What the future could have looked like if Rooney was sober
I guarantee this dumb org is going to hire a clone of Jibba Jabber as their next coach then wonder for 15 years why they haven't won shit still.
Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 88 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.
And another thing. Philly fans, fresh off a SB win, don't hold back and boo their team when it performs poorly.
Meanwhile over in Pittsburgh, the owners say we are spoiled because they used to be good and we should be satisfied with that.
And many dumb yinzers are.

Good God. What an imbecile. That is steroid version of Tomlin tweaking his players’ emotions to get wins early on in his career. Once it wears off you are left with process, scheme and actual coaching.
Chicago will get a bump from that charade that will last about one game!

You’re right, having a fucking dope run an offense like it’s the 1960s is better
My bad
It's a bit OTT. He's got them believing. They smashed Philly in the mouth, ran right over them on their home field. He's turned Caleb Williams into a real QB, at least so far. He's got great touch and is a smart player.
What would he have done with Kenny...tell him that he would have figured it out? Be yourself.
I didn't see them waiting for turnovers to fall in their laps.
I'm pulling for Da Bears.

Sorry. Wasn’t impressed when he beat us. Have heard the same things said about Stefanski and Zac Taylor; all they have done is founder the last 1/2 decade too.Jizz Mop wrote: ↑Sat Nov 29, 2025 1:07 amYeah, idiotic offensive mindLakecrestSteeler wrote: ↑Sat Nov 29, 2025 1:02 amGood God. I haven’t seen too many WWF types up at the podium getting a championship trophy in any of the major sports. We should take our chances with an out of the blue non-WWF type with actual football coaching chops on both sides of the ball.

Bears went 5-12 last year and are now 9-3 with largely the same roster, just a new coaching staff. Caleb Williams went from looking like a bust to a franchise QB. That’s all Ben Johnson. He’s not just some rah rah guy, look at the offense he put together in Detroit. They are noticeably worse this year without him. Rooney had a chance to trade Tomlin to Chicago for a couple 1st round picks and hire Ben Johnson himself.

Would be fun to be a Bears fan right now. You know that fan base is eating this up.

Throw. The. Football. On. First. Down.
NFL has had many one year wonders at all levels so I'm not going to crown Johnson, but it's dumb to me to question his ability to have sustained success because he celebrated a win that way.
The main point is that the notion that Tomlin is irreplacable because the next guy could be worse has always been dumb.
Maybe the next coach doesn't last 15 seasons. Tomlin shouldn't have to be blunt. None of that means that the hire couldn't be the right guy for a specific moment in time. The right guy to steer the ship to a Super Bowl which you could argue Tomlin was at one point. Put Ben Johnson in charge of the killer B Steelers and they probably get a ring even if he imploded and failed down the line. That trade is worth it to me personally.
And the argument that you don't fire Tomlin because the replacement could suck is so fucking cowardly to begin with. That Art II seems to subscribe to it just tells me that he doesn't trust his own judgement or the processes that are in place. If you are an owner who knows what the fuck you are doing and has good people in the organization, you don't dread having to engage in that process out of fear you could do worse.
It's a sign that your organization is broken.

A move like this WOULD HAVE rejuvenated a close to dead organization.Rooney had a chance to trade Tomlin to Chicago for a couple 1st round picks and hire Ben Johnson himself.
WOULD have been a homerun move just to swap out Tomlin for Johnson, but to throw in major draft capital to find the next franchise qb???
C'mon
How do you NOT make that move (Rhetorical. We know the answer).
Uncle Junior once gave Tony some advice on being a leader, "That's what being a boss is. You steer the ship the best way you know. Sometimes it's smooth. Sometimes you hit the rocks. In the meantime you find your pleasures where you can.”
Well
I doubt old man Rooney finds many pleasures (at least my kind of pleasures), but he sure has steered the ship into some rocks.
YOU SUCK, Art!
Go Bills!
Go Skenes!!

Seeing Tomlin like that would be scary. I'm thankful that Tomlin is even keeled. But I do wish he would be a little more animated at times. Cowher would get all fired up at times too. In the end you have to be yourself.
Steelers will beat the Bills and retain the AFC North lead. I'm not impressed with the Rats.

Are you thankful that he also an X’s and O’s moron?I'm thankful that Tomlin is even keeled.
Thankful that he’s a proven game day idiot?
Thankful he hardly has a clue in terms of plan A and never has a plan B?
This young coach might have been a bit more animated in that post game but he sure as shit is even keeled on the sidelines during the games and most likely during the game planning stage.
Meanwhile, Captain catch phrase only has the hot air that comes out of his mouth while our play sheet is tiny and possibly written in crayon.
You Tomlin fluffers sure are a dedicated bunch.

I wouldn't mind even keeled for Tomlin, kind of like Noll but there is one small problem. He hasn't won a playoff game since January 15th, 2017 some 3,234 days ago. Obama was still President for 5 more days, covid was 3 years away, Paul Skenes was 14 years old. Enough is enough already. Let's get to 9-8, maybe 10-7 and get boatraced in the playoffs again. Good times.
Wow, only 3,234 days ago? Only seems like 3,000 days.Stlcrtn1974 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 29, 2025 4:12 pmI wouldn't mind even keeled for Tomlin, kind of like Noll but there is one small problem. I have a feeling there is an offensive wizard with the Midas touch across the street at Pitt. I’d grab him for OC. He has performed miracles with offense everywhere he goes. And grab someone that is good with QBs and rebuilding scouting departments for HC. Not sure who DC should be, but there has to be some geniuses out there. That may be where you get the WWF type guy.
Offensive wizards with the Midas touch …
Saying Ben Johnson is a WWF style coach that has no offensive coaching talent and is getting lucky …. Well …. You are giving yourself away.
Did you not like Cowher ?
It’s fine to argue in favor of Tomlin or Rooney … but try and keep it logical or at least sane.
I ran a few of the comments we get around here on that topic through the AI checker ,,,, guess what ?

I will never be convinced Teflon could take a 5-12 team and turn it around in a season owning their division with playoff aspirations.

A few things.
I think ben johnson looked like a great hire.
But…he was picky about where he went. He returned to be a coordinator for another year despite being the top HC candidate on the market in 2024. I don’t have inside info, but i would guess he went to chicago because they offered a lot of money and they had lots of strong pieces already in place starting from an elite #1 overall QB prospect and also were in a bright cap situation to build moving forward. So, there are no parallel universes where Ben Johnson ended up here. Tell me there’s a timeline where we could be watching the Eberflus show in pittsburgh right now and i think i could believe that.
Second, acting jealous of the bears is ridiculous. We think playoff Ws have been laughably rare for us lately, bears have 1 in the past 20 years. They poke their nose over .500 once every five years or so, and this year could just be them staying on that schedule. We’ll see, not that it matters.

My overall point gets back to all the Tomlin nuthuggers who when hit with fact after fact about why Tomlin sucks, ask “who is out there to replace him with?”
Like he’s fucking Vince Lombardi
Johnson was there for the taking
Instead we remain tortured by the single most overrated HC in modern NFL history
