I'm thinking that bad weather especially rain, wind, heavy snow, favors the defense.
Based on that, the Steelers need good weather more than the Oilers do.

Will bad weather prevent the secondary from figuring out who covers who in the 4th quarter?

Boz also missed a PAT in our last game.
What’s weird is I can’t get a straight answer on that. Miss? Blocked? Bermuda Triangle-like cross wind? Twilight Zone episode? Cockeyed football that was part of a deep state Goodell conspiracy?TimmayLake wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 7:59 pmBoz also missed a PAT in our last game.

Plus, low 30s or even 29* isn’t really that cold for football unless there is slushy ice & rain.
Shit, I’ve tee’d off some Saturday mornings in Dec/Jan when it was like 38 degrees out.
Now THAT is definately not ideal golf weather. Far from it. And you really can’t wear too many layers when golfing as it limits your ability to get a good turn.
If men in their 50s and 60s (my golf group) can tee off when it’s 38 I’m pretty sure young stud athletes with the best equipment money can buy will be just fine in weather 10 degrees cooler.
Especially given their level of physical excursion.
Now if it were in the low teens or below 10 degreees then ya, it might impact some.
30 degrees? Shit. That’s child’s play.

I'd be curious to see who the dome teams were in the first place and what happened in those games, though I'm far too apathetic about the NFL and the Steelers to go do that research at this point.
The Texans could definitely still win obviously. But people claiming that a team that plays in a comfy dome all year in the South suffers nothing from coming north this time of the year is a tad ridiculous to me.
I'm in Florida. Watch how Floridians react when it gets into the 50's. You see people in full winter regalia. It's pretty fucking ridiculous as someone who grew up in the north and cold.

I'm not making any claims. It was just referenced on Boston sports radio yesterday and the data was cited on this OP. Sure, one would have to go "inside the numbers" to see if it's worth paying attention to."
Listen.. .. I think we’re gonna get blown out.
..but..the ‘he once played in this weather’ argument is garbage. It takes AT LEAST one week to acclimate to different temperatures. … doesn’t matter where you grew up or if you’ve experienced them before.

Couple other nuggets heading into wildcard weekend, just food for thought
Teams favored by 3 or less are 2-9 straight up since 2020, meanwhile in the same span teams favored by 3.5 or more are 17-2 straight up, currently Houston is favored by 3.
https://x.com/GrahamBarfield/status/200 ... 65428?s=20
Steelers last 6 playoff games....0-6 straight up obviously and 0-6 ATS
https://x.com/johnewing/status/2008712690798129511?s=20
As of Jan 5th, 80% of the money at BetMGM is on Houston to cover, moving the line from 3 to 3.5
https://x.com/johnewing/status/2008350304342020174?s=20
Last 5 seasons Steelers are 33-15-1 (.684) in games decided by 7 points or less, tops in the NFL in 1 score games.
https://x.com/BrianBatko/status/2008730 ... 87301?s=20
My 2 cents for what it is worth, if the game is close, I think the Steelers win, if Houston wins they will win by a lot (most likely IMO to happen), and zero chance that the Steelers win comfortably.

You know we have players that have been here a short time and aren’t born and bred in cold weather climes?
DK came from Seattle. Jonu and Ramsey just came from Florida. Are they Eskimos now after their short time in da Burgh?
You know Rogers is a west coast boy that was just fine playing in Green Bay right? How could that be?
How many players on the Texans came from cold weather before landing there?
This is FAR too nuanced for a simpleton such as yourself to get those two brain cells of yours wrapped around.
This cold weather team vs warm weather team was much more of a thing back in the day before there was mass free agency. It’s just not as relevant these days with so much player movement.
Stroud played at Ohio State. Was it never cold there?
Data didn’t seem to help the Steelers against the Chargers in 94 AFCCG now did it?
Or how bout those boys from Jacksonville FLORIDA coming into Pittsburgh and hanging 45 points on our asses? But but my “data” says dat can’t happen.
The only data relevant here is your posting history that proves beyond a doubt you are one stupid fuck.
Beating the cold is a mindset. Don’t tell me for one second our weak minded team has some sort of monopoly on that shit.
DK is so weak minded he just let some blue haired dufus get him suspended.
You get dumber by the day. Literally get more stupid each time you post.

