Anyone who is actually cheering and pulling for this team to win a playoff game this year, which will ultimately be pointless in that they are closer to the Browns than they are to being an actual contender -- and that will only give Tomlin more incentive to keep trudging along and the organization an excuse to maintain status quo -- is, with all due respect of course, a GD fool.
I pray to all that is holy that whoever we play next week beats the ever-loving hell out of this team in as embarrassing and humbling a fashion as possible. I want a complete disaster. A train wreck. I want next week to make the Hindenburg look like a lovely picnic in the park.
The Steelers organization, Mike Tomlin, and our dumbass fans who keep buying the jerseys and cheering this joyless clusterfuck on, need to be humbled and humbled badly. Keep the ugly L's coming. There are way too many folks here and online that continue to have hope and this hope is HURTING this organization from doing what needs to be done and hitting the eject button.
All relationships end badly. It MUST get worse for the separation to be completed.
So to all you yinzers holding out hope? You all can get bent. You're part of the problem. You're helping this organization justify staying the course. I hope the Texans (or preferably) the Ravens ANNIHILATE this team next weekend. I want to see one of the ugliest, worst losses in our history, which will be tough to top given our last 5 playoff games. I want an '89 Browns level destruction.
And if that doesn't do the trick? Then let's get our asses beat up and down all next year too.
We have to bottom out to get clean. I've been saying it all year.
Ugly ass wins by attrition only hurt us and delay the inevitable.
Keep the L's coming.

The sad thing is we all know the team ends the year with 5 straight losses and allows 30+ points in their playoff loss… and the ownership group will make no significant changes.
I’ll wait for someone here to call us bedwetters now. Wet beds, but right every year like clockwork!

The NFL now operates on short memory destruction and the ability to program people to believe shit.
Every year it's like the previous one didn't exist.
If one knew what happened in the past, this is not a surprise. It's actually surprising how bad the decline is.

It's sad.
Our fans obviously mean well, but putting their head in the sand and just hoping that reality above ground isn't actually reality is hurting the trajectory of this organization.
If the fans checked out, quit buying the jerseys (think of all the sad saps who bought Pickett jerseys lol), and quit showing up to games, the needed change would happen. If Acrisure was 75% full of Ravens fans while we're getting our asses handed to us next year with Lamar slicing us up, Art II for all of his warts would not put up with that shit.
But it's like our fans have Stockholm syndrome. Why root for bad things to happen, you know nothing will ever change anyways... Tomlin would get hired by another team within minutes after he would be let go... The next guy we hire is probably not going to be as good. Maybe... But... If only...
F that.

Only thing that can salvage the last decade of Tomlin failures is to trade him for picks this year but we know Rooney doesn't have the balls to do it.
Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”

Not convinced I need any humbling as a Steeler fan.
Honestly, I've been calling for Tomlin's head since 2012 after musing about it since 2009.
The time to make a change was in Ben's prime. Now I'm just apathetic and can't really believe there are people still emotionally invested in this shitshow.

Perhaps A2 could help us by retiring….ushering in the new era of Steeler football.
When camp rolls around this will all be forgotten and a new beautiful season will start, smiles abound.

You got handed 10 empty calorie wins this year. This board and Steelers fan across the world got to hope for most of this season that they maybe, possibly, could be, might be a real contender this year.
We need humbled much worse than this year.
We need a losing streak that goes much more than 4 games.
Hopefully we go into next year with Fields and a Will Howard type if Tomlin is back and we start the year 0-7.

Yep. We have a lot of really, really, really dumb, simple-minded, live in the moment fans. Who don't realize they're actually hurting the situation by still buying jerseys, showing up to games, and getting their pom-poms out every September.

I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if the Steelers win Saturday night.
Lamar is an idiot come playoff time and if someone can talk ANY sense into the extremely insane Pickens and explain to him that after he's traded this April, hopefully to a terrible organization like the Bears, his career will be over soon just like Diontae Johnson, maybe he'll ball out Saturday Night.
If Pickens does, in what will likely be his final game as a Steeler, there's a very good chance they can beat the Ravens.

