Your team won by cheating. Congrats.
Dif between cheating & getting calls. At any rate, I'll take it!!
Yeah I have never understood how getting calls equates to cheating. Maybe the accuser is also a conspiracy nut as well?

I mean, Steelers didn't cheat today. The league cheated. There's a difference I guess.

I've said it once and I'll say it a million times more but you can see the same fucking thing called completely differently within hours or sometimes even minutes on any given Sunday. The butchery of the rule book is clearly by design. They aren't *this* incompetent.

I don't actually CK… Please tell us how it's going to end
Best case scenario from your perspective is getting their shit pushed in during the Wild Card as they've done for the last decade or so.

If they even get there this year.
Nooo....best case is win the Norf, win a home playoff game and go on the road weekend of January 17-18
I think winning another game under MT will never happen again. I have zero faith in Tomlin & Co to put together a well thought out gameplan against a real playoff caliber team. I’m not pulling for wins but I’m not hoping for losses either. I’m in indifference land. That’s what ArtII and MT have done to my fandom. So if you want them to continue to put the same shit on tape week in and week out praying for one more week of football so be it.

Maybe Tomlin is set up for the lifetime Achievement Lombardi? They are just clearing obstacles for the post season.

Well, they did it for Peyton Manning when he was with the Broncos.

Nothing would surprise me.

Fuck You Haters
Puffing out your chest for a regular season win in yet another season going nowhere bout as bad as Jibba blowing kisses to the camera today.

We all know come playoff time (should we make it) those kisses and all that bravado is going to get replaced by his famous bug eyed blank stare as we get blown off the field. Again.

Going to be funny when Lucy pulls that ball again.

Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 88 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.

You’d rather be satisfied with 9 wins a year in perpetuity and pound your chest over a few meaningless regular season wins a year than actually see change and the team do something to be a competitive threat to contend for a title.

Honest question, do you even watch the games? I don’t know how anyone can watch this team play football over the last decade, especially over the last 4 years and think they are anywhere near a good football team or anywhere near the level of the real contenders. If they win the division they will host either Buffalo or the Chargers. Did you watch those games? It’s like they play a different sport.

I think you hit on something Perch. Mr vhs recorder, always seemed to watch the game (later) and can fast forward over the agony.

My take…

I believe all Steelers fans want wins.

Even when the odds are stacked against them to lose we all want wins.

The way this team currently operates and all the drama with fraudlin the wins seem less exciting.

I’ll always take a win whether it is ‘earned’ or was due to ‘scripted’ lucky breaks.

Personally I don’t feel much optimism because of wins lately. This win today for me? Meh….

Even if they win out can we really be that optimistic/excited? With the results being what they’ve been last 8 post season appearances?

To me that’s not entertaining. Not exciting. It’s more of an experiment in futility. Especially if they’re destroyed in a one and done scenario.

Get the ole, ‘hey bro what happened to the Steelers’? & ‘Well, at least you made it to the playoffs’! Yeah cause that’s the desired result./sarc/

Never been a proponent for losing for better draft selections. Nothing is guaranteed drafting a player in the 1st RND vs the 6th RND.

These hater vs ball washer threads are just frustrations being vented for discussion. We’re all still Steeler fans in the End.

Professional sports are scripted events [Legalized gambling] that have been watered down and manipulated into entertainment cash cows.

The Rodger Goodell hiring, the rules being heavily biased/modified under the guise of ‘player safety’ is no coincidence.

I’m not the rabid psychopath fanatic I was even 10 years ago. Those days are over. My wife’s very happy bout it so, there’s that.

The NFL has evolved. Fandom [especially] for us Gen X and Boomers have not quite come round yet.

Growing up playing football before school, during school and after school used to be the highlight of our days.

Watching it back when it was more about a sporting competition and less about how much money can be made is just nostalgia now.

So you actually watch NFL football and think the Steelers play anything in the same stratosphere as the Bills, Lions, Rams, Eagles, Seahawks, Chargers, Chiefs, Packers etc…. No serious person can say that.

