Marte Mapu or Kyle Louis
Marte Mapu or Kyle Louis
Mapu released by the Pats
Is he worth a look for that hybrid role?
what say you B2B?

My money's on Louis if we're just looking at the player, and I've missed maybe one of his games at Pitt, but he's at least a slightly ascending player, and you might have to use your best 3rd rounder to get him, where Mapu is a FA lottery ticket that costs no draft capital this year, and not sure he even figures into comps now.
Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile...
Neither. I am hoping they can grab Hill, Rodriguez or Trotter at 53.

One of my favorite prospects. He ended up getting traded though.

After that workout, Rodriguez is going to go before pick 40.
And all of those guys are wildly different than Louis or Mapu. IMO Steelers basically need to add two starters at LB. A downhill tone setter like Trotter or a coverage guy like Louis AND a 3-down green dot guy with coverage skills (Rodriguez/Hill).

What do you see the Steelers doing with Payton Wilson, Malik Harrison and Cole Holecomb? Backup role/special teams or released?bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2026 8:37 pmAfter that workout, Rodriguez is going to go before pick 40.

Holcomb is returning from a devastating knee injury. I can't see him playing much. If he can't overcome the injury then he is gone. Harrison is backup material. Wilson will probably start with Queen(if he isn't let go/traded). The Steelers currently have a weak LB corps.stairway 2 seven wrote: ↑Fri Apr 10, 2026 2:27 pmWhat do you see the Steelers doing with Payton Wilson, Malik Harrison and Cole Holecomb? I like Louis, but he might end up like Wilson due to lack of bulk. Wilson is having trouble getting off/through blocks.
Yes, Rodriguez will most likely be gone by 53. If he is there then you have to take him. If he isn't there then Trotter will be next.

I am excited about this draft. I hope the Steelers make the most of it. This draft has a lot of defensive stars well into the 3rd round.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2026 8:37 pmAfter that workout, Rodriguez is going to go before pick 40.

I'm HOPING the new staff ships Patrick Queen to some other area code. Get yourself a green dot LB in this draft. Holcomb the placeholder green dot. Let Patrick Graham try some creative things with Payton or he won't be here once his contract is up. Malik Harrison is basically useless.stairway 2 seven wrote: ↑Fri Apr 10, 2026 2:27 pmWhat do you see the Steelers doing with Payton Wilson, Malik Harrison and Cole Holecomb? Personally, I think they need two ILB starters if they want to get better vs both run and especially middle of the field coverage-- huge bugaboo for them for years.

Holcomb played the second half of the season last year and fairly well as I recall, they just insisted on keeping Queen out there to get tooled in coverage and wander around during run plays Holcomb's knee injury was two seasons ago. I think he's a good stopgap starter until they can do bette, and is the only LB they have who has any business being on the field for all 3 downs.Steeldude wrote: ↑Sat Apr 11, 2026 5:56 amHolcomb is returning from a devastating knee injury. Kyle Louis is basically a big Nickel. Great man to man cover skills but at that size it's going to be only a slight upgrade from Wilson--similar usage.
I'd like to see them get Jacob Rodriguez, Anthony HIll, Deontae Lawson as potential green dots and Jack Kelly, Dugger, Jaishaen Barham, Kendal Daniels, or even Josiah Trotter as the early downs downhill guy... although Trotter price tag is kinda high for a downhill guy.
