SF Board Draft 2025 Comments, Rules, & Trade Talk
Re: SF Board Draft 2025 Comments, Rules, & Trade Talk
So... Styles in coverage? Obviously, transitioned from safety, where he was already proficient-very good, and if he's got a weakness as a LB, it's getting to his spot from a linebacker position at the snap, rather than from safety, but he really made strides (like a lot of the players on D) under Patricia last season. I've seen every snap in Columbus, usually more than once. The 3 cone time, while it wasn't elite, wasn't too shabby, either, for a 6'5" (!), 244 pound LB prospect.
The more he learns the ins and outs of the position, and with coaching (Tomlin is gone!), the more he'll improve.
As far as the rest of the draft, I liked Wright (almost grabbed him when I went homer with Reid) a lot where you got him. While I wasn't as hip to the Navy pair as you were, after some research, I really dig, and a shot of character and culture sure can't hurt as we sweep the previous regime out the door. Bernard seemed like great value where he fell, too, but like a QB draft, this grade's going to be all about Sonny Styles, and if it happened in real life, I'd be turning cartwheels.

The only player I would trade up for at this point would be a small trade up for LG Ioine.
Maybe in some alternative universe where zxavian harris isn’t always committing felonies, he’d be a round 1 trade up prospect to me.
More generally, i wouldn’t mind a small trade up for the FO to get their guy, but i don’t see sharp dropoff overall in talent.
Cannot for the life of me understand why everyone has such a crush on ol' Vega, particularly in a draft that's not exactly lacking in IOL prospects.

Eagles Draft Recap
1.23 Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, SS, Toledo. One of the real immediate 2026 needs I saw on this roster, and filled it with a high impact player who I really, really enjoyed watching play my old HS position for the Rockets.
2.54 Bryce Lance, WR, NDSU. As of right now, not an immediate need, but WR3 isn't exactly great right now, and he's an athletic freak that could develop into an All-Pro if he maximizes his talent under a pretty good WR coach in Aaron Moorehead. An AJ Brown trade would put a lot more pressure on this pick, obviously.
3.68 R. Mason Thomas, EDGE, Oklahoma. Short, bendy, strong as hell fireplug of an EDGE with some nice get-off. Can't have too many, and eventually the Birds are going to need to, like, not re-sign somebody. Might be one of Hunt or Smith at some point.
3.98 Jake Slaughter, OC, Florida. In these parts, where you just say "cheese steak," Cam Jurgens' Pro Bowl status is viewed about the same way Maurkice Pouncey's used to be in Pittsburgh. Oddly enough, the best UF OC since Pounce, Slaughter's great pass pro, excellent athleticism, experience and leadership make him a nice guy to have waiting in the wings.
4.122 Jack Endries, TE, Texas. He's got great hands, route-running skills and experience. Still emerging as a blocker, but he can line up in a few positions while understudying re-signed Dallas Goedert, who isn't a spring chicken, but keeps TE from being an immediate thing.
4.137 Darrell Jackson, Jr, DT, Florida. Big, long, athletic SEC D-lineman to keep our two UGA mosters fresh while he gets coached up to his (pretty ridiculous for this point in the draft) athletic potential by the same staff that unlocked Jordan Davis the last couple of seasons.
5.153 Nick Singleton, RB, PSU. The home run hitter of the two headed RB monster that kept James Franklin working for about two years longer than he deserved, Singleton rated ahead of Kaytron for me because of the top-end speed, size and upside. Imagine being this kid, getting to share a RB room with Saquon Barkley.
5.178 Keagen Trost, OL, Mizzou. Probably eventually an OG or maybe RT, versatility and run-blocking here, without a super-high ceiling. New OL coach, with Stoutland apparently hanging out as a consultant, gets a guy to work with.
6.216 Desmond Reit, RB, Pittsburgh. I get a homer pick, right? A blast to watch for my Panthers, sure he's tiny, but he can do a few things (slot? receiving back? gadget guy? punt returner?) and could be a fun toy for the new OC to scheme open in space.
Always a great time, and an interesting exercise drafting for a team that's building depth and adding possible future stars rather than frantically plugging holes in the dam, in a draft that's deeper than I thought, now that we've run the whole thought experiment. Thanks, B2B, as always, for putting this thing on, and bring on D-A-T.

