Re: Purdy lousy
Purdy is better than Pickett when you take into account skill levels but Purdy also isn’t top tier talent.
The end.
The end.
Of course he isn’t. Small, not super athletic, mediocre arm etc.
It’s why he went where he did.
Nobody has been saying otherwise..
He knows where to go with the ball and doesn’t play the game scared like KP did.
Purdy was taken way too late. Pickett way too early.
Thanks Colbert.

Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 84 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.
Duh. Pretty sure we all did. I certainly didn’t want him to fail.Kenny Pickett was a first round QB so you’re damn straight I wanted Pickett to succeed in Pittsburgh
Not sure which poster it was but “Tiny hands, smaller heart” describes him perfectly.
I too was disappointed bout the way he pissed and moaned his way outa here.
Ultimately it was for the better though.
And now he’s more of a backup than he would have been here given age difference between Wilson/Hurts

Would we have managed 4-2 with Pickett instead of Fields?
Those were very much the type of game Pickett was winning here. Just not sure he would have done with his arm what Fields did with his legs.
If Kenny doesn't piss and moan his way off the team we might still be talking wildcard instead of clinching the division.

If I’m Fields, I sign on as long-term backup.
Russ is old and we have nobody on the roster who is QB of the future.
Lots of possible starts out there.
If he goes anywhere as the starter they’ll always be looking to replace him.
He could have many years of security right here.
And could be an ideal backup given his skill set.

A lot of wisdom here, imo. I foresee quarterback jobs for veterans becoming a bit more competitive moving into the future.955876 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2024 8:04 pmIf I’m Fields, I sign on as long-term backup.

There is a lot of talent which will be emerging from the college game over the next couple of seasons. Talking about players whose hype will have been building for years now.
In my mind, teams are more likely to try to develop a fresh young player on their own, rather than rebuild or recreate a name who has moved on from another organization or two.
As for Fields, he would be wise to consider that the next team he signs with may be his last best shot. And he has already has working relationships in Pittsburgh, which includes some on field success.
Pabst outlined my exception.Steelperch wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2024 9:03 pmHow is it a big oof? Did Purdy not have a great season? Did he not come 1 Mahomes drive from being SB champ? Was he not MVP worthy?Deebo wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2024 7:44 pmAlmost the 1 year anniversary of that post.Pabst wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2024 4:26 pm

That's a big ooof
Let’s look at the leagues last 10 MVP QBs vs Purdy last season. Out of those 11 QB seasons his would rank
1st in YPA
2nd in comp%
6th in passing yards
5th in QB Rating
9th in TD Passes
So basically 2023 Brock Purdy was about the average of the MVP seasons of Mahomes, Brady, Ryan, Rodgers, Jackson & Newton. The medias love affair with Lamar’s athleticism and Purdy being a 7th round pick is what held him back from getting votes.
Oof indeed.
STD crowned his ass yet denied he did.
