At this point time to really see what he could or can’t do before having to trade up for a QB

We already know what Rodgers brings and an injured Rodgers isn’t working… Mason is who he is. So yeah, give him the next start.

Once again, this will never happen as long as the NHALS is on the table.
Never.
Never.

He can throw passes into the ground just as good as Mase Malone, Mason PI.

No Howard. We are BALLZ-2-THE-NHALS!!!!!!!
To improve, to take the next step, you have to take risk. Or, you can settle for mediocrity. And for that, there is no one better than Mediocre Mike!!!!

This is a really shitty schematic offence Smith is trying to run. I like Howard and think he is just as good if not better than most of the top college QBs in this class. But, I doubt he would look any good or better than Rogers and Mason in this slop infested offence! But who knows, once NHALS is officially out of the question, you might. But that order would have to come from above Tomlin as I don't think he has the vision to see what the kid could do!
Yeah, as much as I want to see Howard, it's for the best that he doesn't get thrown into this offense.alancac98 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 01, 2025 2:52 amThis is a really shitty schematic offence Smith is trying to run. I want to see Will Howard fail in this offense next just so I don't have to hear about his potential greatness again. I'm starting to dislike him because there's this fantasy that he's some super elite prospect they stole in the 6th round. Dude was a project who seems to be a good guy and hard worker. Some projects you think will take a while to mold end up being better right out of the gate than you expect, but I really doubt he's been getting the coaching and guidance (despite the presence of Rodgers) that would lead to that even if he was capable. You'd be setting him up to fail with these skill guys and this neanderthal approach to offense. Just my hunch. At best maybe he could manage a game if the defense didn't suck so bad like Fields did for a few games last year.
Will Howard isn't playing this year unless Rodgers and Rudolph both go down for reasons mentioned above by others, anyway. And that's for the best.
Even if Howard played well enough, you sure as shit do not pass on a QB prospect you believe in because of it. There's just not much there there to this. It's a fascination among fans who are desperate for any glimmer of hope.
This is Mike Tomlin's Steelers. There is no hope.

Who is this year project you want them to draft
Tomlin will not out and out sit Rogers unless he's badly hurt. You don't wait all offseason to sign a Hall of famer and then bench him for a 6th round rookie. I would also argue when healthy the guy plays the kind of low turnover de-risked offense Tomlin and Smith want to see, and definitely increases our RZ efficiency. At this point I prefer healthy Rogers, even neutered by the Smith offense, to any other option on our roster.
Now...the sneaky way to make this happen might be to move Howard up to #2 on the depth chart and let Rogers make a business decision for a few games to let his hand heal a bit more. Then you only piss off Rudolph, who quite frankly, I'm not too worried about pissing off. At this point I'd prefer Howard or finding Skylar Thompson on a practice squad to Mason.

What if Mase gets to play against the Browns, and Garrett sacks him for the record.
Historic!