This is what Rooney relies on. As long as the turnstiles keep turning....
True. However, it is crucial that Jibbs not be allowed to scout, select, or coach the new QB.
He will ruin him as he has done to everything he touches.
Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 84 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.

We'll likely find out Saturday night.
I loathe Tomlin but if the Steelers can somehow get Pickens to play like he actually can, there is ZERO DOUBT they can beat the Ravens.

This team is aimless, rudderless and pointless.
They get behind one score and it’s all over.

TB -- I totally get where you are coming from. I really do. But you are like Charlie Brown. You keep thinking that moment will come. You'll finally kick that ball and Rooney will finally fire Tomlin. It makes me sick, but we all know that isn't happening.
The Ravens could smash us 35-7 next week and nothing will be done. All we will hear about from the media is poor Tomlin. Such an amazing coach but he got saddled with a declining Russ and a headcase Pickens. It will be all the players faults.
Our only prayer is that Tomlin decides to walk and go into TV for a bit. Then if he comes back, we'd have his right and get trade capital. Otherwise, we are fucked as long as Tomlin wants this cushy gig.

There’s a piece of this puzzle thats missing here.
If (or when) we manage to lose a playoff game in some head-scratching, ‘never seen this before’ fashion, the story wont be about Tomlin’s failure.
The story will be about Tomlin’s success.
It always is.
The low bar for Tomlin is veiled by NHALS.

Extending Tomlin makes Art feel like a champion. It's so much easier to be one in your mind than on the field. What a weak little nepo baby he is.
The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently.

Just some thoughts on the upcoming game...
I expect if this game were to be played 20 times, that the Ravens would win 16 of 'em and most of those would be a comfortable victory. More talented, better coached, and playing at home.
However, I am anticipating a possibility that Tomlin actually throws some caution to the wind and has a game plan that is a little more desperate and creative. And that Tomlin manages to squeeze in an additional 2-3 horseshoes up his ass beyond the standard Sunday 7 starter pack he normally rocks and that we actually get some curveballs past the Ravens.
And say we knock off Baltimore in a close game doing the above? Folks on here and the NFL media will be full throttle go-go gadget boner for Tomlin, with all the I told ya so talk, fawning over our fearless bug-eyed leader, talking about how under-appreciated he is (which is ironic as Tomlin is probably the most over-appreciated head coach in the league)...
And that will be all fine and well for a week. The pom-poms will be out, the pitchers of kool-aid will be passed around merrily, and all of us will be fat and happy in a post-victory stupor.
...But I won't be fooled for a second. Because I know that he's a natural coward. In a big moment when bold creativity is needed, he will ultimately crawl into his safe little hole and play not to lose rather than risk it to win. And that ain't winning us jack shit of importance. We'll get knocked out the next week and will have all of the same issues then, but made doubly worse with a playoff win. Tomlin will be that more incentivized to keep trudging along and staying the course. We were 10-3! We won a playoff game! We're sooooooo close! The odds of signing Russ to an extension greatly increase with a playoff win, especially if he plays well. We'll run back the same coaching staff, like our dumbass OL coach who should've resigned of embarrassment after the Dotson debacle.
So let's put on our big boy pants, swallow our pride instead of swallowing the rah-rah bullshit, and let's hope for the best outcome for a variety of reasons: the Steelers getting completely embarrassed.

They win, and I get to see them play another week, another week of waking up with excitement on game day morning.
They lose, even lose big, nothing happens. The shit you said about next year will still happen.
Watched Hard Knocks last night. Made me sick to see the douchebag Art II. Fuck that guy. Ever since he hung Ben out to dry on the eve of the 2010 draft; I've hated that bitch. And he just keeps on extending Tomlin. Fuck him !!
