Lowest air yards per play since...
Lowest air yards per play since...
...the 2006 Texans. 5.7 yards.
Does everyone remember the media ripping Roethlisberger for throwing it quick behind a much worse OL in his final two seasons? Yea, he was still stretching the field more than the great Aaron Rodgers in this offense. Roethlisberger was throwing it on average 7.3 yards down the field.
I'm really curious as to what the record is without a pass completed that was thrown 20 yards or more, particularly in the modern NFL where you should get a play like that by dumb luck. Defenses drop so many coverages these days that it should be a slam dunk to get a play or two like that every week.
Where's everyone trashing Rodgers on how he should have slunk off and retired and telling us how washed he is? Yea, there's murmurings, but that's about it. People still praise his arm strength while nitwits who didn't even watch him told us how Ben's arm was shot (it was his knees and mobility - argue that till the day I die).
I remember Joe Greene remarking during the game against the Vikings that Roethlisberger could still play, that he could still put the ball where he wanted it when they got out of his way and let him. Roethlisberger wasn't good those final seasons (at least until the 4th quarter where he was statistically a top 5 QB - that was all supposedly against prevent defenses). Not arguing he was.
But yea the media fucking hated Roethlisberger and was in full defend Tomlin mode.Roethlisberger was a selfish prick holding back Mediocre Mike and the Steelers.

I'll say it until the day I die: Ben and Malkin are the most disrespected Pitt sports legends of my generation
Exhibit A of people refusing to admit that Rodgers is washed:
Whew I’m bout to crash out.
This how I know the national media don’t watch football and check a box score. The Steelers traded away a top 3 receiver in the league. Deploy a starting offense with a 6’7 315lb TE (who is legit btw) & a 6’5 330 lb OL as your two tight end options. You run a defense from the Dick LeBeau era. How about roster construction? How about giving your 40 year old HOF qb a chance? Blaming Aaron when his best passing option right now is a check down to the RB is fucking disgusting from everyone on this video. Watch the games.

The offense has crap personnel, but they had arguably worse personnel in the end for Roethlisberger. His best WR was Diontae Johnson who despite being only 29 washed out of the league. The next option was Friermuth who is probably a better player today than he was as a rookie with Ben, and he's the third string TE now. And then Chase Claypool who should be in the prime of his career but is also out of the league.
The OL was trash. Far worse than what is put in front of Rodgers right now, though it still aint great.
No one made any excuses for Roethlisberger. And I'm tired of the excuses for Rodgers. He's missing the few big plays that are there to be had. I think he's the guy who checked into that 3-9 run that failed given his reaction to the media. He doesn't even produce the 4th quarter magic that Ben was still capable of.
DK Metcalf based on the entirety of his career still shits on Johnson and Claypool as a player. He can't get him the ball.
People who break this stuff down for a living are noting that Roman Wilson is wide open quite frequently, but the few targets he does get are way off target.
But he has the guys over to watch film on his birthday. So there's that.
To be fair to Aaron Rodgers, Ben wasn't running an offense that liked to run 3 TE's out there, even when it's third and long.
I've literally never seen an offense like this in my life.
I understand that Roman Wilson and CAIII aren't Hines Ward and Antonio Brown, but they have major speed and can get open.
To run Jonnu Smith out there is mind numbing....on any down.

I'm kind of tired of people acting like Jonnu Smith was some star last year. He was on an awful Dolphins team missing it's best WR. That was his career year. He had never even cracked 600 yards prior to that season and he probably never will again.

Jonnu is Art Smith's guy and has followed him around the league. That trade hasn't worked out and has resulted in Freiermuth's role shrinking dramatically. I think Muth is overrated, but even I think Muth is better than Jonnu. The trade was a net negative.

Fair or not, Ben will never get any credit or benefit of the doubt from most people because of the allegations against him. The NFL Network guys were just trashing him for saying it might be time for Tomlin to leave. I won't be shocked if they make Ben wait awhile until he gets into the HoF.CKSteeler wrote: ↑Wed Dec 03, 2025 7:37 pmExhibit A of people refusing to admit that Rodgers is washed:

Rodgers was a league golden boy until COVID and still gets the benefit of the doubt.

Downfield throw - a pass that, in the air, goes past the LOS (also see Glossary of Terms)
LOS - line of scrimmage, a place around 9 feet behind our typical down and distance of 3rd and 7

No doubt they will make him wait, I've already mentally prepared for it, it's criminal what the media did to Ben, not that he was a saint by any means, but there aren't many saints playing in the NFL.

Lowest air yards per play…..Since Knute invented the forward pass!
Steelers haven't completed a pass over 20 air yards in 36 days.
0 for 13, 3 picks
Pathetic.

My favorite part of this year’s meltdown has been the statistics that have been making the rounds through social media.
Streaks and numbers that are so improbable that you almost have to TRY to achieve them, much less have them occur when you’re supposedly trying to be successful.

A walk down memory lane, with a look at Joe Walton's offense, and who got fired for what 12 years ago.
Is it completely insane that Coach T is still with the Steelers after all the shit between then and now?
Yes! Jesus H. tap-dancin' Christ yes it is!

"We, as an offensive collective were off today, and certainly, he's a component of that,"
I said it when they got him ‘
He had a career year due to lucky opportunity and not some great skill
I also said and knew with 3 TEs this shit was going to happen

It's it an amazing coincidence that the Steelers' alleged ability to always draft good to great WRs that ESPN and the rest of the national media was always talking about a few years ago magically disappeared once Ben retired? I wonder if there's a connection? It couldn't be that Ben was making guys (other than AB) look better than what they were, could it?
It was Ben and WR coach Richard Mann (2013-2017). The only good coach, along with Munchak, Tomlin has ever hired (and Flores, but that was a 1-yr favor).W&M_Steeler wrote: ↑Thu Dec 04, 2025 2:29 pmIt's it an amazing coincidence that the Steelers' alleged ability to always draft good to great WRs that ESPN and the rest of the national media was always talking about a few years ago magically disappeared once Ben retired?
