Trading down is my guess
Trade down into the late first, then trade up into the early second. Hopefully they'll swing adding a top 100 pick in 2027 too.

They've proven before if their guy is there they trade up and get him.
Not that it's worked out well for them but I can see this being the case.
Love to see them move back pick up extra draft capital and still get 'their player'.
In a fans perfect world.

I kinda hope they're not buying into this not quite 11th hour Ty Simpson hype. That is all.
Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile...
Why do I hear Sadiq as a possibility?
Great talent, but TE isn’t high on my list
Unless they see him as a generational talent and Pat is being moved?
Give me:
Ioane
Rodriquez
Branch
1/2/3

are there any over 40yr immobile old QBs in the draft ? Or maybe re-tread over-paid defenders?
If so, they may trade up
If so, they may trade up
Sadiq, Mt. Washington, Pittman, DK, Warren and Dowdle give them the makings of an actually kind of interesting group of skill players.
I could talk myself into liking it.
Would saying Sadiiiiiiiiiiq work for the stadium fans?

I really don't like the idea of trading up, in general.
The draft is a total crap shoot- and for every Troy Polamalu, there are more of your Broderick Jones and Devin Bushes.
There should be a handful of pretty high ranked players at 1.21 and if by some crazy chance
Arvell Reese or Olaivavega Ioane are still on the board, you have to take them.
Given the make up of the WR room, Kevin Concepcion is my early target, but 1.21 feels like a bit of a reach for him... but I doubt he falls much further than 1.24ish
So, I'd probably add him to the list with Reese and Ioane
Otherwise, I'd be more inclined to trade down a handful of spots, later Rd 1, to pick up a late Rd 2 or Rd 3 pick. OR possibly a slightly higher 2027 pick (Rd 2)
I'm always of the opinion that the draft is just rolling dice, so the more chance you have, the greater the likelihood you hit on some tries.

I am typically not a fan of the trade up, especially this year. I hope they don’t. The Steelers have only moved down just once in the first round in over 25 years. With the draft in Pittsburgh, I believe it would be highly unlikely that they trade out of the first round. I would prefer they stay put or trade down in the first round, but you need a dance partner for that move.

I was going to say that almost every year the fans want a trade down to acquire more picks etc..but I had no idea they've only done it 1 time in 25 years...lol..It's not going to happen. This feels like an important draft to nail to the wall. I hope they do a lot of BPA picks..My biggest fear is that the new regime feels the need to make a huge splash on national TV in Pittsburgh and we are suddenly taking a QB where we probably shouldn't..the first round.Steel Ubaldo wrote: ↑Fri Apr 03, 2026 3:44 pmI am typically not a fan of the trade up, especially this year. I think this will be the year
They are not trading down with the draft in Pittsburgh. Can take that to the bank.

Exactly 95.
Why I lean towards them making some type of statement by trading up to get ‘their player’.
My hope is that said player is worth it. Not another Bush or Jones in recent history.
Or worse not trading up but reaching for some player like a Pickett or Edmunds.
Will be exciting none the less especially for Steelers fans. Just hoping not disappointing too….

Well one thing is for certain..we should get a glimpse of what a draft without nepo/gut feeling Tomlin around. How much pull did he have in the drafts?
Over these past several years, a lot. Too much. Evident by the lack of playoff success in large part to awful drafts.Works At A Bank wrote: ↑Sun Apr 05, 2026 6:16 pmWell one thing is for certain..we should get a glimpse of what a draft without nepo/gut feeling Tomlin around. if you go by what has been written and said by most of the Pittsburgh media, shades had final say.955876 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 05, 2026 6:49 pmOver these past several years, a lot. Too much. What has Fat Mike done in the past? I guess I could go look.
I'm just going to remind myself that Coach T is gone, he has no more pull, he imagines he does I bet, but we have a guy that is an offensive-oriented coach who has assembled offenses in the past that work.
I'm optimistic that the draft will be one that everyone might agree with instead of the WTF we usually have with the 19 year term of King Coach T. The off-season moves have been filling needs and upgrades instead of reaching for whatever will fit.
I bet they drag his ass out for draft analysis. Can't wait.

Do you think Kenyon Sadiq is worth a trade up. I know, I know we don't need a TE in the 1st, but this kid is a freak of nature kinda like Bowers (really wanted Steelers to trade up for him). Their WR room would be vastly upgraded. I believe McCarthy had Witten and used him alot.Steelafan77 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 05, 2026 5:49 pmExactly 95.

Obliteration Is Imminent
AI says
Mike McCarthy's draft history, spanning his time with the Green Bay Packers (2006–2018) and Dallas Cowboys (2020–2024), is characterized by selecting foundational offensive talent and high-upside defensive players, often finding significant value in the second and third rounds. Key trends include drafting tall, productive wide receivers and athletic defenders early.
+4
Key Draft Selections (Packers Era)
A.J. Hawk (2006, Round 1): First pick, a steady defensive cornerstone.
Greg Jennings (2006, Round 2): Long-term, productive WR.
Jordy Nelson (2008, Round 2): Pro Bowl WR.
Randall Cobb (2011, Round 2):
Versatile playmaker.
Davante Adams (2014, Round 2): Elite wide receiver.
Jaire Alexander (2018, Round 1): Premier cornerback.
Key Draft Selections (Cowboys Era)
CeeDee Lamb (2020, Round 1): Elite WR and focal point of the offense.
Trevon Diggs (2020, Round 2): Ball-hawking cornerback.
Micah Parsons (2021, Round 1): Premier defensive force.
Tyler Smith (2022, Round 1): Key offensive line contributor.
DaRon Bland (2022, Round 5): High-value defensive playmaker.
Draft Tendencies & Philosophy
WR Preferences: McCarthy historically drafts receivers around 6-foot-1 or taller, looking for specific height/weight/speed metrics to fit his scheme.
Defense First: He has a history of addressing secondary needs early with high-round cornerbacks.
Draft Room Role: While not the ultimate decision-maker, his input has strongly influenced picks that align with his tactical needs, particularly in selecting players capable of immediate impact.

The only real TE need in what I've read were the doncos, chefs, cheats, aints, maybe Philly.gojira5150 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2026 3:32 pmDo you think Kenyon Sadiq is worth a trade up. That said, you could add a dark horse team like the Steelers to draft an exceptional athletic freak talent.
I think Sadiq will be gone and if he is there at 21 I hope Steelers go in a different direction.

Really can't see or believe they will draft a TE @21
I don’t see that in the cards at all. Like 0.00% chance they draft a TE in round1. Not with Muth and Washington on roster.
Need a WR, OG, S much much more. That’s where they go.

IF he's there why not take an Elite talent super freak athlete. We don't have any of these on Offense. If McCarthy starts attacking the MOF, a TE like Sadiq will feast against LB's as he's too fast for them and too big for CB's & Safeties as Bowers does.
If Sadiq goes to the Rats, we (SF posters) will be pissed as we had a chance to jump up and get him,
Steelers took Brod when Christian Gonzalez was still on the board cause we needed a LT. Can you imagine Gonzalez & JPJ as our CB's for years to come.

I could see them trading Freiermuth in a package deal And moving up to select Sadiq
Freiermuth and Highsmith are both strong trade candidates, imo

This is where I’m at also.
The lack of use last year for Muuuuth was/is concerning. Of Rogers comes back I feel like it’s an even bigger possibility he’s dealt.
