Groundhogs day again.
Connor getting almost every carry, besides Switzer 1, was Tomlin giving Bell a fuck you, but it just fucked himself. Connor looked like he was running in place most of the second half. I am actually happy they didn't lose, 6 turnovers is insane. This team always starts slow no matter if it's Tomlin or Cowher.
Next week they will blow out the Chiefs while the Browns get blown out by the Saints. Fast forward to January and the Steelers lose to another inferior team.

thanks for reminding me.....I think I did predict the Steelers, with or without Bell, would inevitably start the year 1-1 [actually, 3-1 I think]

Groundhog Day for me was:
Burns losing his mind and being on the field one play later
WTF does Tomlin actually do?
Wasn’t that a, God forbid, “coaching moment?”

Now we know it wasn't Haley that rode Bell. I've said many times here, Haley was criticized in KC for not giving Charles the ball enough. It wasn't his decision to not mix up backs. He proved today he likes to use multiple backs with Duke and Hyde.

Don't count on it. This Chiefs team is going to come in and sling it all over the place. Hill can stretch the field big time. It will take our best effort to win and there was ZERO I saw today to think that is coming so soon.

Maybe the only reason he came off the field for one play was the rule.
Take your helmet off, need to sit one play.

Yeah. Chiefs have put up 24 thru 3 1/2 quarters on road to team that some pick to go far.

My point is “isn’t that a moment to talk to a player?”

Chefs are destroying the bolts right now. Maholmes looks like the real deal today. Just threw a rope for a score to make it 31-12 in LA.
Did you get a good look at what happened? Had it occurred to you that jarvis landry was being a dick, held him, and pancaked him after the play was over? Would that be cool?BarryFoster wrote:Stosh-67 wrote:BarryFoster wrote:Groundhog Day for me was:

But I wonder and question the default : blame steelers players every time because I hate tomlin.

It speaks to the undisciplined nature of Tomlin teams
After the Watt sack it was 2nd and long from the 3 and Hargraves got called for defensive holding.
If that wasn’t bad enough, Burns loses it right after.
If I’m HC, I pull him over and “coach him up.”
Call me crazy.
Just curious, what do you think BB would have done there?

Who care's what BB would have done.
We all loved it when Lambert put the dallas player on his head. That was out of line. But we thought it was great.
Maybe Burns combative nature is good. If tomlin would have reprimanded him, how do you know it might have castrated him and made his play tentative? He wants aggressive play. Burns did that.
Taking his helmet off, however, was a no no. I also don't know if Tomlin told him so.
Do you?

The Lambert play was a different time, a different game. He does that under today’s rules, he’s suspended for multiple games.
Allowing yourself to be baited into a penalty is a no no. Did/will Tomlin address it? I don’t know...but I’ll be willing to bet we will see something similar from some Steelers players several times again this season.

I think it was a team effort today Barry. That said, I take nothing away from Tomlin and his ho hum approach in the preseason benching guys with very little game time Gel. That falls directly on him. In game decisions today, is split between Tomlin, his staff and Ben.
I'm not apologizing for Tomlin. Dude fucks up. Just like everybody else.BarryFoster wrote:Tomlin apologists gonna Tomlin apologize
I'm just highlighting the fact that we have no clue as to what tomlin tells his players. Or when.
But it makes everyone feel better when we can say we're smarter than the head coach.
Brownies and Haley went after sutton when Haden went out. Imagine a series or two without your starting cornerback because he needs to be disciplined for being aggressive and standing up for himself. Then the steelers fanbase would be shitting on sutton or whoever replaced Burns for giving up a TD.

I'm only suggesting that the expectation that steelers players lose their cool more so than a league average might be misplaced.Jobus Rum wrote:Who cares what a dozen other players from other teams will do?

Absolutely. My point being, He came off for a rule and not to talk to a coach.

Maybe...but that’s not my point. My point is that if the head coach addresses these lack of discipline plays, when they should be, then most likely he doesn’t need to address them during the game.
Lack of discipline is lack of discipline. Just because “everyone does it” doesn’t make it OK.

I agree.
I’m not sure people realize how close we came to losing this in regulation.
Recall that on the tying TD the Browns attacked Sutton, who had come in for an injured Haden, repeatedly with Josh Gordon.
Sutton did get the INT that took it to OT...however, he had been birned by Gordon again. Tyrod Taylor simply underthrew the ball.
A better QB won’t do that so much.

C’mon Jeemie...Taylor certainly underthrew the ball, and Gordon certainly has a good chance of winning on a better pass, but Sutton wasn’t burnt on that play. It was pretty much text book coverage.

This is pro ball. Doesn’t matter what the other guy did. Being a dick or not.
What matters is what you decide to do. And our dummy decided to have a dick measuring contest with the WR and cost us a 1st down and a bunch of yards.
But hey, Artie sure showed him right?
Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 85 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.

How about AB deciding it was smart to go start barking at Todd Haley on the browns sideline was that a time to maybe coach a player up?
