought the Colts OL, even with their injuries, matched up well to us.
I was expecting a standard Najee game and not for him to barely get back to the LOS.
Going on the road against a team that was 1-2 and felt like they were playing for their season, and their fans treating it as such as well... those are tough to match. The Colts were all over our conservative game plan to start, and we didn't adjust when Flacco came in and just picked us apart underneath.

312 yards passing, 9.2 Y/A, 1 TD
2 TDs rushing, 10 CAR 55 YDS
Minus clutch time... a pretty good day at the office for Fields.
If Fields ever develops into a clutch QB at the NFL level, we may have something.
An article I read after we acquired him said one reason the Bears gave up on Fields is they concluded he didn't have the clutch gene... had several chances late in games but did not come thru. Fair or not I do not know.
The offense started off well on our final drive. 2 first downs and Fields looked good. It imploded that last series.

Yep, that's been a big (and fair criticism) of him.
QB rating in the fourth quarter:
2021: 69.5
2022: 61.3
2023: 53.4
And that doesn't account for all the fumbles too.
This year the script has been flipped.. so far.

There are three kinds of OCs:
Type A understand offense globally and can adjust to their talent and opponents
Type B have a thing they know how to do that has succeeded in the past and they are experts at what they do
Type C don't really know shit about anything and do pretty much the opposite of what they need to do to win.
A. Reid
B. Smith
C. Canada

Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 82 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.
