It's moments like these...

Post by CKSteeler » Mon Jan 05, 2026 4:40 am

It's moments like these where I have to do what everyone true fan has to do in the dark moments. I have to pick myself up off the mat, dust myself off, and put some money down on Mike Tomlin losing in the Wild Card round in an epic beatdown where he ties Marvin Lewis for playoff futility.

Goodnight, everybody.

But it's going to be the Immovable Object v the Irresistable Force.

Tomlin's playoff futility v his excellence on Monday nights.

What wins out?

So close and yet so far.

Seeing that arrogant fuck beat his chest and blow the kiss was sticking a knife in my eye.

That was the most disgusting game I’ve ever seen. He’s like herpes. You can’t kill him.

FUCK YOU, MEDIOCRE MIKE.
Mike Tomlin and NHALS - The embodiment of the soft bigotry of lowered expectations.

The league really wants this bug-eyed fuck to win a playoff game, don't they?

If there's any god, this has to end sometime.

Another signature Mike Tomlin regular season victory. Wait for the other team to lose with fuckups. So disgusted with the state of this franchise. Dan and Art Sr. would be embarrassed to see this shit. Just checking the score on ESPN infuriates me. Fuck Mike Tomlin and Fuck the NFL.
Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”

Texans gonna clap Tomlin next week but it doesn’t matter. He got NHALS and a big extension.

Liquidate every asset you own and place it on the Texans to cover (currently at only -2.5).

I just can’t imagine they don’t come out flat next week.

The games against Baltimore were always slobberknockers. They really haven’t been since Ben and the rule changes.

But tonight was a pretty physical game.

I recall losing many games after a Baltimore victory. We’d win the battle and lose the war.

Everyone celebrating this awesome "win" on the GameDay thread should have their right to criticize Tomlin revoked. When push comes to shove they're ballwashers content to consume product.

Good point. Seems the table can now be slanted towards Pitt being a good story underdog

But the Marvin Lewis futility is on my mind more

The Steelers are on the right side of moments like these more often than not - at least in the regular season. Brand new opportunity to get right in the playoffs next week.

So happy to be a Steelers fan on a night like tonight. Best franchise in sports! :D

Not unless he say wins a game or two then decides he wants to change and move on

Seems that story is now a thing now

i agree the real ballbuster may be next week
because NHALS takes a huge hit when it's coupled with longest playoff losing streak in history especially if they get stomped

i still believe he got an extension tonihht but if they lose playoff game next weekend - maybe he will be forced to change his approach or leave?

that said. i smell a win next week. this team is the luckiest one yet for tomlin

This!^^^

Is why the fraudlin Steelers were belichick’s and Brady’s Bitch for nearly two decades.

They out perfect’d fraudlin beating him at his own game more than not

Why he so often points to ‘execution’ as the blame for losing to the bottom feeder 3 win teams.

I know it came down to a missed FG. I’ve been a Tomlin critic but tonight I have to give him his due.

For what, exactly? His defense dropped like 4 coverages that resulted in TD's. His defense allowed 120 rushing yards by the midway point of the second quarter before the Ravens basically failed to give Henry the ball for the rest of the game choosing instead to put it in the hands of Lamar. He needed an injury to Kyle Hamilton before his offense to show any signs of life. He squandered all 3 TO's because he apparently hasn't authorized his 42 year old future HOF QB to call his own plays if his headset goes out (this happens every season - Rodgers has experienced it along with Tomlin - don't pretend this wasn't a contingency they had probably discussed or at least should have known how to handle).

We could go on.

The pass rush was nifty against a hobbled Lamar against an OL that has struggled with pass pro all season (for those who think we see a repeat of that next week). That be about it. This was the opponent that Mike Tomlin knows better than any other in the league. He was still outcoached schematically.

Ravens lost this with their own stupidity and errors more than Tomlin won anything. But that's not new, right?

They aren't winning anything and this non-loss means absolutely nothing about the trajectory of the franchise more than an extra game will be played.

Pretty sobering post. I will just add the injuries were mostly self-inflicted by the Raven’s too. Hamilton ear-holed by his own player was strange!

If Tomlin didn’t think anthrax, ebola, flesh eating bacteria and meningitis didn't live in the middle of the field, we might have a chance. Nothing highlighted this more than the ridiculous passes from Rodgers that kept getting batted down on the sidelines right as they reached the WRs, of which there were several; none illustrating the ineptitude and irrational fear of the middle of the field than the one targeting Muth on a long slow developing play to the sidelines by our lumbering TE late in the game. Then when the middle of the field was used by same QB and TE, magical pixie dust happened and vanquished the anthrax, ebola, flesh eating bacteria and meningitis; it was amazing!

All of the real EKG swings in winning percentage came with usage of the middle of the field.

All valid points CK. It’s just that they found a way to win despite that adversity, much of it self inflicted.
