How to Stop Flacco w/ Chase & Higgins
How to Stop Flacco w/ Chase & Higgins
So- that was rough.
Many of us identified the potential issue going in- but personally, I let my inner fanboy delude my expectations.
I forgot that very many of this team's wins over Flacco, came about due to 1 of 2 issues, and sometimes both.
Those issues being: Coaching mistakes by the Raven's HC/OC or Extraordinary effort by extraordinary players.
You can't count on a Harbaugh level goof when he's not on the sideline and you definitely can't count on extraordinary plays, when there are no extraordinary players.
All that being said- I was pondering - how do they fix this, so we don't see the same shit 4 weeks from now.
I'm not sure they have the players to do it- but-
I'd move Ramsey to FS for the game. Let him be deep patrol with Elliot.
You need interior pressure - because Flacco gets the ball out too quick for outside pressure to be effective. Get in his face and make him move.
So they'll need some creative packages to get inside pressure. I *think I'd try Wilson, Elliot, maybe Ramsey- shit anything that wasn't immediately expected.
Anyway- they'll have to do something different - not just for the next game against Cincy- but seriously- they need to come up with schematic changes if they have any hope of winning a playoff game, because they lost last night for the same reason they get smoked each of the first round playoff losses. The opponent knows exactly what to expect, exactly how to beat it, and Tomlin doesn't change or adjust.

All the money and draft picks they allocated to this defense and they don’t look any better than the Hendricks-less bungal defense.
Just mortifying to watch that abortion. Plenty of fingers being pointed but there’s only one finger being pointed that matters.
As long as fraudlin remains this franchise will exist in mediocrity purgatory doing just embarrassingly good enough to fail spectacularly.
Just good enough to miss out on drafting potential blue-chip talents and then continuing to develop that talent.
As a Steelers fanboy of course It’s disappointing but as a long time fan watching fraudlin continue his cancerous damage to this franchise I am not at all surprised by the results of last nights train wreck. /rant

Here's what they are going to do instead.
Exactly what they did last year.
They are going to attempt to possess the ball by run run run running.
Just like last year, it won't work this time because Cincy will be expecting it and gang up on the run to stop it.

“Yeah we suck, be there is a chance we could suck slightly more if we try to correct the problem.” - Art Deuce (summarized by SteelPerch)
Well the ironic thing is that they WERE running it effectively with Warren. He was killing them
I hope they don’t. I hope we get rolled by Cincy again and drop our games against the Ravens. All that being said- I was pondering - how do they fix this, so we don't see the same shit 4 weeks from now.
I want Jibbs to go from having a firm grip on the division title to finishing behind both the Bungs and the 1-5 Rats.
If that doesn’t happen I’ll take our D getting rolled for 50+ in the wildcard game.
Anything that puts egg on that smug fuckers face is good for me.
Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 81 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.
Joe said after the game that he didn't understand the plays being called in. He just winged it.
“We’ve got to write that story. We’ve got enough talent, we’ve got enough schematics to do big, big things. When I say big things, I’m talking about historic things.”

Fun quote by Chase after the game:
When a Cincinnati reporter asked Chase if he was surprised by how the Steelers tried to defend him -- man-on-man, mostly -- given how often they've faced him over the years, Chase replied, "I got a lot of man. They doubled on third down, tried to mix it up a little. But no, they did exactly what we were expecting and hoping they'd do."

We do what we do gets you things like fucking Flacco smiling and laughing his ass off after a game. Teflon Tomlin always gets a pass for everything.Louis Lipps Service wrote: ↑Fri Oct 17, 2025 10:24 pmFun quote by Chase after the game:
