Going to be funny when Minka is making plays again.
This. Dolphins won't use him like they're scared of interceptions.
Safeties also tend to play longer and decline less in old age. Jalen Ramsey is nearly washed. So that's two ancient CB's to go along with a young guy who can't stop mugging WR's. Don't see CB as some great strength after this, but I'm sure Tomlin is chest bumping and fist pumping all throughout the facility today with this big "win."
I'd have kept Minkah and found a way to use him appropriately so making plays was actually possible.

All these moves will make it even more embarrassing and hilarious when the Steelers shit the bed, roll around in it, feverishly lick the sheets of the wettest, nastiest spots, rub it on their face, their tongue, and lips, take gobs of it with their pinky finger and smush it into both ears as deep as it can go, and then finally hop around bare ass on the bed trying to "suck up" the rest of it with their gaping asshole spread open while screaming "I WANT IT BACK INSIDE OF ME!" over and over again until they pass out.

I actually don't hate it....
Jonnu is a nice weapon.
I don't think they're done either. I think they'll still try to bring in a WR. Amari Cooper?
Bonus: Connor Heyward is a goner.
In a vacuum, it was a decent move. We'll have to see if the pieces obtained are actually deployed in a way that makes sense to utilize what they bring to the table.
I do like anp's idea that it might be MT and R2's last ride, though.
I think the only goal is to win a playoff game. After that the heat is off MT and R2 for another 8 years. I think Mink was misused here and would love to see him rebound with the Dolphins.

This is a great trade if Arthur Smith scheme can scheme a passing game for Smith. J. Smith gives the offense a guy that can separate. We need more of that. But, only if it is used. Smith is a big mismatch in the middle of the field and McDaniels exploited that. Let's see if Arthur Smith can.
I love Minkah, but don't lie to yourself and think he hadn't lost a step. Minkah may have been in centerfield a lot away from the play, but when he WAS in the play, he was beaten a lot last year. He was late to spots, missed tackles, and he didn't have his elite speed anymore. I don't mind trading a declining asset for a playmaker on O and a veteran CB who MAY still give you elite play in the secondary. Ramsey to me is the big enigma. He had some nice moments last year, but was also beaten quite a bit. Which Ramsey are we getting this year?
Overall, I think we won this trade. That said, I agree we need a WR and OT depth. The other big question is who is FS? Juan Thornhill is not a permanent solution and he's washed. I think we have to go after someone like Julian Blackmon...why hasn't he been signed? He's got potential and is still young.

Funny thing is that is why he wanted out of Miami when they traded him, because they had him playing the wrong safety position and he didn't like it.

trade Washington for a WR

Nothing they've done has changed my mind. Still routing for losses. Too many Tomlin led disappointments to rope me in again.
Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”

Sounds like McDaniel and Weaver want him back in the safety position he is most comfortable in. Could work out for all of them.

Well … Tomlin can’t build a team or develop players
He can’t win with game plan or tactics
So let’s go to plan C … hire a bunch of older guys with name recognition
These additions all smack of desperation.
I do believe now Tomlin has been told win playoff games or they will move on ….
He has been given the keys and the consequences are all,his
I do suspect they will fail ….his only chance is a first round playoff patsy who also wants to play keep-away ball
And that requires Rodger’s to make it through the season
Ramsey for Minkah is a wash … Jonnu Smith has had one good season out of 8
This is re-arranging the chairs on the titanic
We will know this year …. Do we get NHALS purgatory for another 5 years or a final end to this shit show
I do suspect it will be the latter … this smells like a disaster coming
There is Zero chance tj doesn’t get a new huge contract

Well this deal came from nowhere and I am not sold that our defense got better. We might have now have a 3rd CB but did we weaken the S spot ? Yes Fitz has had two bad years and there talk about the communication issue. They have to hope Thornhill can step into that Role or hope Castro is that diamond in the rough. I think they might be looking to add a FA Simmions is still out there. Adding Smith gives them 3TE but only Washington is a blocker imo. The team might be forced to use those TE in the passing game until they finally address that Hole at WR.

I will say, I thought 2023 was more of an injury/down year sort of issue for Minkah, but 2024 was somewhat concerning. Just looked like a different guy. Maybe all the damn tackles he had because of our shit ILBs have worn him down?
It’s hard for Minkah to make plays when he lines up 25 yards off the LOS.
If they weren’t going to use him correctly, trading him for two Pro Bowlers makes sense to me.

I think in base that we'll see Ramsey and Elliott along with JPJ and Slay on the outside. Otherwise, I think they'll use him inside and move him around. They'll try and be versatile with him and a best case scenario is he transitions to more of a safety over the next couple of years to lengthen his career.

Bottom line, Henry in December will go right up the gut and the safeties will be riding him to try and bring him down.

The Steelers are starting to remind me of the 2000s Redskins with the signings of past their prime stars. I bet they get about the same results. Ramsey - Fitzpatrick swap won't move the needle at all. I just hope Fitzpatrick has an All Pro break out season with the Dolphins to underscore how bad Steelers' coaching really is.

Ask yourself this...would an opposing offense rather have to face Minkah 25 yards off the ball and having lost a step? Or, would they have to face Ramsey who can be unpredictable and lined up in many spots lurking? I think they'd rather face Minkah and torch us.
Something HAD to change. No one can say Minkah hadn't lost a step (or 2). It was evident on film too. He was late to spots. He gave up 127 passer rating to opposing QBs when targeted in coverage. Is some of that coaching? Of course. But you can't pay a safety in the 22 million for that.
So, as much as I love and appreciate what Minkah did for us, I can see the move. I can especially see the move when you also added a move TE who had 88 catches last year.

Still looks to be about the same defense that will give up 35+ in the playoffs. On offense, all they've really done to improve is add Rodgers.
Might be enough for NHALS, but fully expecting another playoff humiliation if they get in. Probably a late season surge to 9-8, just miss the playoffs on a tie-breaker, and then get gas lit about "how we were right there, trending in the right direction, we just caught some bad breaks on the tie-breakers"

I like the move with Miami. Ramsey still has some ball left. Hoping for better front seven play with our new additions up front. If those draft picks step in and step up it will be huge for our D. Linebackers are set and should be even better than last year. Our backend is better.
Signing Elliot should have told us to pay a bit of attention.
Mount Washington is out swing tackle insurance. He’s not going anywhere.
Janu Smith will not catch close to 88 balls here but he’s still a good addition.

Ya me too. But we all know Jibba the former DB coach Jabber isn’t capable of developing a corner to save his life soooo he gets these washed-up has beens that he had a hard-on for years prior when they were coming out in the draft.
I hope Minkah is back to his playmaking self while Ramsey gets smoked worse than an overdone brisket.
Anything that makes this staff look like idiots is a good thing.
Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 81 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.

Probably a late season surge to 9-8
Or a late season collapse to 9-8. Kind of like last season when they went from 10-3 to 10-7 on their way to getting blown off the field in the playoffs by a team they know better than any other.

Yes, that's probably more likely, as the schedule is once again back loaded with the tough games coming in December.

Win win.
If they stuff them or at the the least stop them to 100 yds it’s a win and they added enough to that front 7.
If they get ran on to the tune of 299yds, Fraudlin gets embarrassed which will push him out the door.
Win win.

Nope. He will just blame the defensive breakdown on Austin and will fire him.
Dipshit Art II will buy that bullshit since his just so tickled pink to have Jibba Jabber as his HC.

MAYBE you can give Arthur Smith a pass at it was his first season here as OC.
But I don't know how anyone could defend Myer still being employed. The argument for Austin is that he's just a figurehead - Tomlin owns that defense and micro-manages it.
