Last time I did that shit was 15 years ago, and I blew out a hammy on the first play. Of course, was playing with guys from work. I was 44 at the time; next oldest was 29.

So...who gives a fuck about the hairline, B2B's out there walkin' the walk.

Would love to see B2B and Fan of Steel in a foot race.

Agree on pretty much every point, Swiss, except the no-potted-plant pledge. Ben makes his coaching staff look like Vince freakin’ Lombardi, and suddenly the potted plant is not a potted plant. But, it is very courteous of you. So there’s that. Go Jets. Go Broncos. And as always…best wishes for Tom Brady to break a leg.

Funny thing is, they brought the cake, sand happy birthday....NONE of us had asked them to.....but then they put it on the bill, right?

Just to be clear, Quixotic....it's not a pledge, but rather a commitment to hold the potted plant references in abeyance for the week. Hopefully, the moratorium will continue next week as well.

My 40 is still okay but I'm clearly winning on savvy and smarts these days-- few quicks but the best hands in any game I'm in for years. My heart is mostly in playing D-- still playing pretty good CB though. Have had really good season so far but I barely missed the highlight of this decade last Sunday-- I was on O, lined up all the way wide left-- pass was a deep bomb on the right. When the QB cocked his arm to throw, I broke off my route and took off towards the ball because I'm always thinking: "What would Franco Do?"... Good things happen when you go to the football. Anyway, the ball was tipped away and came right towards me-- an agonizing inch or two short. If I had come from the far side on a play where I was the decoy and caught a tipped bomb on the far right side 40+ yards downfield at age 50 going on 51, I might have had to retire on that note.

Cool. But pledge is alliterative with potted and plant. Worth blurring the lines of meaning for the sake of the poetry, in my opinion. Anyway, stick to your convictions, Swiss. All good. Later daze, my brother.

Id rather he play DB, bigger need right now, or based on his earlier RZ analysis, maybe throw him out there as a RZ option. Probably plays DB cuz he has no hands though. :o

I think I have mentioned it here before-- but none of the young guys can play defense. The idea of defending as a team rather than 1 on 1 is completely lost on young dudes, especially the safeties and CBs with deep responsibilities.

So, I'm valuable on D because I understand the calculus of the LeBeau D. My hands are too good to be a CB on this team (although, don't look now.. two pick 6's and 3 INTs in three weeks).

We tailgated a few years back when the Steelers and Dolphins opened the season following the SB XL. I think Swiss has pictures. I remember Ron being there for a bit as well. ChiTraderRob and a few others. Also went to Pittsburgh for XL with a large contingent of posters and had a blast I have a load of pics from that.

So why doesn't someone start organzing something...id b down for a game pretty much anytime...I have some buddies going down for the ravens game...gonna see if theres another ticket floating around maybe.

I am faster at age 52 (next Saturday) than Heath Miller.

BTW Steelafan77 is a buddy for life for his comment earlier in this thread. Thanks buddy!

Here's the photo from the '06 tailgate which I wish I was at:

Here's one from last year's Foxboro debacle tailgate:

Wish I had presence of mind to take a pic at Roggie's two years ago with the old hags who gave Swiss and me pizza.

The bar section had plenty of people. We were on the other side of the place. Also, Pats game was at 1pm.

Probably won't happen but if that shirt ever gets recreated! I'm buying two of those! Still kicking myself for not snagging one!

Fuck, I should probably just have one made.

Fucking excellent shirt man. Still my favorite is you wearing that shit in the stands at Foxboro! Fucking awesome!

I echo this sentiment. Why not? Most of us have been around the boards a long long time. I'd share beers and stories with almost off of you!

I'll be at the Bengals game this year. My second and last game of the year in person.

just a few thoughts of mine to get the annual steelerfury tailgate / game going:

1. Would like to start this next season. Won't work out for me this season but don't let that stop you.

2. We pick a game the week after the schedule comes out in the spring.

3. A poster or two who lives in the greater Pittsburgh area arranges when and where the tailgate is.

Also, we should make it a Sunday 1 or 4:30PM game. I could deal with an SNF game but not crazy about it. No MNF or TNF please.

The whole planning and logistics part of it might make next season more sensible. Whatever, this year or next, sounds good.

My SBI this week is easy. Steelers beat the rats. bunguls lose and the stains lose. Simple. :)

Swiss, thanks for the SBI each week............always dead on. And now I can put a face to your phrases and laugh along with some of the things you say..........Good to see you, JL58 and B2B get together...thanks for the pics.........
77.............the funny and ironic thing about what you said above..........
is that B2b and I met out at Latrobe a few years back.............and my first impression was that he was half Michael Stipe from R.E.M. and half John Malkovich...............

I know some of the things i would do immediatly after hitting the megamillions...........spending a few months on a monster yacht traveling down the east coast, then hoping island to island in the carribean and then travel up the left coast with close freinds and family..................
but always thought it would be cool to get tickets and airfare to a bunch of Fury faithful....and have a monster tailgate party..........