The 94 Chargers say hello.
So do the 2018 Jaguars.
There are massive heaters on the sidelines.
You are on the field for minutes at a time and then back to the heaters.
I’m not saying it’s not an advantage at all but we are talking about 30 degrees here.
Some of you are acting like it’s going to be 3 degrees.
There is a BIG fucking difference.
Here is what I know. The team that has a better plan, executes, and doesn’t turn the ball over will win.
Weather will be a tiny factor maybe for a play here or a play there. Drop a pass. Not throw great pass etc.
You guys and this nonsense that 30 degree weather is some sort of massive advantage for us.
Give me a break.
Ya it’s not the same thing but if I can get out in 38 degrees and play just fine some 26 year old athlete with massive heaters and the best gear can run on the field for a few minutes at a time in 30 degree weather and run around before going back to their massive heaters.
This ain’t going to be the Ice Bowl part deux.

Nobody gives a fuck about your golf game, you illiterate asshole. And no one's suggesting that the weather will be some huge factor on monday night, rather posting the record of dome teams playing outdoors less than 40!degrees. The original post simply asked what people thought of that information. Then, someone posted the record of the Texans kicker outside the dome, which some found interesting.955876 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 08, 2026 7:04 amAh the “data” huh.swissvale72 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 11:20 pmThe data is out there, but sure, your experience on the golf course is more relevant.955876 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 10:31 pm

So enroll in a remedial reading course, you stupid fuck.
Given you are Mr.Steelers history round here I know that you that OUR TEAM has a history of allowing warm weather teams come into Pittsburgh in January and beat us. Even when those teams have been underdogs.
That is the only history that matters. That and the fact this warm weather Texans team just beat KC on the road with temps in the mid-20s.
And the golf reference was to point out that 30 degree weather isn’t exactly all that damn cold.
Maybe your old bones can’t handle 30 degree weather but I’m pretty sure the temp will be down the list in terms of deciding who wins this game.
What is most likely taking place here is you know your team is “below the line” if you will when it comes to performing in the playoffs so you are clutching your pearls hoping Mother Nature can help them.

Go back to the beginning of this OP, then scroll down every post that came from me. I think you will see that I raised the issue and then ask the question. I asked what others thought, did this give the Steelers an advantage? I never said definitively that it did. So maybe you should start reading shit before you level accusations, but that would be too much to expect of you.
You’ve been watching football for how long?
You’ve been watching this team for how long?
You can recall games, outcomes, situations, key plays better than any Steelers fan I’ve come across.
Can’t you answer your own question with all that experience?
It’s going to be around 33* at kickoff at least according to weather report right now.
Weather only a factor if it’s raining, snowing, or temps are in the low 20s or worse.
30s is a non-factor.
As I said, good thing you are retired.

I merely raised the question as I thought it might be of some general interest. Given the number and quality of the responses, excluding your irrelevant golf bullshit, it apparently has been. No surprise that your illiterate ass can't accept the OP for what it is.955876 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 08, 2026 4:57 pmYou’ve been watching football for how long?

Pot calling kettle black when it comes to reading comprehension.
I get what you said. I just think it’s irrelevant given it’s really not going to be that cold at all.
Now if the temp was going to be 13* with ice and snow then maybe it’s worthy of discussion.
33 degrees with no chance of rain or snow is nothing more than you clutching pearls and you know it.
Please oh please Mother Nature intervene

You’ve been watching football for approx 60 years and had to ask that lame question about 30 degree weather.
Absolutely clutching pearls grasping at anything you hope gives the team an advantage.
The team that tackles better, hits harder, doesn’t turn the ball over, runs better, gets better QB play, and has the better plan will win.
This ain’t the Ice Bowl pops and finely tuned athletes aren’t going to be impacted by a dry 33 degree game.
We might win. We might lose. Weather isn’t going to determine that outcome.

They are also not a dome team-- they do play with the fabric cover in most day games but have it open during mild weather and night games.swissvale72 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 11:20 pmThe data is out there, but sure, your experience on the golf course is more relevant.955876 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 10:31 pmThis.TimmayLake wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 2:38 pmCJ Stroud played his college ball at Ohio State. Well what do you think after SIX DECADES. Of watching this sport?
It might it might not. Duh.
Playing in Pittsburgh certainly didn’t help the 94 Steelers or the 2018 Steelers when warm weather SD and Jville came to town and beat us. Maybe Stroud’s pinky finger gets cold Monday night and he throws a key pick. Maybe Rogers old bones can’t take the hits and we end up with Bibberty.
You know this shit.
Your ass is so puckered over this game I bet if you shoved an oyster up it you’d shit out a pearl come Monday.
