Not sure of Washington's or our cap situation, but armchair GM says: trade Watt for Mclaurin (with an extension)

That positions whatever QB we have in the fold next year (hopefully a rookie) to have plenty of weapons.

DK
Mclaurin
Muth
J Smith

Not a bad group to roll out and the offense starts to look passable.

Only problem with McLaurin is he's 29 and will want a deal as big or bigger than DK got.

I do not see the Steelers tying up that much money in the WR position, even with a rookie QB next year leading the offense.

I hope I'm wrong but the Steelers seem to live in the stone age and prefer to pay defensive players.

Oh I agree- they never WOULD do such a thing. Plus take away from Tomlin's precious defense that gets steamrolled in the playoffs? Haha

But they SHOULD do such a move to balance the cap allocation a bit.

In no way should the Steelers do a player-for-player trade with Watt for a f'n 29-year-old WR who needs a new deal. Holy lord.

“You can’t take it personally, it’s that time of year,” Cowher said on The Dan Patrick Show. “There’s no real deadline at this point. He’s gone through this before. We saw him almost hold up right til the first game and still have a stellar year… This is, unfortunately, the part of it that you just have to be patient. And I think the one thing that Mike Tomlin and Omar [Khan] and Art [Rooney II] have done, they’ve exhibited great patience. They did that with Aaron Rodgers to see where he’s at right now. I think the same approach is gonna be taken with T.J. Watt.”

CHA-CHING$$$$$$$$$
ESPN sources: Steelers star TJ Watt has become the highest-paid non-QB in NFL history for the second time in his illustrious career, reaching agreement today on a three-year, $123 million extension that includes $108M fully guaranteed at signing. The $41 million per year average

Watt looks huge and Herbig looks D2 in comparison

Trading Watt doesn’t match the teams strategy to acquire a bunch of highly paid, over the hill defenders on a team that should be in full rebuild mode. They will just overpay him instead.
This. The team is going all in this year. There is no way they are moving Watt…0.0% chance. This is all contract negotiation fluff. Expect a new deal for Watt by training camp or maybe a day or two into it. I also expect a move for a vet WR. Parenthetically, I think they should’ve embraced a rebuild a while ago but they sure as hell don’t see it that way. NHALS is safely assured… 8-)
Expect the Vet WR next.

Watt was NEVER getting traded.

Boring …..

The more thngs change the more they stay the same
Status quo achieved … stasis
NHALS coming
And more bullshit to make the fans feel like …. this year will be different

I wish for just one game the Savannah Bananas would play it totally straight up. No music, no gyrating, no trick plays, just a straight up super competitive game against their opponent. And the crowd is just totally confused and don't know how to react all game.

But then in the bottom of the 9th with two outs one of the Savannah Bananas gets beaned right in their behind. And the Banana just sticks out his butt, puts a finger up to his lips with a giddy look and says "Ohhh, that tickled mister!!" And then he just drops his pants down to his ankles and reveals he's only wearing a cup. No underwear. Just a small cup barely containing his bootscoot and boogies. And with his pants still down at his ankles he just waddles his way down to first just letting it all flop around. All of the TV cameras do a super zoom in right at it too. And then all the other players on the field and in the dugouts immediately drop their pants down to their ankles too. And it's the same deal; they're all wearing cups with no underwear. And then another Banana gets on the mic and says they're not going to finish the game until everyone else in the stadium has their pants down around at their ankles too. And he says they'll stay there all night if they have too, but he wants to see whats going on down there. He then makes a circular motion with his hand over his groin area. He then says he also wants them to be tucking up their shirts all the way up under their chin, and sticking out their tongues while they do it too. At one point he acts like he's holding a pipe with a look reminiscent of Sherlock Holmes. Then in a weirdly British accent, he says "O' on den, let's seem 'em." And for the about the next hour it's about 50/50. Half the folks have just gotten pissed and gone home leaving the stadium, and the other half (let's be honest, mostly dudes here) is just standing in their seats with their pants around their ankles and letting all their glory dance in the fading sunlight. And you'll swear you see some of those fans tearing up too.
