Wonder when 73 leaves will they move Mason back to normal LG spot ?
They will draft a QB but I have little confidence in the choice at this point. I joke that they have penciled in Allar to their card already but it is one of the worst nightmares especially if they trade draft capital to get him.
the NEED NEED NEED a real NT but they will not take one as long as Tomlin is the HC. It gets tiring watching Benton get moved into the ILB's lap on any double team. The last draft you could have thrown a dart at the draft board and got a decent one. Trade one of those 7th round picks and get Zeke Biggers from the Dolphins after this week. They should be on a full fire sale mode after the Bills dismantal them.

Tomlin is Pig Headed and will not ever go back to a True NT . This is his flaw he believes he knows it all and Part why he still thinks Benton a NT .

I believe They don’t view McCormick as a LG.steelmann58 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 16, 2025 4:11 amWonder when 73 leaves will they move Mason back to normal LG spot ?
Seumalo IMO, played better as a RG in his career.
Now he’s a liability and contributes to the shitshow we know as the left side of the OLine.
They have Spencer Anderson penciled in at LG on the depth chart.
We can guess Anderson will play when Seumalo gets injured or sent packing.
LG should be very high draft priority come April.
he just needs to execute better against double teams.steelmann58 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 16, 2025 11:24 pmTomlin is Pig Headed and will not ever go back to a True NT . This is his flaw he believes he knows it all and Part why he still thinks Benton a NT .

Draft priority By position in my opinion:
LT - Beginning to look like a swing and a HUGE MISS here.
LG- There isn’t one on the roster I believe can be consistently successful.
WR- Not sure what happened here. Used to be great at drafting and developing WR’s.
QB - Should draft a QB in every draft regardless of Need.
NT - We Need A true Nose should they continue to run defense the way they do.
CB/SAF - Secondary has been an issue almost as long as Dline/Oline deficiencies.
D-END/OLB - Can never have enough plug-n-play rushers be developed.
ILB - Special Teams/Linebacker drafted and be developed.
TE - Should be drafted in every draft and be developed.
RB - See Above.

Drafting won’t help this team
However
The Steelers 3-4 doesn’t work without a great NT. It’s very rare there aren’t some very solid NTs in the 2-3rd
Winning is so much easier with a QB that can attack defenses multiple ways. 1st round is better. Occasionally some solid potential slips to the 2nd
I believe very much in contrarian concepts in the copy cat NFL. I’d grab some high upside RBs and TEs on late round picks that are fairly easy to stockpile
There are ALWAYS SPARQ types falling off trees late at OLB. Assuming I’d nailed QB NT and had plenty of freak outlier TEs and RB to go after late I’d grab some OLBs late as well
Lastly although not lastly draft wise the mid rounds I’d look for smart athletic lineman on both sides. It’s fairly easy to add muscle and mass. Brains speed and good movement skills are hard to develop if they aren’t already present
I’d realize a genuine rebuild takes at 2-3 years and not try to split the difference with every draft pick
Rome wasn’t built in a day
1+3 QB
2 NT
4 5 Linemen
Stockpile 6s and 7s by unloading some addition by subtractions and load up on freak outliers at OLB TE and RB
If I was the new HNIC at Steelers HQ
That ^^^^ would be my initial thoughts before consulting my draft team

Jibbs wants to run a 3-4 but doesn’t believe in using a pure 3-4 hog of a NT to anchor that base D.
Further proof Jibbs is one dumb mother fucker.
Without a good NT, all the other positions get exposed in a 3-4.
He is dumb squared.
We are blessed to have him according to the Dunce.

