I'm ok with Mason starting but if things go really bad for him, I'm ready for Howard to jump on a moving train.

I don't see any harm in letting Howard play a series or two, especially in a blow out in either direction.

Make Da Bears prep for 3 QB's. :D

Secure NHALS early and then go deep into the PLAYOFFS. :D :D :D

Being his off hand, it depends on how painful it is. Possibly not much. If he can take a snap and grip the ball ok, and hand it off without a lot of pain....he'll play sooner than later. Pain probably tolerable and will depend on grip strength (especially for Turnover Taboo Tomlin)

I had a hairline fracture in my thumb/wrist way back. Initial x-ray was negative, and I went back to taping it up and lifting weights not knowing it was broken.

So who knows how long Rodgers might be out. One thing for sure - Tomlin will play the game to his advantage. Keeps medicore DCs off-balance, and steal a game with Rudolph. Play rope-a-dope with some good defense and turnovers with a big play or two from Rudolph and that's stealing another win.

I think we roll into Wk17 against BAL with the division, NHALS and playoffs on the line. That game is going to be Tomlin's magnum opus.

Rodgers doesn't have to prove how tough he is at this point in his career. He's accomplished that plenty of times.

Most important thing for him is to be healthy enough to lead a playoff charge.

Did you ever doubt it would be like this once the schedule was announced? The NFL wants it's drama

Rodgers hasn't looked right for the past three weeks—not since it was reported he hurt his finger during warmups for the Indianapolis game. Now that he's clearly injured, it's hard to justify running him out there.

Mason looked great this past Sunday, so it makes sense to continue letting him work.
Here's what I'm afraid of...that Tomlin will let Rodgers himself make the call, even if his performance is compromised. Put Mason under center this week.

So, do you think the Steelers will waive him in time for him to sign with a contender?

I think Ravens will have wrapped the division by then and might sit guys. The first matchup with Baltimore is the one that should have its own NFL primetime spotlight.

Playoff charge

Some people here still think it's 2010. I doubt this team as constructed and under Tomlin makes a playoff charge if you put prime Rodgers back there, let alone current-day geriatric, afraid of being hit, throw the ball in 1.5 seconds Rodgers.

I'm keeping the faith. Pittsburgh has a one game lead on the Ravens and the Steelers still play them two times. Rodgers can maximize his impact for the team by being at full strength for one or both of those games. Just in case Rudolph looks more like the 2024 version after extended playing time than the 2023 version.

To me there is no reason for him to force himself into the games. Not with Mason on the roster. I would like to see Rodgers stay active as the primary backup though until he is fully ready, and leave Will Howard as the emergency #3.
