Probably gets sloshy drunk way too easily and annoys his friends who constantly have to babysit him.
If he's good, I'll root for him, but I'll never love him.

We will never be that fortunate. Mostly because Jibba Jabber (and this franchise) will not create an environment for that type of growth.StillerDownSouth wrote: ↑Sat Aug 02, 2025 2:06 pmSo basically same body type as Brady when he was a rookie 6th rounder, wouldn't it be something if he became Brady 2.0tbsteel wrote: ↑Sat Aug 02, 2025 1:12 amHe kind of looks like a chubby nerd that kind of got stretched out to be a QB.Charles Demarr wrote: ↑Fri Aug 01, 2025 12:04 amOne thing I do know, he’s a real easy kid to root for.

They need finished products. Players no longer get developed here.
It’s why they’ve been such big players in free agency lately. Especially at DB.
Our former DB coach now HC couldn’t develop a DB to save his life.
Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 84 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.

The Brady situation is like a once in a lifetime deal. That shit ain’t happening again the rest of our lives.
Howard looks like a pussy. I bet his balls are tiny and scrunched up all tight.

If he ends up as the #2, a win regardless.
He has the brains just not elite arm talent, that's just the reality of it. He will make a good back up for the Steelers for years to come. He is no franchise QB. Not remotely close to Ben talent wise.
Yup- he's a Rudolph clone. Which in the grand scheme of things ain't bad for 6th round

Will Howard doesn't need to be the next Brady.
A strong backup role could prove invaluable going forward.
Culture counts, y’all.
Jack Sawyer and Will Howard were the epitome of leadership, LEADING the Buckeyes on an impressive National Title run after another epic fail against their arch nemesis, scUM.
Depot is quoting somebody (probably an irrelevant source but still) saying he has been impressed by Sawyer going so far as to proclaim him a future starter. Hold up on that car wash indeed, BUT both Sawyer and Howard contributing as more than just role players is an added bonus due to the unrivaled CULTURE they’re going to help create for the next Steelers’ Head Coach and next Steelers’ President.
I was very pleased with the Steelers 2025 draft, not so much for the players they picked but for the programs they came from.
Take the Iowa kids. Caleb Johnson, Yahya Black, and even Seabass Castro. Hardly athletic marvels or household names but all 3 are impressing in camp. Hell no Kirk Ferentz’s Hawkeyes aren’t title contenders, BUT they’re always competitive AND feisty. What they may lack in talent and even X’s and O’s they make up for with a well established CULTURE and tradition of hard work and dedication.
Derrick Harmon should be lauded since he’s the Steelers’ 1st round pick. BUT, he comes with an inspirational story. You think this kid’s going to not bust his ass for one second after losing his mom on the night his draft dream came true? Kid played his ass off for Dan Lanning who learned the value of hard work and CULTURE from Kirby Smart.
Yep, your rookie class is going to set a strong foundation for the post-Tomlin era (please be soon, PLEASE be oh soooo soon).
Nick Markakis on Astros: "Every guy over there needs a beating."
Both will be collecting their NFL pensions before the Steelers have a new HC.both Sawyer and Howard contributing as more than just role players is an added bonus due to the unrivaled CULTURE they’re going to help create for the next Steelers’ Head Coach and next Steelers’ President.
I kid. Hopefully.

Out for the rest of camp and preseason. Broken bone in hand.
Somewhat related, but it just me, or do the Steelers always have more than their share of injuries in camp every year?

Every day it seems another significant contributor goes down
Most have been soft tissue injuries- but Lowery is an ACL and obviously Howard’s fracture
I told you all this dude was soft. Broke his wittle fat finger taking a snap under center from a real man.

I thought I read broken finger and 3 weeks? Either way, missing the rest of preseason is devastating for a rookie QB.AirRescueFF wrote: ↑Wed Aug 06, 2025 2:32 amOut for the rest of camp and preseason. Broken bone in hand.

Have to hope Howard's QB IQ is as good as people are saying and maybe he can overcome that. But there's no way around missing the actual physical reps for timing and getting the speed of the game.

This is the time to find out if Will Howard is good enough to give him a legit shot to win the job next year or if you're going to have to go all-in on Round 1 QB. This injury effectively derails that possibility entirely..Kodiak wrote: ↑Wed Aug 06, 2025 4:26 pmI thought I read broken finger and 3 weeks? The lemon and vinegar into the open wound is that seeing Will Howard in the preseason was pretty the only reason to watch the preseason games.
glass half full: it's just enough missed time to keep Tomlin/Smith from destroying whatever potential he has before [hopefully] a new regime next yearbradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Wed Aug 06, 2025 4:43 pmThe lemon and vinegar into the open wound is that seeing Will Howard in the preseason was pretty the only reason to watch the preseason games.

The only reason I was excited to watch pre-season was Will Howard.
and, as you stated- baring Rodgers being injured during the season- and - either Rudolph sucking ass or he is injured too, there is almost zero chance we see Howard play this season
which takes us to using a bunch of draft capital to get a QB in next year's draft.
Bet on that?.Kodiak wrote: ↑Wed Aug 06, 2025 4:51 pmglass half full: it's just enough missed time to keep Tomlin/Smith from destroying whatever potential he has before [hopefully] a new regime next yearbradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Wed Aug 06, 2025 4:43 pmThe lemon and vinegar into the open wound is that seeing Will Howard in the preseason was pretty the only reason to watch the preseason games.

It definitely is a major blow that Howard got hurt, but I think the odds of Will playing in meaningful games this year even if he was impressive in the preseason were slim to none. Especially behind Rodgers who is entrenched and Mason who Cool Shades brought back solely because he saved Mikey T.'s precious NHALS 2 years ago. It would have taken some very strange unforseen circumstances for Howard to have gotten a shot in 2025.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Wed Aug 06, 2025 4:43 pmThis is the time to find out if Will Howard is good enough to give him a legit shot to win the job next year or if you're going to have to go all-in on Round 1 QB. On the other hand it could make next preseason a whole lot of fun, because the QB room will probably be First Round Draft Choice QB, Mason Rudolph and Will Howard.
Will will have an honest shot to start next year in a competition with Mason while the First Round Draft Choice QB learns the ropes. If Howard is very impressive then the Steelers could have a nice problem on their hands.

Unless they hire Ryan Day to be their next head coach, he'll get buried behind the next big thing..Kodiak wrote: ↑Wed Aug 06, 2025 4:51 pmglass half full: it's just enough missed time to keep Tomlin/Smith from destroying whatever potential he has before [hopefully] a new regime next yearbradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Wed Aug 06, 2025 4:43 pmThe lemon and vinegar into the open wound is that seeing Will Howard in the preseason was pretty the only reason to watch the preseason games.
Not really. Rogers might not get through the first 4 games while the clumsy oaf Broderick Jones figures out his left hand from his right hand.It would have taken some very strange unforseen circumstances for Howard to have gotten a shot in 2025.
From there it just takes Rudolph getting dinged and there you go.

That being Drew Allar!!! No need to learn a fancy new complex offense when you could move from Franklin's version of Martyball to A. smiths version of Martyball.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Wed Aug 06, 2025 5:38 pmUnless they hire Ryan Day to be their next head coach, he'll get buried behind the next big thing..Kodiak wrote: ↑Wed Aug 06, 2025 4:51 pmglass half full: it's just enough missed time to keep Tomlin/Smith from destroying whatever potential he has before [hopefully] a new regime next yearbradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Wed Aug 06, 2025 4:43 pmThe lemon and vinegar into the open wound is that seeing Will Howard in the preseason was pretty the only reason to watch the preseason games.
Did I mention that he looks like a QB?