Biggest question is who is going to QB the Steelers next year? According to many here, the 2026 QB class was going to be loaded, well right now all I see after a few weeks of college football is all of these guys who are supposed to be the next great thing all appear to be bums...Arch, Sellers, Klubnik, Nussmeier, Allar, etc all appear to be ass. Maybe the class of 2027 will be better, but this is something we hear every year...I'm praying somehow Will Howard turns out to be a stud, but who knows.
In all seriousness:
QB is obviously #1 with a bullet far and away the biggest need.
They need to be drafting a QB every year, possibly multiple QBs every year, until they find the right young franchise signal caller.
Otherwise, the rest of what they're doing in many ways is mostly meaningless.
In looking at their roster, I don't feel good about any position group outside of special teams. Honestly. I think you can make strong arguments that the second biggest need on this team after QB could literally be from 9 different position groups.
They need to be hoarding drafting picks, preferably 10-12 picks each draft cycle, and using a top 100 pick on a QB + a late round stab at another QB who has outlier-ish traits, every draft season.
If I were the owner, I'd go with B2B and STD as my co-GMs, with SteelPerch as the realist splitting decider on tossups. I'd give B2B and STD a good 8+ day three picks every year to throw darts and go for some underrated dudes and athletic lumps of clay.
The podcast crew, Drama, CharlesDemarr, ironzabo, and a few others I'm blanking on would be my assistant front office staff and lead scouts. I would get piss drunk and irrationally make fun of GA and Bama players just to piss Drama off though.
Do I think that would get better results than the current front office? I 100% honestly do.

What's funny is all the armchair GM's and event the bozos in the media talking about what a strong draft class 2026 would be for QB's. They say this shit almost every year. Next year will be better. Then the games start getting played and all the pre-season rankings of players go out the window. Suddenly 2026 looks like a crap year for QB's.
Reality is it doesn't matter how many QB's the media puts first round grades on, anyway. Most will bust hard. You have to scout all of them an identify one. That's the goal. And then you move mountains to go and get that guy you have faith in.
That's what the Chiefs did with Mahomes to get themselves out of purgatory. The Steelers have passed on top QB prospects over the years that they could have taken just like the Steelers did under Cowher pre-Roethlisberger.
I would have taken Dart last year and if he pans out, all the talk about it being a "weak" class means nothing. The Steelers were shaken by the fact that they reached on Pickett and didn't want to be mocked for fucking up again.
I think Harmon is going to be mediocre despite the camp hype. So it wouldn't have been some great loss. Even if he has talent, odds are these defensive gurus won't coach him up regardless.

The legend inadvertently stumbled across something here. Steelers spend roughly 60% of the time in nickel. That typically means they have two 290 pound DEs in the middle of the D and two 240 pound OLBs as their 4 down linemen. Teams have little issue running all over that front.. If they go base 3-4 with a traditional NT they feel limited in their pass rush ability, and the NT will be on the bench 60% of the snaps. Using a 3 tech like Benton at NT isn’t working vs the run.SteelerDayTrader wrote: ↑Thu Sep 18, 2025 11:29 pmDrafting won’t help this team

The league has changed and the Steelers should go after more of a standard 4-3 front in both scheme and personnel in the draft. Get some 270 pound edges (like Myles Garrett, Aiden Hutchison, Joey Bosa) instead of the 240 pound linebackers we have now. Find some 310+ pound athletic DTs (like Chris Jones or Jalen Carter) who can play the run and rush the passer. Harmon and Black could be a good start there. Basically they need to look at different types of players for the defensive front since the league forces you into nickel most of the time. You need four down linemen who can all play the run and pass equally well if you want the ability to stop the run or pass on any down. That’s what modern offenses force you to do, and what the Steelers have failed to adapt to. The old 3-4 won’t work, and the pussified Tomlin version sure as hell doesn’t work either.
As I have repeatedly said, they would have gotten a decent Nt in the last draft by throwing a dart at the board. They did not want one.SteelerDayTrader wrote: ↑Thu Sep 18, 2025 11:29 pmDrafting won’t help this team

They will trade up for a QB in the draft ( because it is in Pittsburgh) but I have no confidence in Tomlin and crew to either pick a good one ( Allar) or train one up.

I suspect they see Black as the NT of the future. Whether or not he’s miscast is to be determined.
QB in round 1.
They will likely have to move up to get one and Sellers will be long gone.
They could sit there in the 16-20 range, where we all know they'll be picking, and take a guy no one is even talking about right now, but I think this will be such an important pick for the Steelers, they move up.
Probably going to take an extra first round pick and maybe another second.
After that we're gonna need an OLB (Watt may finally be hitting the downside of his career, Highsmith is a fucking china doll and Herbig is better used as a situational/rotational pass rusher), WR and more D-line help.
But the draft is in Pittsburgh.
They're taking a QB in the first round.
Let's hope he ends up being elite.
The scary part is I think several teams will be looking to take a QB in round 1, even some unexpected teams.

I am going to watch Mendoza tonight. He has a lot of potential as a pocket passer.
