Re: Losing streak perspective
Consensus seems to be that it's nigh impossible for Steelers to win a playoff game in Houston. How then...pray tell, did Steelers register wins against Washington and baltimore this year??

Yes, I know you have been calling him out.swissvale72 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 10:45 pmLook...I've been calling out Tomlin as a gameday dumbfuck and advocating for his ouster for over a decade. At the same time, I've also said, I believe accurately, that his job security rivals the pope's, so I'm not going to root for losses, thinking that will get Tomlin fired. It's this simple. I look forward to watching the Steelers play in January. I'm going to root for them to win so that their season continues, and perhaps delude myself, admittedly, into thinking that will happenDumlinBumlinStumlin wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 10:36 pmI’m not wallowing in dispair Swiss, just I accept the failure and won’t pretend they they will succeedswissvale72 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 9:48 pm
"Foolish optimism," ok...believe what i said was that I want to see my team's season extended as long as possible. If you'd rather be totally negative and wallow in despair, totally up to you.
This guy is a complete fraud You need to go learn about fraudulent things. You live with too much fantasy in your brain
I think you should root for the losses so the collective “Tomlin is God” mantra can be dismantled.
It’s really SBI to lose and lose more

They usually play Baltimore tough. It’s a divisional game. Commanders? They were using a practice squad player at RB and K, starting LT was out and Lattimore wasn’t activated for the game. Steelers won by a point. The ONLY perspective is that this is yet another end of year collapse by Tomlin's Steelers. So what if the last three opponents were arguably the best three teams in the NFL although I think the Lions, Bills and Vikings might have something to say about that. It's how the Steelers lost as mentioned before. They were crushed. In all three games. They aren't beating Cincinnati, they aren't winning a playoff game. Book it. It's the same old shit sandwich from Cool Shades and his merry band of asshats.

Also, Tomlin is incapable of learning. He's had these December skids damn near every year and nothing has ever changed. He isn't going to unleash his coordinators come January. His fingerprints will be all over whatever shitty schemes they trot out on Wild Card weekend when they get obliterated.
Also - the 2004 team was 15-1 w a lot of those guys coming back in 2005 and got hot down the stretch. Nothing comparable at all.

I mean it’s not impossible but highly unlikely. Listen, I want to watch the Steelers play as many games as possible too. I think it’s silly for people to wish for losses because at the end of the day Tomlin ain’t getting fired. Who says we play Houston? Is that a lock? I think that depends on beating Cincy? I have zero faith in this coaching staff and team to win another game this season. I said that after the Eagles loss. It is even worse than that. He seems to have doubled down even more. Strip out more risk. Only throw outside the numbers. Minimize middle of the field. Do not go for 7 to end the half. Always defer. Never use 3rd and 4th down together for a first down. The clock is always the enemy! Minimize blitzing.955876 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 5:20 pmThat’s because Cowher finally realized in that postseason he needed to deviate from his tendencies.Remember getting clobbered by the Manning led colts in the regular season and then beating them to advance to the AFC Championship game? Of course that was under Cowher...
Something Jibbs has never done nor believes he needs to.
He’s the smartest guy in the room. He won a Super Bowl 17 years ago. His plan is solid. Players just aren’t executing it.

It is not a lock, but much more it depends on Rats´ result against Browns. If they win, our result is meaningless.Works At A Bank wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2024 3:09 amWho says we play Houston? Our result is not meaningless.
If we lose next week to the Bengals, we can conceivably fall as low of the 7th seed if the Broncos and Chargers win out.
Which puts us @ Buffalo unless the Bills lose their last two games and drop to #3.
If we lose to Cincy and the Chargers beat Las Vegas, we'll be at best the sixth seed going to Baltimore again. Unless the Broncos win out, then back down to seventh.
I would love to see us as the seventh seed and have the Bills destroy us 54-0.
*roots for losses*
And if that happens Dunce will still pat his lapdog on the head and tell him “good boy” cuz the playoffs are a crapshoot anyways to him.I would love to see us as the seventh seed and have the Bills destroy us 54-0.
A bounce here and a bounce there.
Never his dipshit HC’s fault.
Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 84 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.