I die on the hill that Micah Morris should be thought of as one of the top guards in the class, with an outside chance to play RT in the league. Weird OL coaching/plan at Georgia, as @Steeldrama will confirm, not unlike how Tennessee was when Ramon Foster was there. Like Foster, Morris is going to be a better pro than he was college player, but honestly, you look at his grades and his athletic performance... he's a better college player than people think he was. There's an OL guy who posts a lot on youtube and he's is like crazy gaga about Morris. Covered him with a lot of nuance. Main knock on Morris is: he didn't play enough behind a stacked group of vets when he got there.Mick wrote: ↑Tue Mar 24, 2026 2:22 pmbe interested in hearing more of your perspective on some of these guys, particularly toward the top (you know i love heidenreich).bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2026 8:06 pmSteelers Mock is complete. 1 6 - PIT - B2B (from CLE) - Sonny Styles, LB, Ohio State
3 69 - PIT - B2B (fr HOU) - Germie Bernard, WR, Alabama
3* 99 - PIT - B2B - Jalen Huskey, S, Maryland
4 114 - PIT - B2B (fr ATL) - Micah Morris, G, Georgia
4 121 - PIT - B2B - Eli Heidenreich, RB, Navy
4* 135 - PIT - B2B - Dametrious Crownover, OT, Texas A&M
5 146 - PIT - B2B (fr CLE) - Landon Robinson, FB/Slash, Navy
6* 216 - PIT - B2B - Dae'Quan Wright, TE, Mississippi
7 224 - PIT - B2B - J. Michael Sturdivant, WR, Florida
7 230 - PIT - B2B - Toriano Pride Jr., CB, Missouri
7 237 - PIT - B2B - Kendal Daniels, LB, Oklahoma
For Styles, when i’m looking at high end LBs, i’m looking for rare coverage abilities. For styles i didn’t see much on tape, don’t have much to go on in production #s (1 career pick), and the shuttle/3-cone times aren’t particularly good. He’s definitely a unique freak, and i love his tape downhill.
I also love his downhill tape–ingeneral he reminds me of Shazier coming out. Both had elite burst and tracking and Shazier had to learn how to become a force in coverage. I think Styles is ahead of where Shazier was, mainly because Styles played safety. For him, I think it's about adusting to the game playing backwards instead of playing stuff in front of you. I expect he will get that in time and even without it, he'll be pretty great in the NFL.
Germie is slow. Germie wasn’t good at turning pass plays into receiving yards (an important WR skill to me). He’s not young.
10th in YAC in this year's class and he's 22.3 years old, so he may not be young but he's not older either! -
6.71 Three-Cone Drill. - 4.48 40-Yard Dash. I think that's plenty fast for someonehis size. But the big plusses for this offense are: A. elite footwork/route-running and played significant snaps inside and outside. Those two things will be true of the WRs they draft or sign as long as McCarthy is the coach.
I know very little about jalen huskey. No times for a guy who still has no wiki page or public birthday (guessing 22.0ish years old?)
21.8 years old as of today. He's been timed at 4.53 but didn't run at the combine. His 40 won't be the strong suit. His smooth backpedal and play recognition from centerfield/burst to attack throws is what sets him apart. The Steelers REALLY need a guy that can be trusted on the back end, especially if thay can come downhill when needed. Huskey is one of the few in this class I would trust at that job and he isn't as old as a couple of the others are.
Crownover’s main distinction i’m aware of is leading this year’s OT class in Pressures Allowed, which isn’t going to drive you up my draft board very quickly.
I think he's been working with someone because he looked a ton better in Mobile. He was easily the best OT there in 1 on 1s. He erased the best they had there. And the thing is, he's known as a dominant run blocker. My goal was to draft a swing OT who's floor was solid guard. I think you put him at guard and his issues (mainly oversetting and being susceptible to an inside counter) are easily resolved even if this improvement doesn't hold.
Robinson I think can be a better EDGE player as a wave player than even what he was as an undersized nose. But I do think FB is in his future. Multiple teams requested that he do fullback drills and pass-catching work and he reported knocked it out of the park. Natural athlete.
Dae'Quan led the world in TE YAC and I think he;s a pretty promising blocker, although that will only be part of the reason he'll stick. This is a nice look at him: https://rememberthetightends.substack.c ... of-daequan
Sturdivant is more athlete than pass-catcher but I would say he's better than Darius Hey-ward bey, simply because he's a better route runner and does more with the ball after the catch. Again, played inside and outside at Cal/Florida and route-running is a big plus for him.
Toriano Pride I've liked since he was at Clemson. He was kind of the "other guy" opposite some great CBs, then moved westward and still played great. If he was a bit bigger, I think he'd be a top 100 pick.
Kendal Daniels is a huge hitter who is also a converted safety. i think his natural role in the NFL is as base downs LB but his play recognition is good enough that he's not going to get fooled by play action or screens as much as most early down backers. His coverage has been pretty good, actually, for a big dude.

Not that my opinion holds an validity, but I do question taking two RBs in the draft. Although, Heidenreich could be used as a slot WR. I am not really a fan of giving up so much to grab Styles, but nonetheless it's still a good pick : ) I like the TE pick in the 6th. Good value. We both chose Crownover and Sturdivant.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2026 8:06 pmSteelers Mock is complete. What say you?

Using the same draft in accordance with each player taken, I came up with...
1/__6 - Sonny Styles ILB Ohio St
3/_69 - Domonique Orange NT Iowa St
3/_99 - Zane Durant DT Penn St
4/114 - Tacario Davis CB Washington
4/121 - Billy Schrauth OG Notre Dame
4/135 - Dametrious Crownover OT Texas A&M
5/146 - Charlie Demmings CB Stephen F. Austin
6/216 - Drew Allar QB Penn St
7/224 - Caden Barnett OG Wyoming
7/230 - J. Michael Sturdivant WR
7/237 - Khris Walton OLB
I was going to take Riley Mahlman OT from Wisconsin at 7/237, but I went with a DII OLB. I didn't really go into this draft picking a QB, but Allar was there at 6/216 and seemed to be the BPA.
Hater = Realist
Would definitely rather have Wright than Allar. As much fun as it was laughing at his incompetence as soon as any kind of even imagined adversity showed up as a Buckeye and Panther fan, it's a lot less fun when he's on your team.

There was an issue with the sportsandshit domain. To make a long story short, something got accidentally changed while I was on with tech support changing a completely separate part of the site. I didn't know it wasn't working until earlier this Am and got it back and fixed around 1130a. Sorry you had trouble. P.S.; you can always reach out to me on twitter at @accidentalzen in the event there seems to be something wrong with the site.Steeldude wrote: ↑Sat Mar 28, 2026 7:32 pmGotcha.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Sat Mar 28, 2026 5:52 pm

Will do. Thanks. It wasn't huge problem. I just wanted to make sure you were aware of it.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Sat Mar 28, 2026 7:36 pmThere was an issue with the sportsandshit domain.
