How Fury is evolving
How Fury is evolving
Why are there fan message boards? Well they exist to allow fans of a team to post about their team with other fans who may or may not share your same level of passion, both in a positive and negative manner.
How do I see things evolving here at Fury:
These boards used to be full of great posts like “how will they stop our offense” and “our D is on fire” etc etc
Now they serve more as a support group for most of us suffering through some of the most frustrating and nauseating time periods in recent history.
As we endure embarrassment after embarrassment, we come here to voice our displeasure, to vent and hope to let off some steam with the rest of us idiots.
It’s sad…but this current team, led by this insufferable dopey HC has totally broken my spirit as a fan.
I was talking with two close friends who are Steeler fans and we all agreed that we no longer look forward to watching them. We dread it. I know I do. And before you say “find another team” or some other stupid shit, I’m too loyal to just stop watching this dumpster fire.
In closing, I look forward to the future, where hope is restored with this franchise and we can once again, “in the collective” start posting positive posts about a team that looks and plays entirely different than this current version.

Once upon a time great poster, Suwanee88, recommended SteelerFury to me many years upon my arrival to Suwanee, GA. It was a lot to sift through at first trying to determine the good posters from the bad (lotta bad).
In the end, it was FC who was then the moderator and author of “The Gospel” that legitimized my visits here. Dude was an unreal wealth of football knowledge. To this day, his “Gospel” the best source of Steelers’ pregame I’ve ever read.
Now?
To Jizz’s point, Fury is a place to vent about all things NHALS, Tomlin, Deuce, SCAM, Low Watt (or TWatt as a couple of my buddies call him).
As fun as it is to be called a “Hater” when the Steelers WIN, it serves as a reminder of how far Tomlin has sunk my once beloved Steelers.
Excluding a few Tomlin ballwashers (gotta be bots), all the collective we can do is patiently wait for the day old man Rooney steps down and the organization resets.
I’m patience on a monument waiting for that to happen, until then I’ll share my frustrations and enjoy reading yours.

Nick Markakis on Astros: "Every guy over there needs a beating."
Here here- fully agree.
So many similarities between the Pens and Steelers. Both had stale ass coaches who are well past their expiry date. Is there something in the water in Pittsburgh where idiot ownership believes that it's cool to have long term coaches who bring nothing but mediocrity?
All coaches at the professional level get stale. This isn't HS or college where your message can get heard for maybe 5 years before those players age out. This is professional sports where players sometimes stay for 10 years. There needs to be newness in any relationship.
Fuck Tomlin. Fuck Rooney. Fuck TJ and fuck Cam.
This once beautiful franchise has allowed itself to be smeared with shit.

Bingo
2 seasons ago, was the first time I purposefully stopped watching a game, during the game.
Last season was the first time I intentionally chose not to watch a game at all
This season - I’m pretty close to shutting it down entirely, until Tomlin is gone
I’ve said before- watching Noll & Cowher’s teams go through bad games and rough seasons, you never really felt it was hopeless; that the game couldn’t be won. And even if they did win, it didn’t feel irrelevant because the team was never going to be able to win anything in the postseason.
I never felt that. I had faith in the coaches that they could develop and implement a game plan sufficient to give the team a chance against almost any opponent.
Irrespective of whether or not that opponent was more talented
With Tomlin as the head coach, I am clear that only extra extraordinary play or terrible performance by the opponent, leads to a win
With very few exceptions, Tom and victories do not occur because of his game plan and game strategy.
I would go so far as to say from a scheme and strategy standpoint the Steelers enter every game at a deficit
Every game
It appears we have finally reached the point where the majority of the fans, and even former and current players are recognizing this sad state of affairs
Living in Maryland, I always look forward to the games against Baltimore. Not this year.
I know multiple people that have stopped watching this team specifically because of how bad the coaching is
I am so close to that same point
Art has to go and Tomlin with him
I’m not completely against Keeping Kahn and Weidl in particular I would hold on to Weidl
This team needs to be gutted

Obviously, the Fire Tomlin chants mean many many circles had similar discussions.
Hope springs eternal.
Youth is the salve for the team's roster.
Just need to quit giving away generational players, to learn how to draft generational players, to actually draft a couple generational players, and one big new straw not named Tomlin to stir the drink!
A rocket armed, 4.4-40-yard speed, and an Nvidia or Apple silicon chipped brain in the noggin of a new young QB would be nice too!
He was an in-house nepotism hire. A guy who “put the time in” so it was his turn. Kind of like annointing the dullard Keith Butler DC simply because he waited under Lebeau.I’m not completely against Keeping Kahn
Khan knows how to run an excel spreadsheet. That’s it. He was an intern that managed the numbers. Something anyone with a bit of math and computer skills can do.

Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 88 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.
I'm of the opinion that Kahn is doing what he's told. He's a financial foot soldier, so to speak.955876 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 01, 2025 7:29 pmHe was an in-house nepotism hire. Weidl is essentially the "head scout" and identifies players that fit the mold of what Tomlin tells him they want
All of that is to say, I don't put this mess at their feet.
Could they have done a better job at getting a legit #2 receiver?? Absolutely
But let's be clear, they could have George Pickens opposite Metcalf, and we'd still watch the same bullshit offense.
Maybe Metcalf would be open a bit more, with coverage being occupied by a legitimate other option- but that wouldn't change the general lack of targets or the structure of the U shaped offense

Speaking of the U-shaped offense….
We had that “long” toss to Outlier for a game-high 26 yards.
I can’t recall how much of that 26 was YAC, but did anyone see that stat for the month of Nov that we didn’t have a single completion that traveled 20 yards or more in the air?
I mean wtf
Why don’t they just put on leather helmets and abort the passing game?

rogers and tomlin both said after the game that the U shaped offense isnt by design
!!! its because players arent producing in those spots

Watched most of the ESPN shows today, all of which led off with the Steelers. All saying among other things that the shame of this is that the Steelers were. "All in" for this year citing the off-season moves. I'm calling bullshit on that… All would not have. Included the away guy that's turning out to be the best receiver in football or a third round draft choice. I hated this trade when it happened hating it even more with each passing week
This place was great before and during the two Super Bowl runs and for several years after.
I still use the phrase "slop and slather" to this day.
I was a teenager when I found this board. Under my first user name, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, I trolled the Penguins and Pirates subsections, feuding with and decimating the fat ass slob who was a coffee boy for the Pirates (steelpro?) on his love for Neal Huntington and the retard simply known as steel on all things Penguins.
I left the football talk to guys like FC and Perch and all the great OGs, many of whom still post on this site. They knew more than I could even imagine. I feel like smiththesmokin was a 12 year old kid when he joined this site haha.
Now, in my late 30s, I check in more often than I have maybe in 10 or so years. Aaron rodgers signing was too hilarious to not get everyone's take on.
This place sucks compared to what it was then, and there might be many reasons for that, but I can't ignore the fact that the main reason is this head coach and the organization at large has sucked the lifeblood of enjoyment out of the fandom.
I really wish they weren't playing the same script over and over again.

We were all joyous stillers.com disviplrs during Super Bowl 40, that glorious time… The split ocurred the following fall: some of us, self included, stuck with stiller for a while.
A personal highlight is when me, my brother Tony, and Ed appeared on Steelers trivia challenge on channel 2 hosted by Bob pompeani. We simply weren't fast enough on the clicker.

Jizz, you've lost that winning feeling.
You're trying hard not to show it (Baby)
But baby, baby I know it
[Chorus]
You've lost that winning' feelin'
Whoa, that winning' feelin'
You've lost that winning' feelin'
Now it's gone, gone, gone, whoa-oh-oh-oh
[Verse 2]
Now there's no welcome look in your eyes
When I reach for you
And now you're starting to criticize
Little things I do
[Pre-Chorus]
It makes me just feel like crying (Baby)
'Cause, baby, something beautiful's dying

There was a person on another board, whose username was calmkiller. I read it as clamkiller
To Jizz’s point, message boards, have certainly gone downhill
The early 2000s were the pinnacle of messageboard communities
Social media hadn’t really become a thing yet, and people used message boards as an early form of social media. There certainly was a much greater sense of community. That aspect was readily identifiable based upon individual personalities on the various different Steelers message boards
There was a board that had a long-standing pinned thread that consisted of just funny shit. At one point, someone stumbled upon the website, Texts from last night. There were some hilarious moments in there.
Good times

Definitely a Gen X/Late Boomer thing. But with more autonomy being ceded to AI moderation without any due process, boards , or more likely something like it in spirit, may yet see a resurgence. I know I'm way more honest here than Facebook or X, and I don't have to pay a toll to avoid feeling like I'm drowning in bot replies or AI slop.anpsteel wrote: ↑Wed Dec 03, 2025 1:54 pm

As far as this specific board goes, I still very much enjoy the game thread and I always have the phone open at game time. It's the neverending snark that makes our long slog through the fields of mediocrity tolerable. I guess you could say it is something of a support group/coping mechanism for me as well.
