Berry always hits big punts when there is no pressure. That's why he sucks.

Our only playmaker of defense ends up crippled on a routine tackle.

This defense never came close to recovering from that.

Our defense sucked with Shazier, too. They were just fortunate to get to play every backup and journeyman QB in the league last year.

The defense might have sucked, but Shazier made PLENTY of plays to help us win games.

We weren't giving up over 40 points routinely to Blake Bortles and second year QB's starting their second game ever.

The real sad part? They did nothing to improve it in the offseason.

You know I'm not lying. Think about it. He sat up under a defensive genius in Dick Lebeau for some umpteen years as LB coach while being paid as a DC. He was gift-wrapped a DC job when Lebeau was ran outta town. He has 5 1st round picks on his D, key FA accquistions not to mention more top 3 round draft picks and you can't stop a rookie making his 2nd NFL start? My God Man! He went 23/28 against you for 6TD!!! You can't take away his 1st read from him for the game? Matt Thomas (your fastest, most athletic, linebacker not named Shazier and who's faster than your starting safeties) can't see the field to match up w/ an athletic TE or one of the speedsters? They spread you out all day and you rarely blitz the rook? Dupree continues to disappoint but Thomas can't spell him at all? If Ola is injured can't you scour the wire to see if there is at least a situational pass rusher that can help you out?

You've had 2-3 offseasons including training camps, mini-camps, rookie camps, etc and you're still having communication issues?? How can Cam Sutton look worse than last year? How can Artie Burns barely develop? How can your D actually look worse than last year instead of it looking more dominate than last season?

Butler is the common denominator in this fiasco, along with Tomlin, and things need to change if this season has any hope of being salvaged.
I say, he doesn't know how to call a D. Look at what Wade Phillips has done in a little over a year w/ the Rams vs almost 3 yrs of Butler here. Absolutely pathetic and dishonorable to the profession.

Oh I’m not disagreeing with anything you say, except that I doubt that Matt Thomas is any kind of savior. I was just loving the “eating paste and playing/w blocks line”...so appropriate.
The communication issues have been going on for years...but Bradley was going to fix that. Right!
Sad as to what passes for defense in Pittsburgh these days...but man we can chest bump, and our TD celebrations are the best I tell ya...the best!!!

I know that we'ren't disagreeing with me Jobus that was just southern emphasis. I mentioned Matt Thomas as someone you could at least throw out there to stop the arterial bleeding that was happening by the D being gashed time and time again. Apparently they built a D around him by all accounts called the Dollar. Yet all I see out there is a plugged nickel. He has big and has the one thing you can teach which is speed. He runs a 4.3.

But he’s about as raw as they come, and one player wasn’t going to stop what was going on today. It wasn’t just that Mahomes was awesome, the KC play calling and design was flawless. Their receivers were running wide open...they were playing pitch and catch.
It was a perfect game plan, executed without error. Mahomes rarely needed to come off his first read. Then throw in the Steelers Keystone Cops method of defense...and here we are.

I agree about him being raw but the non-raw established vets were consistently being beat. TE up the seam seemed to be Mahomes 1st read on almost ever play and it was open because no one could stay with Kelce. Yes the other guys sucked too but nothing was killing us as much as the TE today. Bostic and Williams weren't able to get the job done. Just a glaring weakness that has not been addressed along with many others. I definitely agree w/ the playcalling and design by KC. They continued to attack the weakness of the Steelers D which was all over the field.

We protected this guy for years while LeBeau made two or three final laps around the track. There has to be aomething to him im not seeing. Right now he looks like the second coming of Tim Lewis.

Doc, I didn't think of that but you're right as rain.
