Outside chance we play Drew Lock and Geno Smith next two weeks at home

Post by rooneytunes » Fri Oct 08, 2021 5:54 am

Bridgewater looks like he has a chance to play this week. Also, Wilson is a baller and will do everything he can I am sure to get back for next Sunday night after hurting middle finger on throwing hand tonight.

BUT......... if it is Drew Lock and Geno Smith the next two weeks at home. That is a better than average chance to get to 3-3 before the bye.

If we play both of them and Tomlin/Ben can't win both of these?...........well then blow the whole thing up

Do you recall what happens when we play backups??? They generally have multi-million dollar days. I can see Drew lock turning into Tim Tebow and Geno Smith turning into David Gerrard. Terrifying shit as far as I'm concerned.

well the denver game is for the season, if we lost that one season is over. I think theres a good chance wilson starts since he have lots of time to heal and rehab (and also their season is on the brink with ariz/lar playing goodl)

I’m not sure how the outcomes of those games would matter.

It’s not like we have an aging team and we’re trying to decide whether to hold on to them for one more year; pretty much just ben and i think there’s consensus that era ends in december at latest.

If we win those two games, we have an outside shot of finishing the season near 0.500 before entering our next Dark Age. Yay? If we don’t, pretty much same.

No one on here is going to change their opinion about tomlin no matter how things go from here.

Folks, I'm coming to you in all seriousness on this one. We're going to start Ben on Sunday. If he plays like he has for the past 12 or so games, we are either going to lose the game, or win by the thinnest of margins. We don't have the luxury of throwing anymore games like this away. If he stinks it up again, we have got to put Mason Rudolph in and attempt to salvage this season. For the love of God Stiller's fans, can you not see this???

This is possible. if they can somehow give Ben the same time it would take me to pick apart those defenses, we could win those games. I can still throw a football 50 yards. Ben can too I'm sure.

News here in Seattle is that I could be an 8-12 week thing for Wilson. Maybe no surgery but have to keep it in a splint for it to heal.

Depends. All of those QB's are light years ahead of Ben at this juncture. If Ben starts, 1-6. If Rudolph starts, 4-3. The wins are proportionate to the number of games Rudolph starts.

If we are asking whether Geno Smith can beat the Steelers…absolutely.

Make no mistake, the 2021 Steelers are fucking terrible. Awful football club.

What we see is that Mason stinks. Is he better than Ben at this point? Not sure. But you keep painting him as some kind of savior, and he's not.

All I can go off is the last game I saw him play vs the last game I saw Ben play.

Ben had plenty of time vs the Packers.

Did you miss the game?

Got news for ya.

It'd be really difficult for ANYBODY to be worse than Ben Roethlisberger is now. He's WASHED.

Also, Rudolph was not playing badly prior to the Earl Thomas cheap shot. After that, Mason looked like Ben does now. Mason played scared shitless.

Last season Rudolph got his confidence back and it showed. Small sample size? Sure, but he played well when he got the chance. End of story.

Also, Rudolph played well in the preseason. Moved the team up and down the field. Had trouble finishing drives but little of that was his fault. Penalties and drops had a ton to do with those drives not turning into TD's.

Hey, Dumblin is going to ride Ben because Dumblin has no answers and he's praying deep down Ben gets the magic back.....spoiler alert HE WON'T.

Sad but true I think.
Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 85 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.

Off topic. At a restaurant and they are showing a replay of Pats-Bucs. And seeing AB still playing well after all he’s done.

Only a couple things players can’t get away with.
-killing someone.
-hitting a woman on camera.
-being bad at football.

The guy had a chance to go down as the second greatest WR in the history of the NFL.

All he had to do was act like a normal human being and he fucked it up.

That said, nobody should be surprised one of the all time great WR's is still playing well.

He was one of the most exciting players in history. Sad what he turned into.

Yep, Ryan Clark said AB was an asshole before he got paid and was much worse after he got the big contract.

Just sad because he was an absolutely unbelievable talent. Even on a team that once has Swann, Stallworth and Ward, AB is arguably the best Steelers receiver in history.

I checked Broncos boards. First sent I read - VON will feast on the statue that is Ben Roethlisberger.

My major concern also has to do with QB, but not who is playing QB for our opponent.

...and the problem is, Ben will go into this game scared shitless, which is something he never used to be. Ben, even just a few years ago, was fearless. That element of his game is now long gone.

Ben plays scared now and nobody can blame him. Dude is almost 40 and he can't shrug off pass rushers anymore. Those hits HURT now. Big time.

Even worse than Ben's physical decline is his mental decline. He goes into games now expecting to get the living shit knocked out of him and plays like it.

It's silly Tomlin is leaving him in there to embarrass himself this late in his career. I understood bringing him back for a farewell tour, but like I said before this season started....this farewell tour just might not go as Ben and Tomlin had planned it.