Tomlin is outwitted by the Texans staff. Do you forget the 30-6 beating they put on the Steelers last year with a rookie QB?swissvale72 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 11:31 pmConsensus seems to be that it's nigh impossible for Steelers to win a playoff game in Houston. Tomlin’s predictable defense gets destroyed in the playoffs by good or even lesser opponents every year. They’ve given up
31 to the Bills
42 to the Chiefs
48 to the Browns with a young Baker Mayfield at QB and no HC on the sidelines
45 to the Jags led by Blake Bortles
36 to the Pats
The only playoff wins since 2010 have come agains backup QBs AJ Mccarron, Matt Moore and Alex Smith. Unless our opponent loses its QB this weekend, you can bet whoever we play will put up 30+ points on Tomlin’s defense and the Steelers will lose. We’ve got 14 years of evidence. What more could you possibly need?

-habe to embrace NHALS or go nuts. Sorry...I do neither. I enjoy seeing my team extend their season as long as possible...tho as I've oft said...don't really enjoy the games, just suffer through them and hope we're happy in the end

It’s been 14 years since the Steelers beat a team in the playoffs with their starting QB. Every loss they gave up over 30 points. Tomlin and his defense are proven failures in the playoffs. 14 years is way longer than most coaches get in the league.. The only people who need more proof if you and the Rooney family.swissvale72 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2024 12:11 amNeeded to pause bungs-doncos at 17-17.

If they get lucky and beat a slumping Texans team, they have zero shot at winning in KC the next week. I’ll post my credit card info in this thread for you guys to use if they win 2 playoff games this year, let alone the 4 needed to win a Lombardi.
I enjoyed NHALS like a national holiday and am stress free for the annual December slide and playoff failure. These assholes get no more of my emotion.

You're not serious about enjoying this no losing season bullshit. I thoroughly enjoy NHALS because it’s a reasonable expectation. I know for a fact they have zero shot at winning a SB. I’m not going to bang my head up against a wall or get stressed out because they aren’t winning titles. Ownership set the standard as having a winning record a playoff apperance. That is Rooney’s words and actions. If those assholes aren’t serious about winning titles why the fuck should I be? I created my NHALS celebration thread a few weeks back, had a good time with it then watched the annual collapse with no sense of surprise or bewilderment. I’m not getting into the coyote failing at catching the roadrunner thing with this team. I’m smarter than that. We all knew how this season would end before it started. Spoiler alert, I know how next season goes too.swissvale72 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2024 3:30 amYou're not serious about enjoying this no losing season bullshit. I am finding it funny though- there are still Tomlin defenders out there.
I just watched someone make a post on X lambasting those lousy fair weather Steeler fans who want "instant gratification" and want to tear everything down the instant they don't get it.
I wondered aloud to him as to how long the playoff drought had to go on before even he saw how silly an "instant gratification" argument sounded to him.
8 years? 10 years? 20 years?
Another Steeler fan says hey, we have won 12% of all Super Bowls , and that's the highest percentage of any team (shared with the Patriots)...so things could be worse...we could be Bills fans or Jets fans.
Trying to think of the snarkiest reply I can think of to the "Hey, it could be worse...we could be (insert team name here) fans" argument.
Some Tomlin fans are stout and tenacious...I'll give them that.

It's worse than that for ownership, they give themselves a championship not just participation trophy for every extension year...white guilt makes it easy to be a champion in your own eyes.
What's more important, winning on the field or being a social justice champion? His answer to that isn't the same as ours.
Steelers are now the least feared of the 14 playoff teams and that includes the winner of the NFC South and West. They are the opposite of the 2005 Steelers, who got hot at the right time.

Choosing a starting point strategically makes a huge difference. What about the first forty years of nothing? And some of that was in a ten or twelve team league. Now compare to the Packers.
