Fool's gold
Fool's gold
1. The defense was still abysmal. Gave up over 200 yards on the ground again (still a bad day if you apply FWP logic to it). Bailed out more by Baltimore's ineptness compared to the defense doing anything.
2. The offense was not sustainable. Rodgers hit some beautiful balls deep (and even had some throws over the middle). But the deep plays were part of the U. It is impossible to have consistent big plays when you focus on the U.
3. Steelers' running game sucked -- especially when Washington exited the game. Washington creates a mismatch for opponents. If you add a run stopper, he is good enough as a receiver to beat the run stuffer. If you counter with a pass defender, he will make a crushing block. Without him, the run offense was abysmal.
4. Coaches still coached scared. Tomlin opened up the offense and attacked the first half. Even attacked in the 3rd quarter. But he got the ball late and even off of a terrible timeout call, he had a chance to effectively put the game away with a first down. Baltimore comes out with a goal line defense. Tomlin calls for two runs followed by a short pass. But for holding call on the punt, Baltimore would've ended up great field position and more than enough time to get down field while leaving PGH little time to get down field. The goal there has to be a single first down. First down play should've been PA setting up a nice little 8 yard play. That then gives you two (maybe three) shots at a first down that effectively seals the game. Tomlin coached scared again trusting his running game that did nothing all game and his defense that just was torn up the second half.
It worked out for him due to two holding calls and Lamar being terrible at running a 2min drive. But giving a team the ball around 35-40 with just under 2 minutes and a TO is a terrible position to be up less than a TD.

They're still going to save Tomlin's precious NHALS.
Zero doubt about it.
They'll beat Miami and they'll either beat Cleveland, or they'll beat Baltimore.

This gets back to a constant theme…”turtling”
Instead of attacking and playing to win Tomlin goes super conservative hoping a defense that absolutely blows can bail him out again. Such a stupid approach to “winning.”
Been discussed ad nauseum so I won’t, but we were beyond likely, I mean lucky to win that.

Yesterday's result and leading up to the game was an all hands on deck for the illusionists to save precious Tomlin and NAHLS.
The media asshats talking up Tomlin scenarios, was the "code red" to keep status quo on the 'Golden Tomlin' Standard Sacred Cow continuance.
Seeing what the Refs/NY cooked up to influence clearly shows that level or effort

I wholeheartedly agree that NHALS will be secured…Mission will be accomplished. This board will erupt with posts of joy over the accomplishment and definitely not the bewailing, lamenting and gnashing of teeth seen here on a regular basis over it
I THINK YOU ARE CORRECT about what you are saying. Especially NY and refs. They got his back it appears to me.DumlinBumlinStumlin wrote: ↑Mon Dec 08, 2025 3:55 pmYesterday's result and leading up to the game was an all hands on deck for the illusionists to save precious Tomlin and NAHLS.

Tomlin is a chaos agent as he has not only pissed off fans but corrupted the league and the press to keep the charade going.
I've never seen so many fans upset about a bad call that went their way. Ever. And kudos to the honest fans for having integrity.

Good point to enrich the conversation. I was looking for bad calls in this game, as some posters mentioned last week we were getting the worst officiating crew rated out in the league. That means they (NY) can insert themselves where need be to drive an outcome.Dan Smith--BYU wrote: ↑Mon Dec 08, 2025 4:12 pmTomlin is a chaos agent as he has not only pissed off fans but corrupted the league and the press to keep the charade going.

BUT
I subscribe to every word.
No doubt in my mind Art 2 sent out an SOS distress signal to his friends up on Park Avenue.
The walls were closing in on NHALS and his boy, Mike Tomlin.
The review team 100% determined the outcome of yesterday's football game and THEY did it for ARTHUR J. (erkoff) ROONEY II
Now with NHALS all but secure and the media placated, there's only one thing left to do (no its' not win the WHOLE FUCKIN THING).
NOW
I (we) HOPE
I HOPE the Steelers win the AFC NORF
I HOPE the Steelers get a HOME playoff game
I HOPE that IF (when) the Steelers lose, that it is in the HIGHLY embarrassing fashion we've become accustom to.
I HOPE that fans chant "FIRE TOMLIN" and boo their ever loving lungs out
But ohhh noooo
That's just the appetizer
The main course comes at the NFL Draft
For cities like Green Bay, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh hosting the NFL draft is their SUPER BOWL.

This is the part I was cussing the coaches for the most, 1st down against that defensive front is screaming quick pass, get 6-8 yards or heaven forbid a first down on first down and put the game away....this is how good teams put other teams away, they don't rely on their defense having to get a stop when they can simply get a first down and go into victory formation.

to the bolded part, I know Drama, it does but we have a long history of NFL and it's operational processes to understand things are influenced. We can talk about the Patriots in the former, 1970s Steriods era, Chiefs getting calls dominance, you name itSteeldrama wrote: ↑Mon Dec 08, 2025 4:27 pmOn the surface, this post looks very tin foil hat.DumlinBumlinStumlin wrote: ↑Mon Dec 08, 2025 3:55 pmYesterday's result and leading up to the game was an all hands on deck for the illusionists to save precious Tomlin and NAHLS.

Fool's gold is better than no gold at all.
There are teams/fanbases out of the hunt well before Thanksgiving. At least we have the opportunity to watch meaningful football with the Steelers.
10-7 is not out of the possibilities.
Long live the Black & Gold.

Who was this asshole directing this kiss towards?
The nuthuggin ballwashers?
The Fire Tomlin crew?
New York and whoever called in that TD?
A curious response from a curious Coach T. This isn't football anymore, it's something entirely different. He and his POS son were right, it's sports entertainment. The gullible drink it up.
This win further cemented my dislike for this cocky worthless asshole. He deserves more embarrassment.

"We, as an offensive collective were off today, and certainly, he's a component of that,"
I did notice him rocking back and forth, side to side, nervously in the waning moments of the game
Think he was thinking more of his collective than the actual game being played
Yes it’s my hypothesis but with this arrogant fuck it’s quite possible

It felt like a full court press from the NFL to throw a lifesaver to Tomlin and the Steelers to save their flailing brand at this moment in time.

As someone who lived in Stamford CT, I was surprised when NBC, NFL and WWE have sizable operations in that small hamlet! WWE is HQed there. NBC studios are there and the SNF broadcast originates from there.
It wouldn’t take much to go to the dark side of a pure entertainment corporation, especially with the amount of pure corruption that becomes more and more accepted and lack of accountability that becomes more and more difficult to obtain.