Not at all. Getting blown off the field (again) in yet another playoff game we are not prepared for is the next best thing to missing the playoffs.

Can’t have it all.

I’m not scared of it. I welcome it. Well, after missing the playoffs entirely.

I tired of this guy. Can’t support him or the (countless) dumb shit he does and has this team doing.

The worse he looks, the happier I am about the outcome.

We are going to need to get worse before we can get better.

Sooner we rip that bandaid off the better.

And before you yammer on bout he will never be fired, want to leave whatever I think you can agree that a bunch of bad shit speeds up that process vs playoff appearances right?

We ultimately want the same thing. I just know it isn’t happening while he’s here. The worse we look and get embarrassed (and it’s been plenty of late) the more his departure will be a thing by that can’t be ignored.

We can kind of split the baby here, I guess.

Steelers finish 8-9, win the division so the Rat fucks from Baltimore go home and fire Harbaugh, and THEN get their shit pushed in during the Wild Card. As is tradition over the last decade or so.

NHALS ends, playoff futility continues and Tomlin ties Marvin Lewis for ineptitude there, Steelers fans are even more crazy fucking furious than ever and Swiss gets his extra game in January.

It's win-win!

Today was the biggest game of the year so far, and we won. I’m glad. Our team hasn't had a losing season since 2003, and I’m glad. Swiss speaks his mind around here, and I’m glad. If you want your favorite team to lose, why do you even watch the games? Why not just wait till the end of the season and see who the head coach is, and who they draft?

I haven’t watched a game in over two years, except for the playoff debacle last year.

I watched that only to laugh my ass off with some friends who know how much I hate Tomlin and what he’s done to my favorite team.

Fuck the Tomlin Steelers.

Swiss is a guy who has gone to his favorite restaurant for 60 years. The last 10 years or so, the chef puts shit in his food. Not all the time (a little less than half the meals) but he gets shit on his teeth and he tastes it enough to know what’s going on. And he always gets shit in his food on a special occasion. He can count on that. Instead of complaining to the owner, or maybe trying another restaurant and realizing this isn’t normal, he keeps going back and telling himself that the food he keeps eating will get better one day. Complaining is pointless, and fuck anyone who points out the shit in the food and how awful the restaurant now is. It’s HIS favorite restaurant and he’s going to keep eating there regardless of the shit in the food. He’s eaten shit for so long, he has convinced himself that it doesn’t taste that bad after all. Hell, in 17 meals, he might get 9 without shit! Complain? Why complain? After all, the shit hasn’t killed him and his favorite restaurant is still open. The chef? Oh, he “hates” the chef, but heaven forbid he tries to get him fired. No, no…. he won’t do that. He CAN’T do that. After all, it’s his favorite restaurant and part of his routine. He’s convinced himself that eating shit about half the time is pretty damn good…. It’s his new, accepted standard.

It’s his (and your and everyone else’s) right to keep eating the shit, but let’s not pretend that it is normal or sane.

It’s not about wanting your team to lose, it’s about wanting your team to strive to win a championship. The Steelers don’t do that, ownership admitted it. They want to be “above the mean” which means 9 wins. Tomlin’s risk averse coaching strategy is not designed and will never win a championship. The avoidance of the middle of the field or throwing downfield, or going for it on 4th and short is all designed to eliminate risk and allow the team to win ONE more game than it loses.

What can fans do? The absolute best thing that has happened to the franchise since Ben retired was the “Fire Tomlin” chants at the game last week. It created national media attention and surely shook the coach and ownership to their core. When fans stop liking the team they stop caring and stop spending money on the product. That will force necessary change. Right now Rooney is fat and happy going 9-8 and taking your money. It’s the assholes who happily support this watered down bullshit version of the Steelers that are the problem.

That’s why calling them BALLWASHERS is a perfect fit. These clowns who do nothing but drink the kool aide and wash the Steelers balls at every ridiculous move they make are what is preventing real change and a return to a franchise that can compete for Championships.

