SBI
Some of us will be watching intently this weekend, having some belief or hope that the Steelers will win their home playoff game against the Houston Texans.
With that in mind, what's SBI for the other two AFC wildcard games on Sunday more specifically should the bills win on Sunday, do we wait for the Chargers on Sunday night which would give the Steelers another home game for the divisional playoffs against the bills, or do we root for the Patriots And a trip to New England for divisional playoff weekend?
I guess I have to go with rooting for the Chargers and getting another home game… But not 100% on that

Home/away to me is less important than the opponent.swissvale72 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 08, 2026 3:24 pmSome of us will be watching intently this weekend, having some belief or hope that the Steelers will win their home playoff game against the Houston Texans.

I think the Steelers would match up better vs the Chargers
We can only play the Chargers if both make it to AFCCG.
Chargers are 7 seed. If they win they go to Denver and we play winner of Buff/Jags.
NE wins we go to NE.
So the choice this week is do you want Buff @ home or Jags/NE on the road.
None of those options are good IMO so I’d say with all things being equal go with the home game

Ahhh yea, I misread that.955876 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 08, 2026 5:10 pmWe can only play the Chargers if both make it to AFCCG.

Would agree that the Bills are the least desirable matchup then.
You’d rather play NE on the road vs Buff at home?
Thats kind of a rough one I’d have to grind on.
We’ve not had good success vs Buff lately so I get that.
I also know we can’t count on NE turning it over 18 times like they did in our win this year.
It would be nice to send those fucks up in Massachusetts home with a loss for a change though
I guess if I had to roll the dice I’d choose the more inexperienced QB in Maye vs Josh Allen.
But then, if playing in the road you then ask Maye vs Lawrence?

First take care of business with the Texans
And if we are fantasizing why not this scenario,
Then go on the road to Mile High and beat Tebowless Broncos,
Then go to Jacksonville with a bunch of Steelers fans in the house,
And finally head west to take on the Green Bay Packers in a storybook rematch.

NHALS secured. Check.
In the playoffs. Check
AFCN Champions. Check
Beat the Texans. In progress
Here We Go Steelers

Trevor Lawrence can and will give a game away and kill the Jags season. That's my prediction. So even if he's technically more experienced than Maye, and the game would be played in Jacksonville which has kind of not been kind to Pittsburgh over the years, I'd say that's the most favorable match-up they could draw assuming they win against Houston.
You clearly don’t understand how the playoff bracket works junior. We can’t go the Mike High before going to Jville.Texas Black & Gold wrote: ↑Thu Jan 08, 2026 7:23 pmFirst take care of business with the Texans

I think Houston is the best AFC team, though. Playing them at home on Monday night is why I picked the Steelers... but as I also said, I think the game will end and we will all be wondering, "How the hell did they win that game!!!???"

If the home teams win this weekend the Steelers will be travelling to Mile High next week.955876 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 08, 2026 7:52 pmYou clearly don’t understand how the playoff bracket works junior. I think SBI is Chargers and Bills win this week. Setting up:
Chargers at Broncos
Bills at Steelers
I think a 2nd Bills game goes very differently. Steelers may not win. But I expect that they would shut down the run.
Chargers at home for AFCCG would be nice. At Denver would bring back great memories (2008) and terrible memories (Tebow).

Yup- the Bills are a very bad matchup for the Steelers. They have no one to contain Josh Allen955876 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 08, 2026 7:02 pmYou’d rather play NE on the road vs Buff at home?

Seems like it's the great thinker 95 who doesn't understand how the playoff brackets work. Every once in a while a blind squirrel finds a nut.
Every once in a while even 95 is wrong.
I missed that one…

My bad Texas B&G.
Too my credit I am doing 100 other things while here in the office and intermittently posting.
Unlike Swiss with nothing but time on his hands who is sitting outside licking his finger and sticking it in the air to gauge the current windchill.

I can't bring myself to actively cheer against the Steelers. But, I'm not going to cry too much if we lose. If there is a 5% chance Tomlin is gone from a loss, I'll take it. Hope springs eternal.

As fans though, when we're watching games on Sunday....who do we root for, Bills or Jags?lifelongsteel wrote: ↑Thu Jan 08, 2026 10:53 pmGood point. We should stay focused on the task at hand and not get caught looking ahead.
And after knowing who won that game, who do we root for, Pats or Chargers?
Im going Bills....and then i THINK Chargers
There are 3 outcomes here IMO. Two of them are good and one sucks.
The two good:
1) we win and move on.
2) we get absolutely smoked. This game is like our last several playoff games that are over almost as soon as they start.
Sucks:
3) we lose a close one at the end where it looked like we were going to win.
That outcome IMO is the worst possible to me.
Um yeah we can.955876 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 08, 2026 7:52 pmYou clearly don’t understand how the playoff bracket works junior. We can’t go the Mike High before going to Jville.Texas Black & Gold wrote: ↑Thu Jan 08, 2026 7:23 pmFirst take care of business with the Texans

If we (#4), the Jags (#3), and the Patriots (#2) all win this weekend, the Jags go to New England and we play at Mile High against the #1 Broncos.
They re-seed the brackets after each round of he playoffs.

I see that now.
I occasionally get an odd synching error when i log onto this site with different devices.
When I added my response, the board had not updated with all the intervening messages on my one device.
I have to remember to refresh on that device before reading.
