A hell of a lot better move than extending TJ.

But all they did here was increase Cam's pay this season by $2M, freed up close to $5.5M in cap space, and added on one more year that probably doesn't have any guarantees and that's assuming he would even play in 2027, which my guess is this is his last season.

Can't hate on this contract.

His play merited the extension. But man he's a really unlikeable guy.

Supposedly not. At least, outside of his contract.

I don't really care. As a Tomlin apologist and winner of squat, the Steelers don't owe Cam anything. I'd have wiped that stench away.

The stupidity of this can’t be over stated. I would have cut him, his brother, J. Smith and several other over-the-hill players.

Hey, that extra 2mill will help him feed his family! Dang, with food prices up, I wish I had an extra 2 million to feed my family. With that kind of coin, I could raise a family of sumo wrestlers!

Boo. I think the Steelers get sentimental about long time players not having playoff success. Maybe the long time players are the reason they haven't had playoff success.

Pouncey snapping the ball into the endzone was the play that epitomized that generation of Steelers who couldn't win anything. Heyward is the glue between the DeCastro/Pouncey/AB/Bell teams and the TJ Watt teams.

Everyone says that "he's great" and "better than ever" etc etc . . .

But how does a team with a wrecking ball like Heyward and R1/R2 picks like Harmon and Benton and huge contract edge guys like Watt and Highsmith seem to always let teams run down their throats. Something doesn't add up. Look, I know their ILB suck and Tomlin tended to run nickel D even against heavy personnel etc., but I'm not buying that this DL is anything but mid, and by extension Heyward isn't all he's cracked up to be.

If the young guys can play they don't need Heyward. If the young guys can't play then they've got to find new young guys.

Don’t underestimate the stale, outdated scheme that is/was(?) being run out there…every…fucking…week! I’ve been around high school programs that game plan with better details than the idiot Tomlin and his band of morons!
Hopefully, that’s all in the past.

Yep. Combine that with the lack of talent development and it's really not true that this team has below average talent or a bad FO.

Colbert - with Cowher - built what should have been a dynasty. Weidl came HIGHLY regarded from the Eagles. Talent is fine - above average, probably overall. The big problem has been coaching / scheme / playcalls.

You would think he would find a way to Tuitt himself out of having to play.
"I'm institutionalized, man," he joked. "I gotta have it. I just love the challenges week in and week out that this job provides: the growth in it, the collective growth, the individual growth."

He may once he realizes he's no longer playing for Camp Tomlin.

I’m just glad the fat bastard will now be able to feed his family.

Th real question is, will Cam puff his chest and walk off the field with his HC like he did Jibba Jabber?

He might have to find a new buddy. Poor guy.

Why didnt he get MVP last year, and a backup RB instead "won" the title.

Not that I want to see or hear him, but what happened to the Godlike Coach Mike. Just fell off the face of the planet.

Cam had a good year last year. I have zero problem with this move. I'd make him ditch that fuckin podcast though.
