Here's a good one.
The OL coach should have been canned after this game, probably much sooner. Jones is incredibly bad, as if he doesn't know how to play the position, due to his inability to learn, or the way he's being taught. Incredibly bad.
Coach Mike's attention to detail is much more concentrated on using 25 words in place of 2. This is just ridiculous.

"I'm institutionalized, man," he joked. "I gotta have it. I just love the challenges week in and week out that this job provides: the growth in it, the collective growth, the individual growth."
This o-line, outside of Frazier is why I'm afraid to start Russ anytime soon even though it's very possible he'll be better than Fields.
Russ might die.
The o-line seems to come together normally in the second half of the season.
I would wait to see if Fields can do more in the first half and if he can't put up 3 + TD's like he did against the Colts, then go ahead and turn to Russ.
I would give Justin this final week to really ball out.
.....but I think Tomlin pulls the plug and starts Wilson vs the Raiders.
We'll see how it goes.

Broderick Jones is a tragedy right now. Even on positive plays for us, he's milliseconds from being beaten. Just looks clueless and uninterested on some plays.

Steelers should hire a Warren Zevon cover to personally coach Broderick.

BTW, he’s going to be real entertaining to watch up against Max Crosby.

I watched Jones on a rewatch. Besides his 2 penalty game I think his poor performances are greatly exaggerated. The first play in the film above, looks like a goof, but in his defense he did have 2 free guys getting ready to crash down the line. He made the outside guy go wider, and confused the DL a bit. Harris should be fast enough to get what he needed.
The other play where you could blame Heyward or Jones; probably goes in the category of just hit someone and don't think about what man you have.
Most of the time Jones moves his guy out of the way. Pass protection seems decent enough...when he gets beat, it was by design to get the QB to step-up for a timing blitz, by looping the Edge extra wide or Fields should step-up.

I honestly think Jones could derive the Quadratic Formula before being able to grasp that last thought.LakecrestSteeler wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2024 4:52 pmI watched Jones on a rewatch.
