Since when does Tomlin care about the postseason? 194 regular season wins get Tomlin to the promised land. ESPN will still say he's the winninest HC in Steelers history, because they don't GAF about the postseason wins, either. He needs 11 wins for that.alancac98 wrote: ↑Sat May 24, 2025 1:11 pmTomlin will only hang it up once he becomes Pittsburgh's most winningest coach!. He wants Noll's record and will not leave until he has it! By my count, that will be 3-5 years, all depends on NHALS. Tomlin has 191 wins and Noll has 209. So, 209-191=18. So, if Tomlin can squeak out a 9 win season and a 10 win season, he will have the record. But.... he is going to want to get to 220 is my guess, so that is 29 wins he needs to get there right now. That's at least 3-4 seasons! Strap in boys, Tomlin will leave when he is damn well ready and Rooney is happy about it!
But, let's look at some other scenarios Tomlin might be eyeing.
Could he will be eyeing Shula's record of 347? Tomlin is only 53 years old. Shula had a 33 year career, Tomlin only has 18 seasons in. Shula at 347 and Tomlin 191 - a difference of 156 wins. Say Tomlin continues to coach the Steelers for the next 20 years and retires at the age of 71. He has 20 years to accumulate the 156 wins, which means he would need to average 8 wins per season (NAHLS looking damn good right now doesn't it!)
Or, he could go after Tom Landry 250 wins as the most winningest NFL coach in history with 1 team (All others above Landry coached several teams).
That would put Tomlin needing 60 wins to eclipse him. That would take anywhere between 6-8 years with NHALS (7 years).
With how happy and excited Rooney is, Shula's record is in jeopardy! Thank goodness Rooney will at some point retire or die before Tomlin makes it another 20 years with this franchise. Hopefully, the next Rooney will want more than NAHLS and fire his ass in short order!
Will Tomlin be the Steelers coach for 2026?

Figured I'd just throw this in here, but didn't anyone see the Tomlin quote on his thoughts on the tush push bullshit?
“The first time I saw it, I couldn’t believe that it was legal because it was illegal on the field goal,” Tomlin said, via Mike DeFabo of TheAthletic.com. “That being said. You hate to be against it, because when people are innovative, you want to respect that. There’s certainly been some teams that have been more innovative than the rest of us. . . . We hate to penalize them for it. But we got into the discussion on the field goal block because of player safety and so that still remains to be a component of the discussion.”
This guy is on the Competition Committee and has been coaching for going on what, 19 fucking years? And his first thought was that can't be legal. Belichick used to study the god damn rulebook looking for any little edge he could give his team.
Mike Tomlin doesn't have time for that.

Tomlin PC 1/14/25 -“‘Stuck’ is a helpless feeling. I don’t feel helpless,” Tomlin said. “I don’t know if I want to sell you an overly optimistic (tone) either.

Mike Tomlin is the Stephen A. Smith of coaching.
Mike Tomlin and NHALS - The embodiment of the soft bigotry of lowered expectations.
Tomlin is coach for life. Like Cowher. Like Noll. The current Steelers organization under Art II care far more about optics - the three HC's since 1969, "grahnd and pahnd," and NHALS - than they do about winning in the postseason.

Here's the thing. They flirted with getting rid of Cowher during his lean years. He threatened to go coach Cleveland as leverage in contract negotiations and during his power struggle with Donahoe. Then after 2004, there was the almost forgotten shot across the bow from Art II of all people at Cowher that the time to win a ring was now. No more excuses.
Noll was outright forced out. He didn't want to retire, Dan Rooney forced him to do so. It was time to move on.
It's only Tomlin who has been given limitless job security even as the standards for the organization have clearly declined to almost nothing. NHALS is a really pathetic thing to hang your hat on.

Thib fired by Fickleknicks despite beating Celtics and taking a four seed to conf finals.
There has to be a sweet spot of optimal accountability balanced with realistic expectation somewhere between the Knicks and the Steelers.
If Tomlin ever got to the AFC conf finals and lost, he'd get a lifetime extension and lifetime blowjobs from the entire Rooney family.

The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently.

The NY Knicks I believe fired their coach today.
Go figure.
What an embarrassment we’ve become to the league, opposing coaches/ coordinators etc, not to the media though. We should be happy with NHALS!
I’m torn between rooting for losses and even playoff beatings. If it gets Fraudlin off this fucking team I guess I’m all for it. Just hate rooting for losses. I give so many less shits about this team it’s mind blowing.

look at this-
Someone in the media, actually calling out Tomlin for his failures and including Art in the line of fire.

"The last decade and a half they have exactly one more playoff win than the New York Jets, so this whole culture around the Pittsburgh Steelers, it's been methodically deteriorating before our eyes. Mike Tomlin has been putting lipstick on a pig in terms of making them seem more credible than they actually are. Mike Tomlin has been the ultimate deodorant for the Pittsburgh Steelers franchise."
Canty put the bulk of the blame on Tomlin, but he also said that owner Art Rooney II needs some, too.
"Let's be clear about another thing. Art Rooney II, Dan Rooney he is not. The proof is in the record. You aren't what we grew up on. You are no longer that. And the proof is waiting days before minicamp for a quarterback that may or may not wanna be part of your program."
