That was NHALS in action. The Steelers deliberately let the Browns burn clock on dinks and dunks to get a field goal. Tomlin is in full on turtle mode with a 9 point first half league and would rather the Browns burn clock then the Steelers offense have to do it.

They probably were going to get 3 regardless. Unless the defense got a turnover.

Take the time outs if you need to. No need to save them.

You don't take a time out to stop the clock for the defense with 45 seconds left. If there's a time to take a time out with you into the locker room it's when you're on defense.

It was 3rd and 8 from the 32, they were already in FG range, Tomlin was actually trying to preserve clock for the offense for a change, I have no problem with calling TO there, most coaches would do the same.