So yes, I consider Swissvale72 and his ilk of ballwashers to be the problem with the franchise and why they will continue to suck. Fortunately, the haters far outweigh the ballwashers in 2025. Some day we will get our franchise back from complacency and freshly washed balls.

Sure Perch...all my fault, posting on a fuckin message board, that the Steelers aren't winning super bowls. You know how ridiculous that sounds?? And lemme ask you this....what are the chances of Steelers winning a playoff game if they're not in the playoffs??

That's all !!!
This post is going to create quite the response post when the Steelers inevitably get embarrassed again to end the season. For fans with a brain, today was worst case scenario. Rest of the division already has more young talent than us, now they will all have top 10-15 draft picks. We will be stuck picking in the 20’s and shopping for retread QBs in free agency. Maybe next year we can win 9 games again and continue the cycle.

I know it's wrong because losses will signal the end of the Tomlin Era faster than wins will.

But on gameday, I cannot root for the Steelers to lose.

I don't get all fired up if they win, and I don't get fussed when I have to miss games anymore.

But come game day, I cannot root for losses.

Especially not this season, a year where there's no truly good team in the AFC.

Yes I know at the end, Tomlin will disappoint, but the AFC being in a down year means Tomlin could luck into something.

Like in the two years he did get the team to the Super Bowl because other teams knocked out the Patriots for him.

So that's where I am, as screwed up as it may be.

Guess who else lost control of the ball in the EZ (in the SB) but it was a TD:

I count two steps and ground causing the fumble

If diving to the EZ is a football move so is extending the arms out

So what we are saying is that Likely would have been good if he would have just dove to the ground and lost the ball

Or something

Can’t get behind you asshats rooting for wins and Tomlins continuance

You’re all suffering Stockholm syndrome. Led by your fearless cheerleader
Can't get behind you asshats rooting for the Steelers to lose.
Whether you like it or not Swiss, sometimes things need to get worse before they get better. Sometimes, you start rooting for the bad things in hope that change will make things better. It's like a battered woman with a child. The mom never leaves the husband, even though she is getting the crap knocked out of her weekly, sometimes daily. The child is secretly hoping and praying that something wakes Mom up to the point that she leaves Dad, because he/she knows that once that happens, life will be better for the both of them. Now, the child does not wish for something tragic, but does wish for something that will change mom. Rooting for loses is not nearly on that same level, but it does exemplify the desire we as fans have for a change that will make our team better.

Edit: No, I don't openly root for the Steelers to lose. I like it when they win. But even so, it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth knowing that wins equals more time that Tomlin is the coach! It's a double edged sword!

Wouldn't call it screwed up at all, it's pretty much where I am at this point, as well. Can't actually root for the loss, but I'm not at all depressed when they happen, anymore, and yeah, the trek to the bar used to be mandatory when the Steelers weren't on TV, then it was finding a stream instead, and now I'm not terribly broken up if I can't pull that off, either. Decorated the house for Christmas on Sunday with the game on in the background, something I probably wouldn't have been able to pull off five years ago, and definitely not ten.
Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile...

Can we all enjoy the fact that the Ravens suck as badly as the Steelers? That's fun right? And as someone who has been calling Lamar overrated for 5+ years I did enjoy watching him try to run a 2 minute drill.

Each year I want either a 1) Pats style resurgence or 2) a Raiders style dumpster fire. Unfortunately Tomlin is not capable of either. We're in the middle my friends. Might as well enjoy the ride.

I'm all in on Steelers winning the division and seeing if they can keep the Bills rushing attack under 2 bills. Then they can take their chances with Nix/Maye. Could be fun.

btw dream scenario: Steelers actually make a run of some kind and Tomlin sends an F U to the fans and agrees to a trade, bringing back a first rounder from the Giants, who don't need a QB in the upcoming draft. Steelers get their QB.
