I heard the guy is legit but do they really want to overpay for a QB at his peak which seems just a little above average.

The Steelers have brought in a variety of former first round pick reclamation projects over the last 5+ years. None have worked out, obviously. However, TL would be the most accomplished and talented of the bunch. Normally, I'd be all for going this route. But, I have zero confidence that Tomlin's philosophy will translate into an NFL caliber offense unless he's gifted a top 5 QB. Even then, the offense will underperform (see 2014-2018) relative to talent.Stosh-67 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 2:59 pmAnybody seeing Trevor Lawrence trade rumors?

The Steelers pulling off a reasonable trade to bring in Trevor Lawrence as QB is one of the few things they could do to make me interested for next year. I think TL has significant untapped potential and might excel under Smith. He's definitely a cut above every QB we've had since Ben retired.Stosh-67 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 2:59 pmAnybody seeing Trevor Lawrence trade rumors?

Doubt it will happen, though, especially since the team is focused on mobility at QB. More like outcome is we'll overpay Fields and end up with Kordell part 2, only not as good as the original.

Send Watt and a 3rd to Jax for Lawrence. Sure, why not.
I have zero confidence that Lawrence would excel on this team but who cares anymore. There are a few places that are worse than Pittsburgh right now and Jax is certainly one of them. Lawrence is likely tired of being there and tired of playing under Kahn.
Lawrence actually reminds me a bit of Tannehill in his prime. Draft a baller RB and get another WR threat opposite Pickens and the offense might be worth watching.

I was thinking Highsmith or Queen as a throw-in to help offset TL's cap hit. I still can't see them trading Watt. I agree that TL is reminiscent of Tannehill only better, which is why it might make sense to get him to play here under Smith.Orangesteel wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 4:01 pmSend Watt and a 3rd to Jax for Lawrence. Is he mentally strong enough to deal with the bullshit this team is mired in currently? I doubt it.

If they are going to do anything regarding trading their #1 or #2 picks its going to be this year. No way they mess with next year's #1 or 2 with them hosting the draft in Pittsburgh. NFL I don't think would like that lol the host team not having a pick the first two days.
So this is the year if they were to pull the trigger on something like this

Big 10 Network’s Ryan Burr reports the Steelers “made inquiries” to the Jaguars about trading for Trevor Lawrence.
We’ll see where this one goes, but it’s certainly out of left field. The Jaguars signed Lawrence to a five-year, $275 million contract extension last offseason, and in his introductory press conference, head coach Liam Coen suggested the offense “will be all about Trevor.” There don’t seem to be any signs pointing to the Jaguars’ interest in trading Lawrence, but it’s possible the Steelers were doing their due diligence in reaching out to teams they thought may be willing to make a deal. Lawrence has a no-trade clause baked into his extension, so any trade would need to be approved by the former No. 1 pick.

The new HC in Jax was chosen to work with Trevor Lawrence -- they arent trading him.
The Steelers would have to give at least two 1st round picks and more to get him IMO
Watt doesnt help the equation -- if Lawrence goes it means Jags are starting over and will want as many picks as they can get and there are other teams that can offer - and would offer -- much more than the Steelers can
And Obviously, TL coming to this team as currently constructed and coached doest make one bit of difference.
All they really want is someone to occassionally throw a sideline moonball, check down for 3 yds to the TE or a back and run to get a first down soemtimes so as to extend a drove and win TOP
I kind of hope it is Rodgers - as I think that would be a complete shit show - top to bottom disaster

Jags just announced that the discussion never took place, they would never trade Lawrence, and there is no truth to the rumor.

And he got a huge chunk of guaranteed money. Which not sure how it's all structured, but a big chunk undoubtedly stays with JAX. That means probably instead of just picks you'd have to include someone like TJ to make the guaranteed money eaten somewhat equal on both sides.

Of those, only Arch is really on track to be elite. LaNorrisSellers is very very good and could get there.
But the best NFL prospect isn't on this list: Taylen Green. He'll be next year's hot prospect. Like a bigger Lamar Jackson, but with developed passing skills at the cfb level.

Please, Please let it be Rogers. I will actually tune into Steelers games to watch Jibba meltdown when Rogers starts calling audibles.
Obliteration Is Imminent
Not sure what would be better, seeing Jibbs turn Lawrence into Kenny Pickett or watching the debacle that Aaron Rogers would be.
I think Rogers provides the higher ceiling in terms of drama and entertainment.
Plus, the powers that be will peddle it like it’s some sort of great feat. And that’ll be funny too.
Lawrence would be nice if Ben Johnson was running the offense.

I too want Rodgers since I believe it would be a shit show and I believe he wouldn’t be silent in the media after losses and or after the year that would be a shit show I can see him chirping about the stupidity of the offense etc. anyway hint to gain media attention of Fraudlin and Rooney’s stupidity is needed.
