Your choice for HC

Post by Greeksteel » Sat Jan 17, 2026 4:26 pm

After doing a little bit of due diligence, my choice for next Steelers HC is...

Nate Scheelhaase

Who you guys got?

“You can’t rely on talent and just think that we have better players, better athletes and we’re just going to go out there and win," Scheelhaase said in an exclusive with The Sports Bank prior to his senior season.

“I think it comes down to what your about as a team, as one unit going forth. And I think we learned that.”
This touches on my sig of a Kodiak quote...
Tomlin never got it in this aspect.

BCA

Best
Coach
Available

I don’t have a strong conviction on any one guy

I’d like B2B’s guy Udinski or the brick Scheelhause

The Kubiak brothers would do nicely

To think Art is going to hire anyone other than defense is foolhardy so I’m bracing for Shula the battleship commander and hope he convinces his Rams teammate Scheelhause to join him

So many possibilities!

Sooooo exciting!!

Gooooo Steelers!!!!

Couple of pump the brakes thoughts on this Steelhouse kid.
He was born in the 1990s....
1990
Lol. Man I feel old.... tho I did not have kids yet.

He is the passing game coordinator under McVey...
Under Sean McVey.
Who was producing high octane top tier offenses since Nate was an assistant at Illinois and Iowa 8 years ago.

He is a coordinator assisting Matthew Stafford.
Matthew Stafford has been carving up defenses for 17 years...approaching 70k yards.

Some positives.
Stafford had the best year of his career.
Led NFL in yards and TDs....with only 8 picks for all that passing. But he did add Davonte Adams TD machine to pair with Puca and a nice trio of sure handed TEs.

There is a reason Nate may have had or has interviews with like 12 teams. Sounds like he has been one of the smartest players and leaders on his teams as a player....
And the same had held true as an assistant.

Has an assistant coach been hired as THE head coach before?.... before being an OC or DC?

I’ve been on record for the last decade saying I want the best young offensive mind in the league. Never forget kids, we could’ve sent Tomlin to the Bears and hired Ben Johnson last year.

My dream is Klint Kubiak with Nate Scheelhaase as offensive coordinator. Get a solid DC and a good QB and watch the fireworks.

Any thoughts on Joe Brady? Bills OC.
Spent 2 years under Sean Payton when Brees was QB.... that's alot of brain waves to absorb.

Passing game coordinator and wr coach for a year and 2019 insane LSU season with Joe Burrow, J. Chase and J Jefferson.

QB coach and then OC with bills.
Bills offense missing alot of pieces this year.

He's been around and involved with alot of great talent and minds in a short time.
Payton. Brees. Burrow. Chase. JJ. Josh.

I curse all the delays and setbacks and mis appropiated funds in the development of the GD time machine...
I recall the wanting and wishing fur that to happen last year

Read last night there very well could be 3 to 4 more names added to their interview list.

As of right now, today? I personally would hire Klay Kubiak as HC.

Now, who the Steelers hire? As of today, my guess…Shula.

I believe if they convince him he can run his own show and not have to perpetuate their shitshow.

I’m still in a wait and see mode….

ya we really missed the boat on that one. What was the rumored deal 2 1sts and you're trading Tomlin for Johnson. Ouch

i want to find the guy who worked with Josh Allen when he turned things around that off-season and pay him a boatload of money to join the organization. I don't think it was really anyone on the Bill's staff.

i’m also concerned that having 8-12 guys on your list means you don’t really know what you want.
kinda like having 3 qbs means you have zero

Greek.
I think the common theme around many of these "hot" offensive minds, is that they are around and are coaching under and with very good offensive minded teams, head coaches with pretty good players.
So have they just progessed up the ranks on those teams and when they leave the next guy jumps in , plugs away and will be next years hot commoditiy?

Maybe we look back again at the candidates and see who was doing the most with what?

I don't know enough about the various candidates to have a strong opinion, but I'd lean toward the Rams Passing Co because I'm convinced they need to focus on offense

That being said- I feel like Art is going to go down the path well traveled, and hire a DC.

Probably Shula, but could be Minter.

I really really hope that Art doesn't interview through the lens of run run pass punt- and hire a Tomlin 2.0

Meaning ultra conservative, ball control, time pressure, bullshit

All fingers and toes crossed
