Steelers sign RB Kalen Ballage to a one year deal. They also officially announce the signing of OL Rashaad Coward. He got a one year deal as well.][/quote]

They are probably both for league minimum.

Kalen Ballage: the Dwayne Haskins of RBs.

Theoretically, Ballage is a Lev Bell style bigger back with pass fame skills. Emphasis on theoretical, as far as his NFL career has gone.

There were some SF draftniks high on Ballage when he came out, if I recall, but yeah, it's another hole filler before the draft at this point. Don't think any of these signings impact anything the team will do 4/29-31.

He can be both bad AND easily the best RB on our roster.

Benny Snell that could catch and had non-zero straight line speed would still be a bad football player, but when the alternative is Benny Snell...

Normally I’d wave this off as nothing more than camp bodies. But with where this roster currently sits.., who knows?

We have certainly fallen mightily here.

This is the FA running back they bring in? I get he’s cheap, but Jesus he’s been terrible. Was pretty good at ASU but hasn’t made the leap.

I know this: If we ever decide to run the Wildcat, Ballage is the guy I want running it.

8 fucking TD's against a Patrick Mahomes led Texas Tech team?

6, I believe, came from the Wildcat.

Texas Tech was statistically the 2nd worst defense in college football that year. They allowed just under 550 yards/game and over 43 points/game. They were terrible.

A garbage Iowa State team dropped 66 on Texas Tech that season.

Hi

All 3 signing I can see being cut before the final Rosters are set.
Ballage was thought as a good player coming out of ASU but never turned the corner.

One of my more consistent bitches with the Steelers.....is they do little to upgrade roster spots and waste $$ at the same time......

The Steelers now have 6 very lousy RBs on the roster ......and presumably they are gonna draft another early.......so...thats 7 with at best 5 roster spots...

And again as i have said before.....adding just one legit RB wont in any way be enough to make it through a 19/20 game season

The Steelers are fast becoming a joke franchise imo

Fair enough, but Benny Snell would struggle to score 8 TD's against a Pop Warner team with 80% of its squad in COVID protocol.

Ballage does absolutely NOTHING to upgrade the RB position, so make of that what you will.

I want to see the guy run first, in camp.

I don't expect him to be Barry Sanders, but fucking Stephen Hawking could upgrade Benny Snell.

If you were hoping they’d sign a less athletic version of Benny Snell, today is a glorious day!

Wasn't FC all over this guy in the draft. Swore he was going to be the best RB in the class, I think. At least, I think it was him.

If so, hey, at least he took a big 'ol giant swing at it -- more than most are willing to do.

Imagine signing Fournette last year, holding on to Conner (maybe, for the right price) and then drafting a stud in this draft. How would that not be light years better than the RB's we currently have on the roster? Maybe McFarland gets a pass and turns into something with a new OC but geezus...what were they smoking last year?? Bottom 5 RB rooms in the entire league.
I never thought they'd suddenly forget what a good RB looks like but they DID. IF Snell is our starter next year, I'm going to rally the people with torches and pitchforks!

To me .......the worst part is .......the Steelers seem intent......that Snell Samuels McFarland Ballage......will have AT LEAST 3 roster spots among them.......suppose by some miracle Najee does drop......even he simply isnt enough over what is now a 20/21 game season.....Etienne Williams Stevenson ......by themselves wont be enough either.

The Steelers REALLY need to land AT LEAST 2 good RBs in order for that unit to make a notable difference
