How many more years until the next Steelers playoff win?

Post by TimmayLake » Mon Jan 13, 2025 1:25 pm

Realistically it won't happen for a good 2-3 years AFTER Tomlin leaves, so likely the earliest playoff win will happen in 2030, maybe 2031? By then it will have been close to 15 years since a playoff win?

The standard is the standard?

The Steelers appear to be irrelevant and will languish at the bottom of the AFCN for the foreseeable future.

I disagree. If he leaves I bet we are in the playoffs the inaugural season.

I think we have some rough cut gems on the roster and if you bring someone in with new message and schemes it will all flow. Plus you can make a lot of moves in the offseason.

It wouldn’t take much. Miracles can happen when you let people breathe, have actual responsibilities and be creative!

Making the playoffs is one thing (Mikey T can do that). Winning a playoff game is a whole other mountain.

What is Coach Mike doesn't want to make the playoffs?

We're assuming the next coach will be a playoff-caliber coach.

To be 100% clear, that does not mean we should be scared to move on from Tomlin.

But, I'm also wondering what the next coaching search is going to look like.

What if the directive to play caveman football actually does come from the very top and we end up hiring some Arthur Smith clone to be the next head coach for the next 15 years?

The caveman moniker gets thrown around quite a bit here, but we just got thrashed by caveman football on Saturday.

The league still operates on 50/50 mix of run/pass.

We don’t have caveman football schemes we have JV caveman. If only.

The next coaching search frightens me too, but hopefully there is a secret vault with HR instructions for the ideal candidate that still works.

We need a force multiplier candidate and not a manager candidate.

An ideal candidate is a head coach factory or coordinator factory…that is the force multiplier effect.
