I think there's a good chance Tomlin steps away after this season

Well, I think it's the only way we rid ourselves of him.

He'll leave on 'his terms' and everyone will laud 'his legacy'.

The most consistent coach in history at keeping a team slightly above average.

They'll permanently rename 9-8 as "The Tomlin Line"

No one likes the sound of that more than Michael Pettaway Tomlin

I've always felt like James Franklin and Tomlin were so similar. This is exactly how the year went for Franklin until the noise and booing got so bad that a change had to be made. I don't think they will fire him in season, but I will be surprised if this isn't Tomlins last season with the Steelers. Its becoming inevitable.

A little less experienced than some on here, but the last time the firing chants were this loud was the "Joe Must Go" ones at the end of the Noll Era, right? Imagine having that on your resume trying to make a HoF. Equally or less popular in Pittsburgh than Joe Walton.

I absolutely hate when people try to interpret others body language - in sports, politics, etc. But, I am going to do it anyway. Tomlin looks different to me. Defeated. The usual (false) swagger is just not there, even in press conferences. He seems checked out and distant. He's lost the team and knows it. He has zero answers and knows it. I think he's done after this year and will walk away no matter what happens with the rest of the season.

Like Cowher during games in 2006.

“That’s just pride fuckin with you.”

Tomlin won’t walk away, resign or retire.

Way too prideful

If anything Rooney will promote him.

Announce a move to the front office

Once upon a time pontificated by B2B, Tomlin could one day be calling ALL the shots for your once beloved Pittsburgh Steelers

THAT would SUCK
Nah, I disagree. Even the Rooney's (by the end of this season especially) will understand a change has to be made.

Tomlin I agree, has a huge ego. The entire crowd at Acrisure Stadium chanting "FIRE MIKE TOMLIN" isn't helping Mike Tomlin's pride.

Coach Cool Shades, in a word, is fucked. Sure, he can hang on for 2 more years and get his money. We all know how that will turn out.

It'll be a disaster. This team is getting worse. Watt isn't washed, but he's clearly lost a step (maybe 2.) Heyward is washed. The young d-linemen either suck, or they aren't being put in a situation to succeed and do you think Mike Tomlin will fix that? I don't. Highsmith shows up 2 or 3 games per year. We have major problems both at corner and safety. I don't need to tell you how bad things are offensively.

Mike Tomlin isn't fixing any of this shit and neither is a first round QB. Ben Roethlisberger walked into a ready made situation for him to succeed. A first round QB walking into what Cool Shades has built is gonna look just like....wait for it....Kenny Pickett.

Tomlin sticks around and he seriously might coach his way out of the Hall of Fame.

Also, as others have been saying, The Steelers would NEVER owe Mike Tomlin anything close to $40 million because if they fire him, he'll get another job for big money and they'll be paying him pennies on the dollar, if anything.

Nah, we're at the end of Mike Tomlin era in Pittsburgh. Either he'll step away and take a few years off to reset, or he'll be fired/traded.

He will not be the Pittsburgh Steelers head coach in 2026.
Of course he will be.
I said it last week. By Hook or by crook

He will not be

He was checked out completely that season. He shot his load with SBXL and was spent. I’m starting to see Tomlin care less and less. Now that the media and podcasts are questioning if a change of scenery would be beneficial for both parties…. I think the decade old nightmare is coming to a close.

That last press conference with Tomlin was a massive joke. Not one tough question was thrown at him after that debacle. Yea, the guy isn't going to answer it anyway, but the time for business as usual is over. The media just wants to act like it's 2015 and they can run the same milquetoast stories to keep their access and the fans will eat it up.

Also note that Porter and Tomlin were buddies. Their sons went to the same school. That's how Porter got his OLB coaching job and helped us win the playoff game vs Cincy haha

I'm sure Tomlin is a great guy (the frauds always are, because it's harder to call out the nice guy). Make no mistake, Tomlin understands that - why he's so buddy-buddy with the stars including having dinner out. Why he signs guys brothers. and now sons....

Why would you rather work out at the Y than at a nice golf course?
