Oh this has happened before.

2018 against San Diego. Three starting OL out and I think they started two that were in street clothes the week prior. We lost that game and missed the playoffs that year.

The one thing I am not sure about...there does seem to be an awful amount of holding. Makes it a bit easier to be able to run if you can hold linemen.

Your argument ignores how bad they have been at short yardage all season long AND has the benefit of seeing that the defense ended up shitting the bed on the next possession. If they were stopped on 4th, you'd be calling Tomlin a retard for going for it. I can see bashing the call to punt from the 38. I think this punt was defensible in context.

I've always advocated going for it harder than anyone else on this board and I have never criticized Tomlin's aggressiveness because he's *never* been over-aggressive.
Does the surrender index account for how shitty an offense is in short yardage? That has to factor in, as does the fact that the defense was really starting to look hot at the time.

I take back what I said about your position if you've been consistent. Personally I think either going for it or punting would have been understandable.

Ben's on the last year of his contract next year - no reason to keep him happy. Overhaul this offense.
